Vehicle: 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC Recall Reference: NHTSA Campaign #26V073 / High-Voltage Battery Fire Hazard My vehicle is subject to an active safety recall concerning internal high-voltage battery failure that poses a direct risk of a vehicle fire while driving or parked. The manufacturer has instructed owners to limit battery charging to a maximum of 80% and to park the vehicle outside away from structures due to fire hazards. On October 20, 2026, Mercedes-Benz USA Customer Retention Management formally notified me in writing that the estimated remedy/parts availability date for this high-voltage battery replacement is December 2026. Being forced to operate a vehicle with an active battery fire risk for over two years without a fix severely compromises the safety of my household, neighbors, and workplace. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz USA has formally declined my request for a vehicle repurchase/buyback. I am filing this complaint to document the extreme safety risk and the unreasonable delay in providing a safety remedy.

I am currently leasing a 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+. The vehicle displayed a warning related to the high-voltage battery system, indicating a potential malfunction and safety risk. I was advised that there may be an issue involving the high-voltage battery that could lead to battery failure and/or an increased risk of fire. Due to this warning, I no longer feel the vehicle is safe to operate or park near my home or other structures. The warning first appeared on the vehicle's dashboard while the vehicle was in normal use. The condition creates a significant safety concern because a high-voltage battery failure could potentially result in loss of propulsion, vehicle disablement, or a battery thermal event. The vehicle has been inspected and/or is scheduled for inspection by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. The issue was brought to the attention of Mercedes-Benz of Rocklin. During my communications with the dealership, I was advised to pursue a vehicle buyback due to the severity of the situation and concerns surrounding the high-voltage battery. However, after I began pursuing that option, I was later informed that a buyback would not proceed. This conflicting guidance has left me with a vehicle that I have concerns about operating safely. Although I was initially led to believe the issue was significant enough to warrant a buyback, I am still in possession of the vehicle and continue to have concerns regarding the safety and reliability of the high-voltage battery system. The vehicle can be made available for inspection upon request. I am submitting this complaint because I believe a potential defect involving the high-voltage battery system presents a risk to drivers, passengers, and the public. I request that NHTSA review and investigate this issue to determine whether additional action is necessary to protect consumers.

I was driving very slowly down a residential side street and started to pull over to the right side to park behind a car. This parking spot was on a slight incline and the curb was made up of two slanted cobblestones. After I moved in to position within about 2 ft from the car in front of me, my car quickly accelerated and slammed in to it. While I did not notice it at the time, after noticing the nature of the damage to both cars, it appeared as though the car may have tried to swerve from the curb. I believe the front sensors detected there was something in the way and the car swerved left hitting the parked car in front of me. There were no warnings before the event and I did not notice the warnings on the dashboard when the car collided because I was too upset and got out quickly, but I definitely noticed that the dashboard was lit up. Progressive Insurance, Mercedes Customer Service and Hanover MA Dealership, and Norwell Collision have all since been involved. The car was towed to the body shop immediately after the incident. Mercedes Service at first advised me to keep the car as is until they had a chance to run tests, but then advised us to get the car repaired at the body shop so we didn't wait to long to get it back (I had told them that I would not drive it again unless Mercedes ran full diagnostics and convinced me that it was safe to drive). The body shop made the repairs and then delivered the car to Mercedes Hanover to run tests. They believe the car is fine and are delivering it back to the body shop where we are supposed to pick it up. Progressive has mailed claim checks which we are using to pay the body shop, however this is not an admittance of any wrong doing. I strongly believe that the car was at fault.

