Audi Unveils New China-Tailored Models at Auto China 2026

Audi presented a comprehensive lineup at the Auto China 2026 motor show in Beijing, emphasizing models and technologies developed specifically for the Chinese market. This initiative includes the global debut of the electric AUDI E7X and new locally produced Audi A6L and Audi A6L e-tron variants. The company's strategy involves working with partners FAW and SAIC to address diverse customer segments in China with a focus on localized offerings.

New Electric Models for China

The AUDI E7X, the second production model from Audi's sister brand AUDI, premiered as an electric SUV. This vehicle is set to launch in the first half of 2026. Measuring 5,049 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width, and 1,710 mm in height, with a 3,060 mm wheelbase, the E7X features quattro all-wheel drive and offers system outputs of 300 kW or 500 kW. It is equipped with a 109 kWh gross capacity battery, providing a maximum range exceeding 750 kilometers under the CLTC standard.

The AUDI E7X incorporates an AI-powered AUDI Assistant, zero-gravity seating options for five or four passengers, and a 21.4-inch roof-mounted screen for rear entertainment. Its AUDI 360 Driving Assist System supports assisted driving. The AUDI brand, which launched its first model, the AUDI E5 Sportback, in September 2025, plans a third model debut in 2027. These AUDI China models 2026 are built on the Advanced Digitized Platform, a joint development with SAIC.

Expanded Audi A6L Portfolio

Audi is also expanding its electric offerings with the Audi A6L e-tron, a fully electric sedan based on the 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE). This model features a wheelbase extended by 132 millimeters, accommodating a battery with up to 107 kWh gross capacity, which allows for a maximum range of up to 815 kilometers (CLTC). The A6L e-tron can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and includes an augmented reality head-up display. All PPE models for China, including the Audi Q6L e-tron and Audi Q6L Sportback e-tron, are produced at the Audi FAW NEV Company site in Changchun.

In addition to electric vehicles, Audi updated its combustion-engine lineup. The new Audi A6L, launched in late March, features a wheelbase 140 millimeters longer than the global model. It offers engines with up to 270 kW, adaptive air suspension, and all-wheel steering. This model, along with the Audi A5L, Audi A5L Sportback, and Audi Q5L, is based on the new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC).

Strategic Partnerships and Localized Technology

Audi's strategy for the Chinese market involves deepening collaborations with its partners. A strategic agreement between Audi and SAIC focuses on the entire value chain for future AUDI models, including the establishment of an AUDI Innovation & Technology Center in Shanghai. This partnership aims to launch four additional AUDI models on the next generation of the Advanced Digitized Platform.

Both the Audi A6L e-tron and Audi A6L integrate local smart cockpit technologies, utilizing the E3 1.2 electronics architecture. These systems provide tailored infotainment, navigation, app stores, and digital services, including a market-specific Audi Assistant. The PPE and PPC models for China are equipped with advanced Level 2++ driver assistance systems, such as the Audi Advanced Driving Assist System, developed for specific Chinese traffic conditions. Audi's Formula 1 entry with the Audi R26 also featured at the event, highlighting the brand's presence in motorsport.
