When driving at about 30 mph the truck randomly shut off and would not start or try to start. I was later told the engine crankshaft rod bearings seized.

I OWN A 2018 GMC SIERRA DENALI ULTIMATE, The truck has the 6.2 engine which had the lifter issue as stated with the current situation. At the time, the truck had 37,000 miles when the issues started. I purchased the truck from Andy Mohr with 8806 miles on it in November of 2019. I worked overseas for the DOD so that’s why the miles are low. After I got it fixed, ($4500 dollars at Hare Chevrolet) I experienced the transmission shake while driving home from work with my children in it. The transmission was shaking so bad the whole cab was rocking. That repair was $3,300. Now, the truck has piston slap and rod issues and currently at Hare Chevrolet for service. I was told I need a full rebuild ($12,000 dollars or a new engine $14000 dollars). As a retired Air Force veteran, I didn’t expect issues like this, especially when I baby the truck and it currently has 40,530 miles. I had regular oil changes and service, yet now stuck with a high class truck that has serious issues that seem to be ignored by GM and Andy Mohr GMC. Andy Mohr sold me an extended warranty at time of purchase but I paid for a year and a half that wasn’t usable. If I had that warranty I would be covered now.But besides that, it’s a Denali, I shouldn’t be having a new engine at 40,530 miles. I am happy that there is an investigation but it needs to be widened because my truck was right before the new model rollout but I am having the same issues. If needed, I have all my receipts and information and will provide the service rep at Hare. The reason why its at Hare vs Andy Mohr is due to me catching them not fully servicing my truck and joy riding my Camaro ZL1 after an oil change before I went home for a funeral.

I have the L87- 6.2 V8 and my crankshaft bearings burned up at highway speeds and the truck shut down. The is a massive recall on this engine for this reason but does not include the 2019 model and it most definitely should. The issue started in 2019 (not 2021).

Driving at 35 mph in traffic and the RPMs started to increase to 3500rpm and vehicle started to slow down inevitably putting me into Reduced Acceleration..limp mode. Truck would not shift into Reverse either once I could safely merge out of traffic and put into park. Very very dangerous and scary situation.

The lifters in my engine collapsed. This caused a push rod to be bent and the cam shaft to be damaged causing thousands to fix. While I was driving. I could feel the engine malfunction causing my speed to significantly decrease. The vehicle was fixed through an independent mechanic. Mechanic stated that the active fuel management system is the cause for the lifter collapse. There was no warning before the failure

ENGINE COOLER LINE DETACHED FROM CRIMP CAUSING ENGINE TO DRAIN OIL RAPIDLY AND ENGINE SEIZED. THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE TRUCK WAS IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN (WITHIN 10 SECONDS). WE WERE PUT AT RISK BECAUSE WE TRIED TO COAST OUT OF TRAFFIC AND PARK IT ON A SHOULDER TO PREVENT BEING STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE. DIGGING INTO THIS FURTHER, GM HAD PUT A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE OUT ON THIS YEAR OF TRUCK. (N212326940-01). I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY SPECIFIC TRUCK WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND WOULDN'T BE COVERED.

I have the 6.2 L87 with the 10 speed transmission in my 2025 Sierra. At cold start, when auto stop restarts the truck, when the truck downshifts under 20 mph down to 12 mph the engine or transmission makes a chirping/squeak/squeal sounds. Several repair attempts have been made, parts replaced. According to GM and their “field engineer” this is a “normal characteristic of the dfm system”. They claim that it has to do with ignition timing. Not my first dfm truck, but it is the first to make this noise. There is not very many components in “the dfm system” that can make a metal on metal squeak/chirp/squeal sound other than lifters/pushrods, but the noise could be coming from the transmission/bell housing area. I am fairly certain this is an early warning sign of engine or transmission failure. Truck currently has 7,800 miles. If this was an actual “normal behavior” for this engine, all of them would make the same noise. But out of 7 other trucks with the same engine and transmission that i have started/drove, none of them made the noise. It has made this noise since i purchased it brand new. A Gm field engineer “looked” at the truck 3 weeks ago, and I still have not received any paperwork on what they actually did when diagnosing it. Not a single document from the dealership or GM, regarding the 4 days that my truck was at the dealership on the 4th repair attempt. Gm technical service bulletin I was referred to by the dealership is 22-NA-218 Will update this complaint when failure occurs.

I have the 6.2L in the truck… I had the recall done due to lower motor crank bearing failure last fall… It passed the recall. They changed the oil cap and changed to a heavier weight oil… This week, the lower engine disintegrated and had to get towed into the dealership dealer is telling me I need a new motor

Manifold. I use my truck daily for my job. I was coming home every night, tired with headaches not knowing why I was being poisoned. The manifold was leaking in the cab of the vehicle. This is a major safety issue when it’s poisoning people.

I bought my truck new in June 2025. On the night of December 29, 2025, with around 9,300 miles on the odometer, I began to hear a knocking sound coming from the engine while I was driving it back to my house from my mother's house. The sound got progressively louder and louder. The truck eventually displayed a "reduced acceleration drive with care" warning. I thought catastrophic engine failure was imminent and did not believe I could make it home. I called my in-laws (they were closer to my location than my house), agreed to park it there overnight, and thankfully made it to their house. The next day the truck was towed to the GMC dealership. A week later, GMC diagnosed this issue as a thrust bearing/crankshaft issue and agreed to replace the entire engine. A crankshaft issue in a new diesel engine should not occur, yet it did. My vehicle is currently being repaired, so the dealership said they had no repair records to provide me. This is the link to the video of the sound it was making after I made it to the in-laws: [XXX] I had just dropped off my [XXX] child with my mother about twenty minutes earlier. I was extremely close to being stranded on the side of the highway at night in the December cold with a [XXX] baby. Thankfully, that did not happen, but it was a close call. My cousin also has had a similar issue with the exact same make and model of his truck. I believe this engine is not being manufactured according to the design specifications and it is a danger to the public until the manufacturing issue with the supplier is adequately corrected. Engine shutoff completely while driving 70mph. Prior to shut off engine struggled going over a bridge on I95 at 70 mph. Fuel pump failure happened 11/25 after ~900 miles on new engine.