My 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB250 (VIN: [XXX]) is currently sidelined at Mercedes-Benz of Pompano with a dangerous High-Voltage system failure that causes an immediate cascade error of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and vehicle braking systems. The technician verified the codes match Mercedes Service Bulletin LI42.45-P-079407 for an HV DC/DC Converter defect and matched my serial number to the bad batch. The vehicle simultaneously carries an active Federal Safety Recall for an internal High-Voltage Battery Pack explosion/fire risk (NHTSA Campaign 26V073). Mercedes-Benz USA Corporate (Case #[XXX]) and Service Director Hayden Smith are actively refusing to honor the 8-year/100,000-mile High-Voltage warranty on this converter. Furthermore, the dealership is threatening to charge me 'late fees' to strip away alternative loaner transportation. They are actively attempting to force a consumer to either pay $5,800 out-of-pocket for a warrantied high-voltage component or drive a compromised EV powertrain that violates the manufacturer's own outdoor parking safety mandates, as the owner resides in an apartment complex with an enclosed underground garage. I own a 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC, VIN [XXX], manufactured in XXX. I am requesting a formal safety review regarding NHTSA recall 26V073, involving potential high-voltage battery fires. The official NHTSA recall report lists XXX, as the last affected vehicle production date. However, page 5 states that the supplier production correction became effective for vehicles produced from XXX onward. My vehicle was manufactured between these dates but does not appear to qualify for the replacement recall. I do have multiple battery charging failures. I have reached out to benz as well. Please open a formal customer assistance case, provide a case number, and respond in writing with the findings of your technical review. Thank you. The rear liftgate glass (backlite) of the vehicle shattered spontaneously while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied inside a closed parking garage on 09/30/2026. There was no break-in, no impact, no vandalism, and no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure. The entire tempered-glass pane crazed and partially collapsed with no visible point of impact, consistent with spontaneous tempered-glass failure caused by a nickel sulfide inclusion, a documented glass manufacturing defect. The failed glass is being replaced through the owner's insurance by Safelite AutoGlass. The selling dealer, Mercedes of Seattle, declined to inspect the vehicle and stated they had never heard of such a failure; the problem has not been inspected or confirmed by the manufacturer, a dealer, or an independent service center. Although no one was injured because the vehicle was unoccupied, the same failure while the vehicle is occupied or in motion could shower occupants with glass fragments and eliminate rearward visibility. The complainant asks NHTSA to investigate whether this indicates a glass manufacturing defect trend.

My vehicle battery overheated. The dealership was unable to identify the cause. I have since learned there is a battery recall on this make and model, and I believe the recall needs to be expanded to include my vehicle and the overheating was likely caused by the battery failing.

I own a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC. My vehicle has multiple unresolved high-voltage battery safety recalls. Recall 25V050/MBUSA campaign 2025040005 concerns a potential internal battery-cell short circuit and fire risk. I had the BMS software update performed, but Mercedes later issued recall 26V073 because the software remedy was not considered sufficient for all affected vehicles. Recall 26V073 requires complete high-voltage battery replacement. Until that repair is completed, Mercedes instructs owners to park outside and away from structures and limit charging to 80%. My vehicle also shows recall 25V487/MBUSA campaign 2025070009 as pending. This recall concerns a battery busbar connection that could cause sudden loss of propulsion without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. Despite the ongoing fire-risk and loss-of-propulsion concerns, I have not been provided a firm, VIN-specific date for the battery replacement. The safety restrictions significantly limit my ability to use and safely park the vehicle. I am concerned that the permanent remedy remains unavailable while I continue to make lease payments.

he vehicle intermittently fails to shift from Park (P) to Drive (D). Recently, the car was completely immobilized for over 6 hours because the gear would not engage, making it dangerous and unpredictable to drive. Additionally, the vehicle has experienced multiple charging failures where charging repeatedly cuts off unexpectedly. A formal diagnosis from Mercedes-Benz of Cary confirmed a front axle drive unit failure and high-voltage insulation faults, triggering codes U041A00 and P154800. Crucially, the certified technician noted a grinding noise coming from the axle drive module, which occurs specifically when slowing down. These symptoms perfectly mirror the known manufacturing defects outlined in NHTSA Recall 24V331 for the 2022 EQB front axle drivetrain failure. Despite clear connections to documented, catastrophic high-voltage safety hazards, Mercedes-Benz USA has denied warranty coverage and is demanding an outrageous repair cost of over $14,000 from the owner.

I am the owner of a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB that has been identified as being affected by the current high-voltage battery safety recall. I recently contacted my authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer regarding the recall and was informed that the recall is currently pending for my vehicle and that the permanent remedy is not expected to begin until approximately December. I understand that the interim safety guidance associated with this recall includes limiting charging to 80% and parking the vehicle outside and away from structures. I have a significant concern regarding the parking instruction. My vehicle is normally parked in an attached garage at my condominium. The garage is connected to my residence, and my HOA does not permit me to park the vehicle outside. Therefore, I do not have a practical way to comply with the instruction to park outside and away from structures. I specifically raised this issue with the service department. I was told verbally that I could continue parking the vehicle in my garage “at my discretion.”

