SummarySome 2016-2018 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTC P20EE stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). When diagnosing this DTC, if pinpoint test (PPT) RD leads to Step RD27, proceed to Step RD28. This is due to PID NOx12 (NUM) incorrectly reading NOx11 (NUM) in the PCM. The NOx12 (NUM) PID will read the same as the NOx11 (NUM) PID. If the NOx Catalyst Conversion Efficiency Value PID reads less than 60% in Step RD28, replace the nitrogen oxides (NOx) sensor 12 and retest before replacing the selective catalyst reduction (SCR) catalyst. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

SummarySome 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit incorrect air temperature from the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) outlets with DTC B1081:07 in the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to binding of the blend door in the HVAC housing or binding between the temperature door actuator and the cam to the temperature door. Replacement of temperature door actuator and cam driver is recommended if the blend door is not binding. Note that removal of the cam driver follower from the blend door shaft can result in damage.

SummarySome 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 6.8L gas engine may exhibit multiple warning indicators in the instrument panel cluster and/or inoperative radio during snow plow use. Battery state of charge is important to verify prior to any repairs. 12.72v to 12.8v is a fully charged battery. To assist with the investigation use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and include the following information: What brand of plow the vehicle is equipped with, If it's been equipped by the plow manufacturer's specifications, If other equipment is up-fitted on the vehicle, ambient temperature when the concern occurs, Engine RPM and MPH/KPH, and battery state of charge. Note the concern should be duplicated similar to customer use and ambient temperature.

This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SummarySome 2017-2018 F-Super Duty/2016-2018 F650-750 with 6.7L diesel engines and 2015-2018 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a MIL on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, confirm DEF concentration using IDS to monitor REDUCT_CONC_MES. This PID reading may fluctuate between 31% and 34% indicating DEF concentration is correct. A concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. This reading may also be checked using Central Tools Refractometer (CEN3R201) which should indicate a similar percentage as the PID. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts.

SummarySome 2017-2018 Continental/F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a DTC B13BD in the steering effort control module (SECM). This DTC sets when the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) self test is run and is a result of a software issue between the SECM and the IDS. After the IDS self test is run DTC B13BD sets and the heated steering wheel is disabled. To eliminate the DTC and return the heated steering wheel functionality, perform the IDS SASM module reset routine. The IDS reset routine is available under Toolbox > Chassis > Steering > Adaptive Front Steering > SASM Module Reset. For claiming, use causal part 3600 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.

SummaryVarious 2016-2017 vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience a touch screen that does not respond to any input. Using the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website > OASIS tab > SYNC version, verify the vehicle SYNC software version. If the vehicle is at version 2.2 please update the module to the latest software level. After the software is updated make sure you shut the vehicle off, open the door for 2 minutes, then turn the key back on before testing the touch screen. If the software is at a later version than 2.2, proceed with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual.

SummarySome 2011-2018 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as Typewriter Noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. When engine temperatures reach 150 Å?F (65 Å?C) or higher, (from engine idle up to approximately 1700 RPM's), this noise can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. Typewriter Noise is not detrimental to engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. Do not attempt repairs to eliminate this noise. This noise is characteristic of the 6.7L diesel engine and will typically cease or diminish significantly within the oil change maintenance interval.
