Summary
Some 2017-2018 Continental/F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a DTC B13BD in the steering effort control module (SECM). This DTC sets when the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) self test is run and is a result of a software issue between the SECM and the IDS. After the IDS self test is run DTC B13BD sets and the heated steering wheel is disabled. To eliminate the DTC and return the heated steering wheel functionality, perform the IDS SASM module reset routine. The IDS reset routine is available under Toolbox > Chassis > Steering > Adaptive Front Steering > SASM Module Reset. For claiming, use causal part 3600 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.

Removal of hood struts will allow the hood to over travel and contact the antenna base resulting in damage. Support of the hood is recommended prior to hood strut removal. Some 2016-2018 Ford and Lincoln Vehicle equipped with SYNC 3 and connected to an iPhone recently upgraded to iOS 11.2.5 may exhibit a concern where USB Audio playback and App Link applications will not function properly. This may also include, under certain conditions, no Bluetooth Streaming. Apple is aware of the issue and is working on a resolution with a future iOS release. No repairs should be performed at this time. To check the iOS software level on an Apple iOS device, select Settings > General > About on the device. Monitor OASIS for updates. Customers can also check Apple Support or connect to iTunes for the latest available iOS release for their phone.

When connecting the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to the DLC located on the driver side under the steering column at the GWM, make sure that the ignition is off before connecting the VCM. If the ignition is on or the engine is running during the connection, it can result in various warning lights being illuminated with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), no start or no crank conditions or the IPC inoperative. For Lincoln vehicles, this information is now listed in the Technical Inspection and Post Road Test Sections of ePDI on the PTS website. If a vehicle displays these issues, disconnect the equipment from the DLC and disconnect the vehicle battery. Wait 10 minutes and reinstall with the ignition off. Clear any DTCs present and retest.

Various 2016-2017 vehicles with SYNC 3 may experience a touch screen that does not respond to any input. Using the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website > OASIS tab > SYNC version, verify the vehicle SYNC software version. If the vehicle is at version 2.2 please update the module to the latest software level. After the software is updated make sure you shut the vehicle off, open the door for 2 minutes, then turn the key back on before testing the touch screen. If the software is at a later version than 2.2, proceed with normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 415-00. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual.

Some 2017 F-Super Duty, 2016-2017 F650-750 equipped with 6.7L diesel engines and 2015-2017 Transit equipped with 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a MIL on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C stored in powertrain control module(PCM). This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, ensure DEF concentration is checked using Central Tools Refractometer tool number CEN3R201 and if DEF contamination is suspected use the Rotunda Hydrocarbon Test Kit tool number 328-480508.

Some 2011-2018 F-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as Typewriter Noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. When engine temperatures reach 150 Å?F (65 Å?C) or higher, (from engine idle up to approximately 1700 RPM's), this noise can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. Typewriter Noise is not detrimental to engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. Do not attempt repairs to eliminate this noise. This noise is characteristic of the 6.7L diesel engine and will typically cease or diminish significantly within the oil change maintenance interval.

Some 2017 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit a fuel knock type noise at idle, illuminated MIL with one or more of the following DTCs stored in powertrain control module (PCM) memory: P0263, P0266, P0269, P0272, P0275, P0278, P0281, P0284, P2B11, P2B13, P2B15, P2B17, P2B19, P2B1B, P2B1D, and/or P2B1F. This may be due to incorrect learning of the injector timing within the PCM. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

The master code for the Accessory (Wireless) Keyless Entry Keypad can be retrieved from FMCDealer - Parts and Service - Parts Product Line Information - Keys/Entry Devices - Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Access to this site is granted through Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES) and Dealer Principal, General Manager or Parts and Service Director can authorize users. Once authorized the retrieval process for master code can be obtained. The master code for the Accessory Keyless Entry Keypad cannot be retrieved from the body control module(BCM) with a diagnostic tool.

Mobile device navigation via AppLink requires SYNC 3 version 2.3 or higher for Apple iOS users. Mobile device navigation via AppLink is not currently available for Android users. Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles with SYNC 3 may intermittently display an overhead image of a vehicle in the center of the SYNC touchscreen with no obstacle detection grids or warning chimes. SYNC may appear unresponsive when the overhead vehicle image is displayed. The vehicle image may intermittently display after shifting out of reverse or turning the vehicle off when in reverse.
