2025-2026 Jeep Compass Brake Warning Lamp TSB

Owners of certain 2025-2026 Jeep Compass, Renegade, Commander, and RAM Rampage vehicles may experience a "Brake Warning Lamp On" or other related symptoms. Stellantis has released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 08-275-25, also known as Rapid Service Update (RSU) 25-172, to address a manufacturing issue with the brake pedal switch.

This bulletin specifically applies to vehicles built on or after March 27, 2025 (MDH 0327XX) and on or before August 12, 2025 (MDH 0812XX). It is important to note that this bulletin applies to the South America market.

Symptoms

Customers may observe one or more of the following indicators related to the brake pedal switch issue:

• Illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
• An "ABS" warning message displayed on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
• Excessive force required when depressing the brake pedal when attempting to start the engine.

This DTC indicates an invalid signal from the brake light switch, which is central to the Jeep Compass brake warning lamp issue.

Diagnosis

To diagnose the issue, technicians should use a wiTECH scan tool and appropriate Diagnostic Procedures from DealerCONNECT/Service Library. The initial step involves verifying that all related systems are functioning correctly. If symptoms or DTCs other than C1215-86 are present, those should be addressed first.

If the customer reports the symptoms described in this bulletin, the repair procedure outlined in TSB 08-275-25 should be followed.

Repair Procedure Summary

The repair procedure for the Jeep Compass brake warning lamp issue involves inspecting the brake pedal switch pressure and, if necessary, reseating the switch. The steps are as follows:

1. Verify if the vehicle's VIN is on the RSU VIN list using VIP or DealerCONNECT/Service Library. If not, this bulletin does not apply.
2. Connect the wiTECH diagnostic tool to the vehicle.
3. Select the vehicle's VIN and model, navigate to the topology, and then select the ABS module (as shown in Fig. 1 of the TSB).
4. Access the DATA function within wiTECH (Fig. 2).
5. Select and monitor the pressure of the fluids in the DATA function (Fig. 3).
6. Select the brake light switch in the DATA function, observing both the normal open and normal closed options (Fig. 4).
7. Utilize the graphics function to monitor data visually (Fig. 5).
8. Slowly depress the brake pedal and monitor the graphs. When the first stage of the switch activates, the pressure should register up to 4 Bar for H1/M1/N4 models and 6 Bar for B1 models (Fig. 6).
9. If the Bar pressure is greater than these specified values, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, the bulletin is considered complete, and Labor Operation 08-80-84-90 should be used to close the active RSU.
10. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
11. Remove the brake pedal switch by turning it counterclockwise.
12. Re-position the switch onto its seat on the pedal and turn it clockwise until it is securely fixed and a click is felt.
13. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
14. Clear any stored DTCs.
15. Start the engine, place the transmission in Park "P", and deactivate the parking brake.
16. Recheck the residual brake pressure by slowly stepping on the brake pedal while monitoring the graphs (Fig. 7). The pressure should now be less than or equal to 4 Bar (H1/M1/N4) and 6 Bar (B1) for Renegade models.

Required Tools or Parts

• wiTECH or Equivalent: A diagnostic scan tool is required to perform the necessary diagnostic and monitoring steps.

Important Warnings

• Airbag System Capacitor Discharge: After disconnecting the negative battery terminal, wait at least two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before proceeding with further steps.
• Brake Pedal Movement: Do not move the brake pedal at any time during the switch removal and reseating process, as there is a risk of breaking the component.

What Owners Should Know

This repair is reimbursable under the provisions of warranty. Owners should verify if their vehicle's VIN is applicable to RSU 25-172 by checking VIP or performing a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library. After applying TSB 08-275-25, it is not necessary to send DID-I or DID-A information.