BATTER RECALL FIRE SAFETY: I have a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ affected by NHTSA safety recall 26V073. Mercedes has acknowledged that the high-voltage battery can fail internally and cause a fire. I’m instructed to charge only to 80% and park outside away from structures, and Mercedes’ latest remedy requires replacement of the entire high-voltage battery. This is already a low range vehicle and limiting to max 140 miles on interstate before having to charge 45 minutes is a nightmare. I need to drive between states for work and this is just simply not feasible after doing so for months without a solution. The first recall was March 2025 with no fix.

The affected component is the high-voltage traction battery and related battery management and bus-bar connection systems. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I am reporting a safety concern because my vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall 25V050, which identifies a risk that the high-voltage battery could fail internally and cause a fire while parked or driving. It is also subject to NHTSA Recall 25V487, which identifies a defect involving the high-voltage battery bus-bar connection that may cause a sudden loss of drive power without warning. A battery fire could endanger vehicle occupants and people or property near a parked vehicle. A sudden loss of propulsion while driving could increase the risk of a crash. I have not personally experienced a vehicle fire or a sudden loss of drive power. However, I am being asked to continue operating and making lease payments on a vehicle with identified high-voltage battery safety defects and no completed effective remedy available for my vehicle. The currently available guidance limits charging to 80%, which reduces the vehicle’s usable range and practical value. The vehicle’s recall status has been confirmed through NHTSA and Mercedes-Benz recall information. To my knowledge, no dealer repair has been completed that eliminates these safety concerns. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or an independent service center in connection with an incident because no crash, fire, or loss-of-power event has occurred. Before any failure, I have not observed a warning lamp, warning message, or other battery-related symptom. My concern is that Recall 25V487 describes a potential sudden loss of drive power without warning, and Recall 25V050 identifies a potential battery-fire risk, including while the vehicle is parked.

My 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 4MATIC (VIN [XXX]) is subject to NHTSA Recall 26V073 / MBUSA campaign 2026020004 for a high-voltage battery defect that may cause a thermal event/fire while parked or driving. Mercedes-Benz has determined that the permanent remedy requires replacement of the high-voltage battery, but MBUSA has confirmed that a replacement battery is not currently available for my VIN and has provided no firm repair date. Pending repair, Mercedes instructs owners to limit charging to 80% and park outside rather than in a garage or enclosed structure. These restrictions materially impair normal use. My wife's work requires frequent travel between [XXX] and [XXX], plus secure indoor garage parking at federal government facilities. The 80% charge restriction reduces usable range, while the required indoor parking conflicts with Mercedes' safety guidance. MBUSA has also confirmed in writing that my VIN is currently subject to a recall-related stop-sale and that sale restrictions remain until the recall remedy becomes available. An authorized Mercedes dealer has declined to provide a normal trade valuation because of the recall/stop-sale situation. MBUSA reviewed and denied my repurchase request, offering only possible loaner, storage, or rental assistance. I am filing this complaint to document that the permanent safety remedy is unavailable, the interim restrictions materially impair use, and the vehicle is under stop-sale with no firm remedy date. I request that NHTSA review the remedy delay and whether acceleration or other recall action is warranted. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle: 2023 Mercedes‑Benz EQB VIN: [XXX] MBUSA Case #: XXX NHTSA Recall #: 26V073000 Mercedes‑Benz USA has mishandled recall 26V073000 (fire hazard) and left me without transportation. I was told the vehicle is unsafe to drive, which has caused significant anxiety, panic attacks, and ongoing stress because I have no safe way to commute or manage daily responsibilities. MBUSA repeatedly promised a loaner vehicle, but the dealership stated they were never contacted, had no instructions, and had no loaner available. MBUSA later said I could receive a rental car “upon eligible dealership,” but they did not specify which dealership, and after calling multiple Mercedes‑Benz locations, all confirmed they had no information, no authorization, and no process for rental reimbursement or recall support. MBUSA has provided conflicting and misleading information, failed to coordinate with dealerships, and failed to provide transportation during a fire‑hazard recall. This has caused loss of use, mental distress, and safety exposure. I request investigation into MBUSA for failure to properly administer recall 26V073000, failure to provide transportation during a safety recall, and misrepresentation of recall remedies.
