2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X Selected for Overland Expo Build

The 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X has been selected by Overland Expo as the foundation for its 2026 'Ultimate Build' project. This initiative aims to transform the off-road-capable pickup into a fully equipped overland adventure vehicle. The customized Nissan Frontier Overland Build is scheduled to make its public debut at Overland Expo West, held from May 15-17, 2026, in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The Ultimate Build Project

Overland Expo, known for its expertise in vehicle-based adventure travel, chose the Frontier PRO-4X for its inherent off-road capabilities. The project will integrate an extensive array of aftermarket and accessory components to enhance the truck's performance and utility for long-distance, self-reliant journeys.

Key modifications include the addition of NISMO rock sliders, a heavy-duty winch system for recovery, and supplementary lighting for improved visibility. A bed-mounted pop-up camper will also be installed, providing integrated living space for extended trips. Following its initial unveiling, the Nissan Frontier Overland Build will appear at subsequent Overland Expo events, industry gatherings, and media drives.

Frontier PRO-4X Capabilities

The 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X provides a robust base for overlanding, featuring a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. For off-road performance, the PRO-4X trim includes Bilstein suspension components and underbody skid plates to protect critical areas. It is equipped with satin grey 17-inch alloy wheels featuring Lava Red lettering, wrapped in Hankook Dynapro AT2 all-terrain tires. Further enhancing its capability, the PRO-4X offers an electric locking rear differential and an Intelligent Around View Monitor with an Off-Road Mode, which can be utilized at speeds up to 12 mph.
