On [XXX] I was driving my '24 4Runner Limited with factory installed Yokohama Geolander G96 245 60 20 tires and had the driver side rear tire inner sidewall blow out. There was nothing in the road that could've hit the rear tire after missing the front tire. I called Yokohama IAW their warranty procedure. They said I'd have to take it to the dealership for inspection to see if it was defective. Called my dealership and got an appt, drove 50 miles to the dealer only to have the service rep spend MAYBE 20 seconds looking at the tire to say "it was hit by something" even though there is zero evidence of a puncture - Picture included. He didn't even dismount it to inspect the inner sidewall. He pointed at some marks on the wheel (NOT THE TIRE) saying something hit it there - ALL 5 wheels on the vehicle have the exact same CASTING MARKS - Pictures included. In fact, he spent more time questioning me about not having the dealer's "wheel/tire package" and then getting a quote to sell me a $428 tire instead of properly inspecting my tire. He even allowed my Limited rim to fall over on it's face! There are numerous pages of evidence showing that Yokohoma has an extended history of problems with this specific line of tires, as well as some of their other lines. "Since 2010, there have been 3 major tire recalls by Yokohama. Two of these are related to “inadequate markings”. The other recall involved a problem with the geometry of the tire itself. These tires had “irregular geometry” that made it more likely that the sidewall would give and blow out while the car was in motion. By “irregular geometry” Yokohama was referring to the fact that the interior of the tire’s sidewalls was not of uniform thickness. I read one article to the service rep and he immediately blew it off as "totally different circumstance", again repeating that mine was hit by something. This service rep was more interested in selling a tire than trying to find out what happened with mine. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AC

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota 4Runner equipped with Falken Tires, Tire Line: WildPeak, Tire Size: 275/70/R17, DOT: (N/A). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel and driver's seat began to vibrate violently, prompting the contact to dramatically reduce the speed of the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the four tires. The independent mechanic found an abnormally heavy spot on all four tires, preventing the tires from being properly balanced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened; however, the manufacturer provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 23,000.

We purchased our vehicle new September 2023 from a Toyota dealership. Engine oil dipstick Toyota part 15301-50140 was installed in vehicle and was verified by 50140 stamped on dipstick. I wanted an extra oil dipstick so ordered a replacement through Toyota. The original dipstick part 15301-50140 is no longer available and has been superseded by Toyota part 15301-0P060. I ordered the new dipstick part number and received it from Toyota. It is verified by 0P060 stamped on the dipstick. The safety concern is the two dipsticks are not the same length and each one requires a different quantity of engine oil to reach the Full mark. The new dipstick -0P060 is 1/2 inch shorter than the old, no longer available dipstick -50140. Most importantly the Low and Full marks are also both 1/2 inch higher up or closer to dipstick handle on the new dipstick than the old one. It takes approximately 0.9 quart more of engine oil to reach Full on the new dipstick than on the old one. One of these dipsticks is correct for my vehicle and one is not. The original dipstick is no longer available and the new dipstick is not the same as the original. The difference of 0.9 quart more or less of oil in the engine is significant and important. Too much or too little oil can damage an engine or contribute to a shorter engine life. Both of these dipsticks cannot be correct for our vehicle. I have talked to the Service Managers at two Toyota Dealerships and they do not have an answer for why these dipsticks are different. I have spoken to Parts Department people at two additional Toyota Dealerships, called Toyota Motor North America and no one has any idea why these dipsticks are different or which one I should be using. I also wrote a letter to Toyota Motor NA Headquarters over two months ago and have received no response to date. I have both dipsticks available for inspection. Toyota needs to let owners know if they should replace their old dipsticks or not on these vehicles.

The right CV joint traverses up and down. Once warmed up it loses concentricity and the steering wheel begins to shake. It does not stop until I pull off the highway The shake is completely gone when the vehicle is in 4 wheel drive. There are numerous complaints regarding this. I have taken it back to the dealer and participated in "road tests" and the steering did in fact shake and the tech stated "this is normal". This is not and it is hard to drive in a straight line. Google "4Runner steering wheel shake/wobble", thousands of complaints and Toyota refuses to replace the bearing. This is disappointing as it is covered for 6 years , 60,000miles under the powertrain warranty, yet the dealer is insistent on stringing me along until the warranty expires. The vehicle is available for inspection and I have videos to send as well if needed.

I was driving down the highway when suddenly I heard a loud noise that resembled a gunshot, and shattered glass started flying all around the front of my vehicle. It turned out my sunroof had unexpectedly exploded. It was like the car was under pressure and it was relieved through the sunroof. I had my air conditioner on and my windows up. My sunroof cover was open and broke glass managed to be scattered everywhere. This resulted in glass fragments coming into contact with my face and arms, leading to a painful burning feeling on my skin. Luckily, a Toyota dealership was 2 miles away. I immediately drove to the dealership so my vehicle could be repaired. The replacement part was not available for my vehicle so I had to stay in a hotel until my vehicle could be repaired. This incident caused me a great deal of anxiety and I don’t know if I can trust this will not happened again.

A new 4Runner over a year old has an OEM windshield safety concern. The dealership has been polite with my concerns. With normal use, the windshield has been compromised by what appears to have been the slightest road debris. I’m up to 7 repairs. All repairs at dealership except 1. I love this vehicle out of my many vehicles since 1988, even the Toyotas (i.e. Tundra, Camry, CHR, and FJ cruiser [12 years, 2 chips with 150K miles]) yet this 2023 4Runner’s windshield is defective by any logical reasoning. I’m concerned with the potential of it shattering.

