- #11720825February 26, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
With adaptive cruise control engaged and set on any of the four options, my odyssey’s speed slows down for a short time period then speeds up again as I approach the vehicle I intend to pass. This happens when my odyssey is about a car length behind the vehicle I intend to pass. This happens when I’m passing a vehicle on the left or right side. This doesn’t happen every time I pass a vehicle with adaptive cruse control engaged. I had this odyssey in a Honda dealership shop today, February 26, 2026, to hopefully fix this issue. I can’t confirm this but was told by the service agent at the dealership that when this happens, the brake lights will turn on. The fix the dealership service recommended was to set the adaptive cruse control to the minimum following distance setting. I’m going to quote the service technician’s written comment word for word. “Have found this to be a pretty normal symptom of the adaptive cruse system.” I take that as meaning, the service technician has seen this before and it is normal for this vehicle. If this is “normal”, there is a major safety issue with this odyssey. On the way home from the appointment at the dealership service department I had the adaptive cruse control at it’s closest following setting. I passed a vehicle on the left and this issue happened again. When I got home, I called the service manager and told him my odyssey did have the same issue of slowing down even though the adaptive cruse control was set to the closest following distance setting. One more thing to note, the service technician did take my odyssey for a test drive and did experience and there for confirm the above stated issue with the vehicle slowing down. I did speak with the service manager at the Honda dealership about this issue. He was unaware of any other vehicle with this issue and said he would check into it and get back to me. I purchased this odyssey new on January 16, 2025. This problem existed since the day I have owned it.

Rear lift gate randomly opens and closes automatically while driving and when parked. My kids were in the back seat and there were groceries in the trunk that could have fallen out. Dealership said it's not a recall, and that it is due to a bad weather stripping around the rear window allowing water into the lift gate and damage the controls.

Before my vehicle reached the 100,000-mile mark, the check engine light began appearing intermittently. I brought the car to my local dealership multiple times, but they were unable to provide a diagnosis and repeatedly reset the light. Once the light remained on permanently, the dealer finally identified a known Honda recall/extended warranty issue and replaced the spark plugs at no cost. However, approximately six months after that repair, the check engine light returned. The dealership has now diagnosed a failure in both the front and rear catalytic converters at a cost of $5200 to replace them. I need to replace to pass my state of Illinois car emissions tests. I have been working with Honda Goodwill Assistance (Case #161-655-70), but their offer to cover only 20% of the replacement cost is unacceptable. This failure is not a standard "wear and tear" issue; it is a direct consequence of the spark plug issues I repeatedly attempted to address before my warranty expired. I was told the 20% determination was based on my vehicle exceeding 100,000 miles, but this fails to account for the fact that I brought the car in for this specific issue multiple times while it was still under warranty. I am looking for Honda corporate to acknoweldge the new spark plugs they directed my dealer to install caused this issue and cover the cost of the repairs. My local Honda dealer service manager, Brian, is willing to speak on this issue on my behalf. He can be reached at [XXX] . The contact owns a 2016 Honda Odyssey. While the contact's wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the DTC: P0301 (Cylinder #1 misfire) was displayed. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the road and turned off. The driver attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle restarted. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with spark plug failures due to an oil leak. The six spark plugs were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a year later, the contact received an extended warranty regarding the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact requested to be reimbursed for the repair. The contact stated that the initial reimbursement request was denied. The contact resubmitted the case and all the requested documentation. The contact submitted all the requested documentation. In addition, the contact stated that the mileage was under the mileage limit. The failure mileage was approximately 89,689.

"Emissions system problem" engine warning light has been on for quite some time. I know there is a service bulletin related to this issue, but my VIN is not covered. There are also several other warning lights that occasionally pop up, and my Honda dealer believes these are all related to the initial warning light. They mentioned that sometimes these systems start shutting down so the vehicle runs properly. Recently I received "transmission system prolem" (in conjunction with the slew of warning lights I have frequently been getting). No apparent issues until recently when I was driving on the interstate. The engine started to become very loud and when I looked at the RPMs it was very high, over 5,000 RPMs. The car wasn't shifting out of first gear at 55MPH. I immediately slowed down and got off the interstate as soon as possible. After arriving home, we unhooked the battery, re-installed, and all of the warning lights were gone. Again, the Honda dealer believes all of these issues were realted to the "emissions system problem", which is part of a service bulletin that should be covered by warranty extension. I beleive my VIN should be included, and the recent transmission system problem which happened on the interstate was very dangerous and could have ended very badly, had I not been in tune with what was happening.

