- #11436357October 12, 2021EXTERIOR LIGHTING
In the Winter of 2020, we stopped at Walmart to get a new light headlight for the Toyota 2015 Tacoma Truck and it was hard to put it in and THEN the Retainer Spring Clip fell out and was lost. No where to be found! Also the Gasket to the Headlight fell too and was lost. It stayed loose for a while and the Truck didn't pass its Annual Safety Inspection for 2021 because of the Headlight not staying in in September. This last Friday, October 8, 2021 I went to Oursiman Toyota in Chantilly, VA to order the Gasket and pick it up on Saturday, October 9, 2021 thinking that that was all I needed and I could fix the part and the Headlight/Lamp. I didn't relaize that the Retainer Spring Clip didn't come with it and when I called back to Oursiman Toyota today, Monday, October 11, 2021 the Parts Service Guy said I had to order the entire Headlight Assembly to get the Retainer Spring Clip. After doing some research on-line it SEEMS that the majority of people who own a Toyota Tacoma Truck have been having the same issue for many many years as I found out today, Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Web Site, tacomaworld.com. ALSO it is a Safety Issue for your State Safety Inspection for the State of Virginia. I went to Pohanka Chevrolet last week to get an Oil Change and asked them to fix the light BUT they wouldn't touch or fix it either. The Part that holds the Headlight Lamp Assembly is flimsy and doesn't do justice. Corporate Toyota won't or hasn't addressed this issue. They are forcing people to buy the entire Headlight when that isn't the part they need. This is a safety issue! This doesn't serve the public for keeping their car in shape or compliant with State Safety Regulations. There should be a CLASS ACTION SUIT on behalf of the Owners of Toyota Tacoma Trucks the date ranges from the discussion group are various but the Model year my son has is 2015. During routine maintenance at a independent shop, the driver side power steering rack boot was found to be leaking. I was informed by a former Lexus master technician that this was a problem with some of the similar Lexus models previously. The vehicle currently had 47,xxx miles which seems very low for a power steering failure. I can provide images of the leak as needed and the vehicle has not been repaired as of this filing.

- #11434829September 29, 2021SERVICE BRAKES
Hello, I bought a 2021 Toyota Tacoma this year. Soon I discovered that there was a problem with the brake system. We went to this store (Nashville Toyota North) to replace it, but we were told that we had to pay more than $200 for the brake pads ourselves, and My car does not have its own tire unlocking tool, and I was told by this store that I need to pay for it before I can order this unlocking tool that should have been on my car. Thanks!

When fully stopped, in drive, and applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the brake pedal loses firmness and starts to move further forward. If the operator doesn't apply more pressure to the now moving pedal, the vehicle will start to roll forward. I was able to recreate this issue on several occasions.

- #11432756September 13, 2021WHEELS, TIRES
Description of incident: Date: 02/25/21 Road condition: wet As I slowed to exit the highway (speed +/-55 mph), I heard a loud noise from the right rear of the vehicle. Vehicle was difficult to control until I slowed significantly. First thought was a blow-out. Was surprised by the extent of the damage to the wheel since I did not hit anything. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The right rear wheel failed. Tire was flat and showed no signs of damage. The wheel and tire are available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The instantaneous wheel failure and subsequent loss of air pressure in the right rear tire made the vehicle difficult to control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The Toyota dealership, where the vehicle was purchased, inspected the vehicle on 02/26/21. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected by the Toyota dealership on 02/26/21. Subsequently, I tried to work with Toyota at the regional and national level hoping to receive some insight into what might have caused the failure. Without an accident and injury, there was little interest in finding resolution. Toyota was unable to offer evidence that I hit something and they were unable to offer an explanation supporting the failure. Naturally, this leads me to question the integrity of the remaining wheels. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? TPMS activated.