When modifying the "Beep" volume which is tied to the audio beep when locking or unlocking the car, the car will then turn off the wireless ability read the key fob when using it to lock or unlock the car. The proximity feature will still function and you are still able to start the car. But you will lose functionality with all key fob buttons; lock, unlock, and panic will not be functional. This is listed in detail in the this 4Runner forums group. [XXX] This has been a known issue since 2022 and is still an issue. Toyota does not acknowledge this is a recall or an official issue. Every time an owner makes this change they are required to bring the vehicle to the dealership for them to re-enable the wireless key fob. This is an issue and must be resolved. I have access to modify my vehicles info on my own as my brother is a Toyota Tech and has the ability to do so. Please look at the forum link, there is greater detail of this issue occurring and 100s of accounts of owners reporting the issue. - #11575725March 6, 2024POWER TRAIN, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
As the vehicle was traveling on a highway at 35 mph the vehicle shut off electronically three times and powered itself back on after 15 seconds or so of continuous cruising on the highway. Unable to accelerate or control the vehicle while the electronic component shut off in the vehicle. Three days later, a series of warning lights and check engine lights turned on, which has occurred 6 other times, and has been brought to local Toyota dealer multiple times (over six times) and no fix has been conducted to repair the vehicle other than resetting the vehicles ECU. When all of the warning lights turn on, the vehicle loses 2nd gear and juts itself forward and becomes extremely difficult to control to the point where I have almost gotten into life threatening accidents over 4 times. Toyota has acknowledged that they do not know what is wrong with the vehicle and is unsure how to fix it. This is a safety concern that is not getting enough attention and needs to be rectified before someone or myself ends up killing ourselves

On [XXX] while driving approximately 60 mph on a straight smooth highway only about 4 miles from my home my 4 Runner started violently shaking. The whole vehicle was shaking like the wheels were going to fall off. The steering wheel was shaking and I was shaking due to the amount of vibration. I did not depress the brakes for fear it would flip and crash. I let off the accelerator to slow down carefully and find a spot to pull off the highway. As I got slower I checked the onboard tire pressure which indicated all tires were holding correct amounts of air. About 3/4 to a mile from the time the shaking started it stopped shaking and about a quarter mile later it did it one more time for a few seconds. After that it did not occur again. After making a couple stops along my day I was driving at about 40mph when the big red box that reads BREAK came on while the vehicle made a loud beeping noise over and over until the light went off. There were no vehicles in front of me to cause the anti collision alert to deploy. As of [XXX] Toyota of Fayetteville, Arkansas has my vehicle to check this issue. They are also replacing my front facing camera that has finally arrived after months of waiting for it to be delivered. It was found to be defective shortly after purchase August or September 2023. I only had the vehicle for a few weeks when the camera stopped working. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

TRD PRO MODEL Clunk at low speeds. FOX shocks on TRD PRO make clunking sound at low speeds. Toyota replaced 3 shocks under warranty. The 3rd one they charged me labor but covered the shock. Car has highway miles and very little time spent off road as I live in NY. As of today clunking is back in full force. Seems to be an ongoing problem if you google clunking fox shocks Toyota TRD 4Runner.

While pulling this vehicle in to my garage about halfway in the brake pedal went to the floor and the vehicle hit a bench on the opposite side of the entrance. After pumping the brakes after waiting about 10 minutes they seemed to work normally. I backed the vehicle out of the garage and saw NO fluid under the vehicle. The next morning the vehicle was towed the the dealer collision shop and then taken to the service department at the dealer. This problem; ,after almost 2 months was never solved....corporate offices checked the data recorder...no conclusions.....and implied this problem did not occur. The body is now being repaired yet no brake problem has been ever repaired. ( under warranty....31,967 miles ). I understand a similar problem occured in New Jersey although on the road and the driver had to be removed through the sunroof and the vehicle was totaled.

November 2023, my 13 year old daughter and I were involved in a car accident. A vehicle made a left hand turn in front of us and we collided (t-boned) the passenger side of the other vehicle. There were no warning lights, notifications of car crossing in in front of us, the assisted brake system did not activate, the air bags did not deploy, the on car assistance showed no accident reported. Other than the seat belts in the vehicle, no other safety features engaged. We have not been able to locate anyone who can confirm why no of the safety features did not work. Why did none of the safety features work and who can I contact. We no longer feel safe in this vehicle .

Static tire failure of the left rear tire. OEM Nitto ridge grappler dot# [XXX] ; 265/70r17. Parked car and was inside a church for an hour. No issues with tire, all 4 tpms pressures read 37 psi. When returning to the vehicle noticed the flat, changed on the spot with the full size spare. It appears as though the sidewall structure/belt failed, taking the rubber with it. Tear is on the inside of the mounted wheel, and is inconsistent with a cut or puncture from a foreign object. I will save the failed tire if you guys would like it for analysis. I want to emphasize, no additional damage to the structure from vehicle movement, satic failure, and the belt was stressed/cycled once as the vehicles weight was lowered as air pressure went to zero and removed as the vehicle was raised for removal and replacement. Vehicle has never been used for 4 wheeling, and no more than a few miles accrued from off pavement driving. Only tow mileage is approximately 400 to 500 with a dual jet ski trailer (gross trailer weight: 2500 lbs) Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
