At around 80k miles, started getting the service anti-lock brake system, electronic braking system alarms. Traction control light and abs light are on permanently now. What's funny is that now the rear parking sensor failed which makes me wonder if all this in the electrical system is tied together. Dealer said it was the hydraulic control unit. That did not fix it. Next it was a wheel speed sensor. That did not fix it. Then it was abs module but it is "discontinued." In other words, Chrysler knows there is a major issue and NEEDS to issue a recall but hasn't yet! I have over a grand in this and it's not fixed. Dealer said that they don't know what the fix is. Please issue a recall!

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:FLUID/LUBRICANT:VALVES/VALVE BODY, POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:CLUTCHES/BANDS:ACTUATORS/SOLENOIDS
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30-35 MPH, the transmission became stuck in second gear and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 35 MPH. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact used a scanner and retrieved DTC codes for pressure and gear ratio faults. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, and it was determined that the failure was due to the valve body and shift solenoid. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 105,369.

•abs pump motor control general electrical failure •no abs or traction control •yes has been confirmed on a professional scanner •no •no lights until it went bad again Replaced the and/hcu in October of 2020 due to the dtc c0020-01 and all was fixed until June of 2024 and now the same code is back. Not wanting to replace the same part again just for it to go bad in 2 years.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the ABS warning light intermittently illuminated, and the message "Must Park Vehicle" was displayed. Additionally, during the failure the cruise control and trailer brake control features were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ABS module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact was informed that the part for the repair was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Intermittent MIL stating ABS and TCS service required, started has been going on since I bought the truck in January 2023 at about 50k miles (currently about 75k). Often happens when driving over any sort of uneven terrain - bumps, potholes, seams between concrete and asphalt surfaces, milled asphalt surfaces, speed bumps, debris, etc. Dealer says the ABS module needs to be replaced, and that there are none available. With some research, this appears to be a common/known issue for Ram trucks, but no recall and no effort to even manufacture the part so it can be fixed, regardless who is stuck with the bill. When this light comes on, neither 4WD nor cruise control function, which can cause safety concerns - especially while towing.

SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The ABS module has failed. There aren’t any available across the entire United States in order to fix our vehicle. We have no ABS, no cruise control, no trailer brakes. We can’t get any help or answers from Ram. We have started a case with them and cannot even get a call back. The dealer cannot even order the part.

2017 Ram 2500 needs HCU and ABS modules dealer diagnosted the problem 2/29/24 parts are still not available to fix. I read there’s many of us with this problem it should be a recall, I shouldn’t have to pay $1635.00 to repair it.

The ABS and electronic brake system service warning is going off. I scheduled an appointment and the Ram dealer and after inspection claims that HCU-ABS Hydraulic Control unit needs to be replaced. This seems to be a very common issue with the RAM 2017 2500 model.

ABS module unit replaced while under warranty. Vehicle again with ABS warning on/off intermittently for at least the last several months...regardless of weather, speed, road conditions, etc. Comes on and off while driving, sitting in a parking lot...pretty much as soon as I turn on the motor it starts...goes off again for several minutes/hours/days, then starts doing the blinking and dinging again for no reason. While traveling, it turns off cruise control and I have lost 4 wheel drive when I've desperately needed it. This vehicle is only used for long distance travel or during snow storms. This is a safety issue, in my opinion. Causes operational malfunction and causes driver distraction.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal was soft, and the vehicle failed to respond as needed. Several warning lights related to the braking system were illuminated. Additionally, the speedometer became inoperable. The contact drove to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 44,020.

ABS and traction control lights intermittently go on and off. Most of the time just by driving over a bump. Constantly going on and off. Many forums online about this related issue. Many talk about pump being replaced and not solving or the Hydraulic Control Module replaced and not solving and many talk about faulty electrical connections. The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds and towing a trailer, the gooseneck ball detached from the bed of the truck and the trailer disconnected from the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over safely. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18E028000 (Trailer Hitches). The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that there was no recall coverage for the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

"CHECK ABS SYSTEM" LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON/OFF. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON EVERY TIME I HIT THE BRAKES IT CHIMES. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2017/2018 RAM 2500/3500 TRUCKS AND THAT THE ABS MODULE/PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT THEY HAVE BEEN ON BACK ORDER FOR OVER A YEAR. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THERE ARE LOADS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THE DEALER SAYS THAT I SHOULD "BE CAREFUL" DRIVING THE TRUCK AS THE ABS NOT WORKING COULD INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
On my truck my ABS and traction control light came on as well as a message that say to service ABS system. The parts are on back order for a year now. This problem has surfaced on many Ram 2500's. I contacted the dealer and they don't have parts to fix if. When driving in wet conditions especially while towing a trailer the wheels lock up while breaking. I've been towing going down hill and have had to use a combination of engine breaking, downshifting and feathering the brakes to slow down. Chrysler Fiat should issue a recall on this issue since it happens to many Ram 2500. This started when I had only 38k miles on my truck. Chrysler fiat has issued a recall for the 2019+ trucks but not the 2014-2018 which have the same exact problem. I'm hoping you can help this matter.

SERVICE BRAKES
Problem System: Antilock Brake System. ABS hydraulic control unit and ABS module were replaces due to dash warning lights "service antilock brake system." After aprox one year, the warning lights have started coming on intermittently. Sometimes the warning will activate and be consistent, and other times (usually in warmer, dry weather) the warning may occur once and go away for days or weeks. Sometimes it is constant for days. I paid over $1200 for my first repair and just received a similar quote to do it again. I know there have been many complaints about the RAM 2017 - 2018 ABS systems and I feel it's time the NHTSA pursue RAM and put some pressure on them to do something about this.
