Truck went into limo mode while driving and required valve in transmission to be replaced. Went from driving normal speed to only being able to go about 15 miles and hour. Was repaired got the truck back and the next day was on the interstate in the fast lane and the truck again had speed issue reduced speed and had to coast off interstate. This time entire valve body had to be replaced. Have gotten truck back and still have hard shifting in the transmission at times. Engine was checked for recall and now I have to pay a much higher oil change price due to a GM issue. This was not a known cost when purchasing this truck.

The lifters stuck and it ruined the cam shaft. This was repaired and then when driving home, the engine seized and started smoking. The engine was then diagnosed with complete failure and it had to be replaced. The engine had been upgraded a year or two earlier to the 0W-40.

I am a Canadian owner of a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 equipped with the 6.2L L87 engine. VIN: [XXX]. I purchased the vehicle new. I am reporting this because my experience appears directly relevant to NHTSA Engineering Analysis EA26005 concerning L87 engine failures after Recall 25V-274 remedies. The GM recall remedy/oil change was performed at 103,503 km (64,315 mi). At 130,695 km (81,210 mi), the original engine suffered a catastrophic failure and completely seized. The engine could not even be rotated manually at the crankshaft. GM replaced the complete engine. At 142,541 km (88,571 mi), only 11,846 km (7,361 mi) later, I returned for the first oil change on the replacement engine. I told the dealer that the vehicle was behaving abnormally, especially the transmission, which was shifting strangely. After inspection, the dealer determined that the replacement engine was beginning to seize. The increased resistance from the engine was causing the abnormal transmission behavior. The complete engine was replaced AGAIN. The vehicle now has 148,560 km (92,310 mi), meaning this second replacement/third engine has only about 6,019 km (3,740 mi). I am again noticing symptoms similar to those that occurred before the previous engine failure. I cannot confirm that this engine will fail, but after two previous engine failures, I am very concerned. This vehicle has therefore had two L87 engines: the original engine and one replacement. One replacement engine itself began seizing after less than 12,000 km. I believe these repeated failures after both the recall remedy and a complete engine replacement are directly relevant to EA26005 and the safety risk of sudden loss of propulsion. I have GM/dealer repair orders documenting the recall service and both engine replacements and can provide them upon request. I have a 2024 gmc 6.2 original motor blew up at 39,000 miles. Got a new motor installed it blew up at 44,000. Now they are about to install the third motor after it’s already had two of the same failure. Second failure broke down on the interstate were three lanes turned into one above a hill. It was very dangerous.

The Exhaust Pressure Differential Sensor Pipe (boost pipe) blew off while towing a heavy trailer uphill on a busy interstate. I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get as far as possible off the road. The truck was sent into limp mode and would barely crawl. Our lives were put at risk of being hit by the many tractor trailers traveling that highway, or another driver traveling at high speeds. The truck was eventually towed to the nearest GM dealer for service. The pipe was replaced, but the faulty one was not kept on hand. The repair was not covered by GM. The extended warranty covered the pipe repair only, with out of pocket still being over $400. There were no warning lights on the dash until after the pipe blew off and the truck was thrown into limp mode. This is a known problem with these diesel engines, for years, yet nothing has been done by GM to fix the problem. Owners are replacing with aftermarket parts because the factory parts won't hold up. This damaged the DPF and DEF system as a result. The replacement parts are listed in my owners manual under the 5 year/100000 mile powertrain warranty, yet the claim was denied by GM. There are forum after forum with these failures for the past 15 15 years or more, yet nothing has been done to fix the problem and owners are put at risk of injury or death. When the dealer replaced the part, it was disposed of so no inspection could be made by anyone else to determine if it was defective.

- #11760099August 27, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The Dynamic Fuel Management (DFS) is causing damage to lifters, valves, camshafts, and connecting rods. I received a recall notice from GMC on the GMC app, stating "L88" Engine loss of Propulsion or Related field action: Special coverage N252494003. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure. My 22' GMC 1500 has just over 30k miles, and issues are starting with the previously mentioned engine parts. A "pico" test was completed at approx 20k miles. Too early and not enough mileage to show the true damage caused by the "DFM" Dynamic Fuel Management.

I pulled up to a local store and parked. Just as I was getting out I saw smoke coming from the upper seatbelt area of the rear drivers side seat inside the cab. I jumped in back to see if there was a fire. As I was trying to pull out the top cushions of the interior roof, trying to locate a possible fire, the rear driver-side window suddenly "exploded" - broke in a web pattern across the entire window. I then broke out the center of the glass in case a fire started. I could smell a burning scent. The, suddenly the rear passenger-side window exploded in the same web pattern across that entire window. When my wife arrived to pick me up she could also smell the scent of burning wire. After researching the internet for this issue, we found out that this is a known issue. We discovered at least 6 websites describing this exact issue - one being a GM Customer Satisfaction Program #N192265660 dated January 2020. Apparently the component that has been determined to have failed is the rear window defrost (particularly in models with an electronic sliding rear center window) overheats and causes the smoke and the window breakage. After our truck being at the dealership for approximately 1 month while GMAC supposedly researched the issue, we received word today verbally (Aug 27, 2026) that they declare this issue is not a manufacturer's defect, and they will not cover the repairs. We have requested written confirmation and haven't yet received it. Not only do we currently have the original warranty on this vehicle, we also purchased the extended warranty for the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by the dealership from which we purchased the vehicle and they stated they couldn't find any issue that would create the damages that the vehicle incurred. Prior to the incident there were no warning lamps or symptoms of any problem.

Engine started making clicking noises at highway speed.the vehicle lost power and was difficult to start. The 2024 gmc sierra was driven three blocks the a GM dealership and it was determined that the engine had failed. It took two months to complete the repair by replacing the engine with a rebuilt one

Had a prior recall a few months back on my truck in reference to the engine. My truck didn’t have an engine issue such as check engine light etc etc etc which required attention. So they only changed the oil to a different velocity. On Sunday afternoon August 23, 2026 while driving on Interstate 20 near Longview, Texas the truck shut off. I had to get it towed to the Chevy dealership (Peltier Chevy in Tyler, Texas).

There was a mass recall on 2018 GMC Sierras to due to a faulty break pump vaccum. We are experiencing the same problems but for some reason were not included in the recall. We were told to reach out on here as others have to see what can be done as this is a saftety hazard.

The vehicle’s engine suffered a catastrophic failure and locked up while in operation. The engine is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The engine suddenly locked up while I was driving, causing the vehicle to lose power and become disabled in traffic. I was forced to get the vehicle out of the flow of traffic and have it towed to a safe location. The sudden engine failure created a significant safety risk to me and other motorists, particularly because the failure occurred while the vehicle was being driven. Yes. Integrity Buick GMC in Chattanooga inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the engine had locked up. Only the dealer. No.
