  Some 2022 – 2024 model year NX 250 and NX 350, and 2023 – 2024 model year RX 350 vehiclesmay exhibit the following condition at vehicle startup when the vehicle is in Park: • A “Shift System Malfunction” message on the Multi-information Display (MID), as shown below. This condition is more likely to occur when the outside temperatures are near freezing. The Shift Actuator ECU logic has been modified to reduce the possibility of these conditions.

Follow the procedures in this bulletin to remediate the odor and address this condition. The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to provide general guidelines and procedures for odor remediation. This Service Bulletin provides a guide on how to prepare and treat the interior of the vehicle for odor remediation. Refer to the applicable model and model year Repair Manuals and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website for the most up-to-date safety and precautionary guidelines.
