SummarySome 2019 Transit Connect vehicles built on 28-May-2018 and through 08-Jul-2019 may exhibit an intermittent low fuel message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) when the fuel level is higher than 1/8 of a tank. This may be due to an IPC software issue. To correct the condition, update the IPC using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. For claiming, use causal part 10849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2017-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit inoperative remote features via Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile app, incomplete user authorization and/or accessory protocol interface module (APIM) DTC U0198 or no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed. To correct this condition prior to programming, remove the TCU fuse for 5 minutes then reinstall. Delete all previous session files for the vehicle. Verify that the electronic serial number (ESN) is now displayed. Start a new IDS/FDRS session. Program the TCU to the latest IDS/FDRS version level. Make sure you are connected to the internet before retesting. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual(WSM), Section 415-00. Refer to PTS OASIS home page for TCU version identification. For claiming, use causal part 14G229.

SummarySome 2019-2020 Transit Connect vehicles built on or after 28-May-2018 may exhibit lack of power steering assist with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0131 present and a loss of communication with the power steering control module (PSCM), the body control module (BCM), the instrument cluster (IC), and/or the steering column control module (SCCM). Inspect mega fuse F2 (80 Amp) powering the PSCM. Some F2 fuses may be open due to over tightening and may need replacement. If the fuse integrity is verified, proceed with standard repair processes. Base casual part number is 14290 which is the fuse box/harness assembly.

SummarySome 2013-2020 vehicles equipped with an EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership (339-EVDC100). Ensure the A/C system has a full charge prior to any compressor diagnostics. To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC compressor tool must be used, and the results recorded in the Technician comments field with the warranty claim. This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.

SummarySome 2010-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition.

SummaryFor Ford and Lincoln vehicles that require positive or negative battery terminal replacement, it is not necessary to replace the complete battery cable harness (14300 and 14301) for this concern. Positive battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-AA and negative battery cable clamp BT4Z-14450-BA are available for this type of repair. Do not cut or shorten the battery cable, instead carefully remove the affected battery cable clamp and clean the cable end as necessary to preserve wire length. Some rework may be necessary for some vehicle environments. Bend the new positive battery cable clamp as needed and crimp it to the existing battery cable. Make sure to use heat shrink tubing over the battery cable to battery cable clamp connection. Obtain the heat shrink tube locally.

SummarySome 2019 Transit Connect vehicle owners may request a way to disable the enhanced security system to prevent motion from activating the vehicles anti-theft alarm. On exiting the vehicle, a menu will be displayed on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) that will allow a change in the alarm status to perimeter only. If the menu is not being displayed, use the latest version of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool and run the IPC Anti-Theft Configuration application. This will enable the menu on vehicle exit in the IPC.

SummarySome 2019 Edge/Nautilus/Transit Connect vehicles equipped with a 8F35 transmission may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0766 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and/or intermittent or delayed reverse engagement concerns. This may be due to contamination in the main control valve body separator plate orifice. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to clean the contamination from the main control plate.

SummaryOn vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

SummarySome 2019 Transit Connect vehicles produced on or before 17-Dec-2018 and equipped with 4G Wi-Fi without SYNC, may exhibit a Wi-Fi Hotspot button not showing in the menu. To correct this condition, perform programmable module installation (PMI) on the audio control module (ACM) and when asked if the original module is installed select NO. This procedure will retrieve the updated as-built from the database and install it into the module. For claiming, use causal part 18C869 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2019 Mustang, Continental, Fusion, MKZ, F150, Transit Connect, Ranger, Edge or Nautilus with SYNC 3 may have the following intermittent symptoms: a solid blue screen when moving forward at speeds above 10 mph, the rear view camera remains on the screen at speeds below 10 mph, or inoperative infotainment applications. To resolve this concern, check for a SYNC software update under the OASIS Tab SYNC selection. If an update is available, update the APIM software per WSM section 415-00. After the complete pop-up appears, remove the USB flash drive and install it into the IDS tool to update the Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes, which is critical for a successful installation. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.
