The low-beam headlights gradually dim over time. Dim headlights can pose a safety risk, preventing drivers from seeing a safe distance ahead. This is not very safe to drive the vehicle at nighttime, my fear and the safety of my family to continue driving this vehicle. Acura should voluntarily recall the 2015 Acura RDX, due to defective headlights. It's outrageous that Acura hasn't recalled it. The low-beam reflector itself oxidizes, is not reflective at all, and no amount of brighter bulbs. Light output of 2015 Acura Rdx is very low due to bad foil in projector headlights. I have swtiched bulbs but that did not make much different. This is a safety concern.

The car's low beam headlights do not safely illuminate the road in front of you. Honda/Acura has acknowledged a recall on other models of the Acura but they have not recalled 2015 Model RDX automobiles for this problem. The headlight's illumination is unsafe and pose a serious risk to all traffic. This problem forces the driver to illuminate high beams to see the road surface at night even when other traffic is traveling onward to the vehicle. This poses a serious safety risk to both parties.

The low beams are so dim that I have to drive only during the day and if I get stuck driving at night, I have no choice but to use my high beams. This is a safety issue because I am constantly paying attention to adjusting my lights as to not blind other drivers rather than all around driving. I have had several near misses for head on collisions. The first in 2019 from unintentionally blinding the oncoming drivers. Since then the lights have grown much worse. I am unable to see wild life and pedestrians, curbs etc. I have a job that requires me to work after dark during fall/winter. I have changed the bulbs and refurbished the lamp covers. This has not helped. I then did research and found that many 2013, 2014 RDX have been recalled due to the same issue and the 2015 RLX. Please help us 2015 RDX drivers to drive safely by instituting a recall on the faulty head lamp casing that has been recalled in other years and models.

The cover of front headlights are all foggy. This makes it difficult to see at night and does not put out the light like it use to. This is on both headlights and the vehicle is under 9 years old and kept in the garage. There are several posts like this with same issue for the 2015 Acura RDX. This is a material flaw and should be recalled. Issue started happening in 2019.

Fast blinking engine light, and car not able to accelerate past 40mph. Was informed by dealership that it was possible water intrusion but had no guarantee or adequate mitigation strategy to ensure the problem would not occur other than indicating it is normal behavior to expect during heavy down pour!! The following codes were presented to dealership service dept after performing diagnostic: P0300, P0301, P0304 Car has 10k miles and it’s a 2023 RDX A Spec. Another issue happening with the car is an intermittent “Brake Failure. See Dealership” message on the dashboard. Was told it’s expected behavior for this to sometimes happen and due to no permanent code present, they cannot repair or identify the issue. I guess the breaks have to fail while driving before they actually prevent an accident from happening?!!!

- #11542484September 4, 2023SERVICE BRAKES
The brake on the right and rear side of the car makes a lot of noise, as if something has come loose. Around 3 weeks ago the brake on the left and rear side of the car started to make a low frequency hum. The vehicle is taking longer to stop and I am afraid to brake hard since I think something will get disarmed on my rear wheels. I did some research online and several automotive industry testers and researcher mention and report this issue. For example: - Consumer Report: [XXX] - Kelly Blue Book: [XXX] - Car and Drive: [XXX] : [XXX] Thank you very much for reading this assessment. October 2021 at 74,790 miles I took the 2014 RDX to the dealer as the driver side headlight did not illuminate. The bulb was replaced. The light was still dimmer than the passenger side. In December 2022 at 81,415 mile service at the dealer I reported continued issues with night driving and dim headlights and was informed that the both head light projectors oxidized and the recommendation was to replace both ( $2,177.98). I limited my night driving and tried one more time to have the bulbs replaced without improvement. July 2023 at 85,204 miles both headlight assembly were replaced at the dealer ( $2,276.85). At the same time I contacted American Honda Motor Company to request financial assistance. After providing all dealer service documentation I was called to be advise that this was outside of warranty even thought the vehicle was not safe to drive in the dark.

Rear windshield shattered while parked and the car was not running. There was a bulletin only at the time. Called customer service. They advised to submit an insurance claim, which I didn’t do. The dealership disputed with them and ended up replacing it at their cost. Later several others in the area experienced the same thing. Acura acknowledged there was a problem with the rear windshield defroster. I still have pieces of glass within the hatch.

My car lurches when I put it into gear, drive or reverse. When a red light turns green and I put my foot on the accelerator the car will lurch forward. I was in my garage when I started my car and my foot was firmly on the brake as I shifted into reverse with my foot on the brake the car violently lurched backwards.

The contact owns a 2021 Acura RDX. The contact stated that while his son was in the car seat in the rear driver's side seat, he pulled the rear middle seat belt pretensioner and released it; however, the seat belt pretensioner retracted and tightened around his son's neck. The contact attempted to remove the seat belt, but the seat belt remained tightened. The contact stated that he used a utility knife to cut the seat belt. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Low beam headlights have gotten dimmer and dimmer over time, and represent a significant safety risk when driving at night. We have replaced the bulbs with the brightest, most expensive options possible, and no difference. We had the dealer check the problem, and they told us that they could "recondition" the headlight covers (which didn't look to me to be the problem, but we were desperate to make the situation better). No change at all (except we're out a few hundred dollars). Upon further research online, sounds like it is a common issue for this generation of Acura RDX, as well as other cars that use the same headlight projector. The heat from the bulbs gradually degrades the reflective coating on the inside of the projector, and it doesn't matter what bulb you put in at that point. It is amazing to me that this is a known issue, and no recall has been issued by Acura. Properly functioning headlights are a critical component of a safe operating vehicle.

I purchased the vehicle used on July 4, 2023. I've noticed that the low beam lights are very dim to the point they are a safety hazard. My daughters both have Honda CR-V models and both of their low beam lights are much brighter than mine. I looked online, and there are a lot of people with the same issue. I took it to the dealer, and they said nothing was wrong with it. However, there is definitely something clearly wrong with it because you can barely see to drive at night. The high beams work fine, but I can't drive around with high beams all of the time.

The headlight reflectors are so bad that it has become dangerous to drive in the night. The dealership agreed that its Acura's defect for that year and asked about $2500 to replace the whole headlight unit. No use in changing just the bulb.

low beam headlights are extremely dim. It is not possible to drive at night on any roads that are dark. Replaced the light bulbs, had it polished, nothing works.

The headlights of the RDX have grown very dim. In 2022, to pass inspection, the mechanics had us change the lamps. While they passed us for inspection, I noticed very little difference in light output. This weekend I nearly hit an under-lit bicyclist, while battling head-on lights in a bit of drizzle. In these conditions the forward light from the RDX headlights is non existent, leaving the driver to discern the glare and shadows. Really the light output is unsafe in any conditions even pure darkness. The reported cause is the deterioration of internal reflectors due manufacturing flaws. While I can no longer drive the vehicle without putting replacement lights on it, I will happy to send my old headlights to NHTSA so they can dissect and see the manufacturing flaw. Hopefully then, a recall can be made. Please let me know where to send them!

I, along with many others according to the internet, am experiencing very low, unsafe visibility at night due to poor low beam performance. New bulbs make no difference and most of the time the vehicle must be operated using the high beams, which is a safety issue for other drivers.
