Honda Highlights Manufacturing Careers to Over 1,500 Students
Honda is opening its doors to over 1,500 students and teachers across 10 U.S. production facilities for National Manufacturing Day 2026. These events aim to introduce students to diverse career paths in modern manufacturing through hands-on activities, including virtual reality and AI simulations.

Honda is set to host over 1,500 students and teachers at 10 of its U.S. production facilities for National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) on October 2, 2026. This initiative aims to introduce young people to career opportunities within the modern manufacturing sector, showcasing advanced technologies and diverse roles across six states.
Promoting Manufacturing Careers
This year's Honda Manufacturing Day activities will involve students from more than 50 schools across Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Participants will engage with Honda associates and explore various aspects of manufacturing through interactive demonstrations, including virtual reality simulations and artificial intelligence applications. These tools illustrate their integration into contemporary production processes.
For the first time, personnel from the Honda Procurement and Supply Chain Center (PSCC) will also participate. They will lead an activity focused on supply chain concepts, demonstrating the movement of materials, parts, and finished products within the industry.
Experiential Learning Across US Plants
Each participating Honda facility will offer unique experiences. In Alabama, students will engage in team assembly and Lego production, learning skills relevant to building vehicles like the Honda Odyssey, Passport, Pilot, and Ridgeline. Georgia's Honda Transmission Plant will allow students to practice securing bolts and explore electronics, showcasing automatic transmissions and components.
Indiana's auto plant will feature virtual welding and a Lego assembly line challenge, highlighting advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D printing used for the Honda Civic Hatchback and CR-V. Ohio facilities will host an expo with activities such as a "spot-the-defect" game and torque bolt races, demonstrating quality control and assembly for Honda and Acura products, engines, and hybrid systems. North Carolina students will engage with virtual reality and model car assembly, exploring production of Honda FourTrax ATVs and outdoor power equipment, while Honda Aircraft Company offers a flight simulator and insights into HondaJet Elite II manufacturing. South Carolina's plant will focus on model vehicle assembly and 3D printing, illustrating innovation behind side-by-side vehicles like the Honda Pioneer and Talon.
Honda's Enduring US Manufacturing Presence
Honda's U.S. manufacturing began in 1979, with automobile production starting in Ohio in 1982. By 2025, over 62% of all Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the U.S. were produced domestically. Cumulative auto production in America now exceeds 32 million vehicles. Honda's Ohio auto plants can produce gasoline, hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles on the same lines.
The company operates 12 manufacturing plants across the U.S., supported by nearly 23,000 associates. These facilities have an annual capacity exceeding 1 million automobiles, 1.5 million engines, 30,000 power equipment products, and 175,000 powersports products, alongside the HondaJet. Honda has invested nearly $21 billion in its U.S. manufacturing operations, including approximately $2.7 billion over the past five years.
These annual Honda Manufacturing Day events underscore the company's efforts to cultivate a skilled manufacturing workforce and support economic development. By providing direct exposure to modern production environments and diverse career paths, Honda aims to inspire the next generation of technicians and engineers.
