General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The instrument panel may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."

UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY HAZARD: General Motors & Cadillac Need to Take Responsibility I am writing this to urge Cadillac and General Motors to address a critical safety issue before someone gets seriously hurt or dies. While driving my 2020 Cadillac XT6 over an overpass in XXX, the vehicle suffered a complete electrical breakdown. Every dash light flared up, and I instantly lost total control—NO steering assist, NO acceleration. Being stranded in a moving vehicle without control on an elevated roadway was terrifying. This car has under 50,000 miles. It is currently on its 6th service visit at Stevens Creek Cadillac and has been sitting in their shop for 3 full weeks with zero answers or progress. I trusted Cadillac again even after my 2006 SRX had to be donated under 150k miles following 2 transmission replacements and endless issues. But experiencing a sudden, total power failure at highway speeds crosses every line. I am fearful to take this vehicle back. I do not feel safe put back behind the wheel. GM and Cadillac really should not sell these vehicles until their electrical issue is safe. I opened a case with GM and they said that the buy back was denied which is insane to me. this vehicle doesn't even have 50,000 miles on it. I noticed a water sloshing sound behind the dash when first starting out for about a month. I didn’t get any warning lights or notice anything leaking under the car but when I checked under the hood the coolant reservoir was empty. I made appointment at GM dealership and they found I had a leak along the side seam of my radiator. The car only has 61k miles! I found online that GM has noted a structural design issue in my XT6. The radiators were engineered with tight thermal break tabs. If they stay locked in place they trap immense physical stress during engine heat cycles and force leaks along the seams. This appears to be what happened. If it had occurred while we were on a trip and totally failed while on a highway, I can imagine the result could have been catastrophic. I have contacted GM.

DTC P0128 engine coolant thermostat to open at a lower temperature than intended. The Check Engine Light appeared, a Steering warning appeared on my information screen, and the engine cooling fan continued to run excessively after turning off. I understand there is a Special Coverage N252508350 for this exact issue, however, GM is refusing to cover the cost of repairs.

On September 15,2026, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic los of power steering assist accompanied by severe heavy steering. Please review General Motors TSB 20-NA-215 & TSB 17-NA-158 both addressing this issue. My 2021 vehicle has a build date of September 19, 2020 which falls "directly" in the time frame covered by these bulletins. Essentially, General Motors KNEW of the problem! The only warning I got was a two second message flashing across the instrument panel stating "Power assist reduced, drive with caution" ... followed by "Service Power steering" Then severe loss of steering!! Again, General Motors KNEW of this problem! Ultimately, the Power steering Gear assembly was replaced at a cost of approximately $3800. I was almost KILLED in heavy traffic because of this failure !!!

The contact owns a 2020 Cadillac XT6. The contact stated that while accelerating from a complete stop and driving below 30 MPH, the vehicle shuddered, hesitated, and jerked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with burned transmission fluid and excessive metal shavings inside the fluid. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V668000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone and offered to cover 50 percent of the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was 16,000.
