POWER TRAIN
Son was driving car and pulled out of gas station and heard a loud "bang" from under the hood and the car immediately died and he had to coast into a safe spot off of the street. Check Engine light came on and message "Service Transmission". Will not move forward now and whirring noise when placed into Drive. Towed to transmission shop that said there were several Transmission codes (TCM Monitor Processing and TCM Failure Undetected). The car has 59000 miles on it and the transmission needs replacing. Similar to other complaints seen on here for the 2015 Chrysler 200.

On 5/8 a conversation took place with a Chrysler Customer Service representative which was recorded. The representative acknowledged that the TCM going out is common due to the Transaxle Control Harness recall. The representative acknowledged this has not become a recall yet but this is a known problem and issue with the vehicles.

AIR BAGS
Ever since I first got the car, the moment I drove off the lot, the air bag system message popped up. I would take it back to the dealer, they would wiggle a few things around, I'd get it back, and the safety bag light STILL came on. I took it in about 5-6 times and still no fix. It was until my insurance expired that they said they could replace the whole thing for thousands of dollars. I still get the message on the car. If I crash, they bags will not go off, and the car company does not care. This happened with a family member of mine with the same car.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated. The contact had to depress the brake pedal very forcefully to stop the vehicle from accelerating. The contact stated that while her sister was driving the vehicle, she also experienced the failure. Additionally, the vehicle failed to accelerate over 40 MPH. The transmission service message was displayed. The contact became aware that the speedometer continued to decrease. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact called on behalf his son's girlfriend, who owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that after the throttle body was replaced; while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The owner was able to continue driving to the contact 's residence. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there were metal shavings inside the oil pan. The mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V487000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) since the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle would not shift out of park. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle started operating normally. While the contact was driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started jerking and overheating. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road and noticed that the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact turned off the vehicle and added coolant to the vehicle, but the vehicle would not cool down. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for a diagnostic test and the dealer stated that the engine had seized and needed to be replaced. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle lost electrical power, causing the brakes and the steering wheel to lock. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving; however, the contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly while driving. The contact contacted CarMax and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The steering wheel became very firm while turning to the left or the right. The contact stated that she heard a chime and unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over and was able to stop and restart the vehicle, and the steering wheel functionality returned. Additionally, contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the vehicle was making abnormal sounds. The vehicle lost power and completely shut down while driving. I was unable to turn on emergency flashers or move the vehicle out of the street. There was no warning or indication lights on. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and a private mechanic and they were unable to diagnose problem. After disengaging the battery and waiting about an hour, then reengaging battery, all power comes back on. I have had six incidents of this happening and two of the incidents were while driving, putting me at risk of being struck by another vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that she was able to navigate the vehicle off the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was then towed to Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling, she smelled a burning odor throughout the vehicle. The contact then stated that a gray cloud of smoke was coming from under the hood. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, she noticed that transmission fluid was on the ground underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was provided a case number. The contact was then informed that the VIN was included in the Manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Number: W84 (Powertrain Software update). The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

My car cut off right as I was stopping at a stop sign. It wouldn't even let me turn off the car to try and restart. I couldn't steer the car either. It took a minute and then I was able to turn it off and then restart it. By the time I got to the third stop sign it cutoff again. The second time around it read to shift to park before restarting. Thank God I was in my subdivision! There was no warning or check e gone light on either. Please help! More importantly my airbag light is on again. I've even had my airbag replaced by Chrysler last year. This had been a recurring problem since I bought the car. I reported it back in 2016 as well. My car is a 2015 and should never have had the airbag problem. Please help! I hope and pray this get to someone that takes safety seriously! This is my only car and I transport my children in it.

my 2015 chrystler 200 randmly shuts down while im driving or if i drive to a location i mght have to wait a while for it to start back up if it starts back up ive had to leave it on the side of the road and come back the next day i bought the car november 9th 2022 it is now january 15th 2023 and i havent been able to enjoy my car for one whole day and i lost two jobs because of this car and the dealership isnt trying to help me and when i say i want another car they tell me if i dont keep paying for this car theyll come repo it and itll go on my credit so im basically paying on a car for it to sit outside of my house this isnt right