- #11720173February 24, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Issue Description: My 2018 Honda Odyssey (VIN: [XXX] ) has a total failure of the Multipurpose Camera, permanently disabling the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS). In addition to these, the regular Cruise Control is also disabled. These are primary safety systems, not elective conveniences. Persistent Failure: Errors occur immediately upon every startup. Mid-Drive Danger: Systems have deactivated multiple times while in motion, causing sudden, unpredictable loss of driver-assist features at highway speeds. Total Loss of Control: Both Adaptive and Standard Cruise Control are completely disabled, forcing manual-only operation. Infrastructure Failure: The failure prevents the vehicle from recognizing lane markings (RDM/LKAS), leaving the car unable to assist in steering corrections. Safety Risk: The vehicle can no longer perform emergency braking or provide collision alerts, significantly increasing the risk of high-speed crashes. This is a premature failure of a non-wear safety electronic at 91k miles. It is a severe safety defect that leaves the vehicle unequipped with the crash-prevention technology it was designed to have. Manufacturer Response: American Honda (Case #16167889) and NCDS (Case #XXX) denied assistance, citing the expired 3yr/36k warranty. I contend this is an extension of the known electrical architecture defects in this model year (e.g., Recall 23V-431), and a component intended for the life of the vehicle should not fail such that it disables multiple safety systems simultaneously. Engine failed while driving, will no longer start. Mechanic believe it is either connecting rod or main bearing failure. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer and will be sold to another person as is. No warning lamps or messages were present prior to the failure and didn't appear until after the failure.

i bought this van brand new for over $53000 and it has been hesitating to start for months. i had the battery tested and came back good. The van hesitates to start and sometimes i have to redo the push button because it fails to start the first time. Yesterday, 02/23/2026 the van left myself and the kids stranded at walmart. it would not start for anything yet the lights and radio work and acted like it was not the battery. i had to call my husband to come get us. we went back hours later to jump it and it started. something is faulty with the started or electrical system to start it. i have another appointment to test the battery and i know its going to test good because i just had this done a month ago and it still hesitates to start. i am not impressed at all and readying online that i am not the only one having this problem. it needs looked into.

Over a period of the last several months when the auto idle stop engages at intersections (red lights, stop signs, etc) the vehicle will intermittently fail to restart. The vehicle stalls entirely and goes into a state where you are unable to restart the vehicle for anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. This is a very dangerous situation and each time have had other motorists honking and frustrated that the vehicle is not going when the light turns green. The vehicle is currently at the Honda dealership for the third time to attempt to repair this issue. The first time it was returned to me and I was told no issues found, the second time (after multiple more failures on road) was told the battery was faulty. The battery was replaced but the failures to restart continue. I can see that there are many claims of this same issue with Honda, however in our experience with this vehicle, very little has been done by Honda to solve this major safety issue.

The driver-side power sliding door latch, motor and cable system on my 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite failed. Honda performed Recall A88 (sliding door handle cable repair) in 2021. After this repair the door began intermittently failing to close fully and would close about 80% before the sensor triggered it to reopen. This continued until this week when the door suddenly stopped latching completely. The automatic door buttons no longer work and the door can only be moved manually. I believe my vehicle should also be included in recalls Z33 and O36 addressing sliding door latch failures affecting similar 2019 Odyssey vehicles. The failed components are available for inspection upon request. This defect creates a serious passenger safety hazard. Because the door will not latch, it opens while driving. The automatic function does not work and the door can be moved manually but will not latch. This creates risk of passenger ejection, especially children, and the possibility of the door opening during a crash. The vehicle is unsafe to operate. Yes. The failure was reproduced and confirmed by a Honda dealership that inspected and diagnosed the sliding door failure. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership and I was charged a diagnostic fee. Honda refused recall or goodwill coverage because my VIN is not included. I request the repair be performed free under recalls Z33 and O36 and the diagnostic fee reimbursed. I am waiting for NHTSA inspection and request Honda be required to include my vehicle and repair it at no cost. Before total failure the door would close about 80% and automatically reopen. When it stopped working this week, the dashboard displayed a “Left Sliding Door Problem” warning and the vehicle produced continuous beeping while driving.

Reporting a failure of Safety Recall 23-046 / NHTSA Campaign 23V431000 on US vehicle. Post-recall 'remedy,' the vehicle suffers with the same MOST Network error and from severe parasitic battery drain as described in Honda Service Bulletin 23-061. This led to a total electrical failure and vehicle grounding in -24°C temperatures. This systemic MOST Bus network defect was previously the subject of the Conti v. American Honda (2:19-cv-02160) settlement. The vehicle is currently grounded at a dealership in Canada, and Honda Canada refuses to acknowledge the failure of the recall remedy or the resulting consequential damages (battery/starter failure). I am filing this to report an ineffective recall remedy on a US-certified vehicle. I have tried establishing contact with Honda US however there has been no response from them

The fuel injectors emaeem to be malfunctioning and the OBD for emissions is lighting up. It has been inspected by the dealer and confirmed it needs to be replaced. The OBD code is P219A and this causes misfire and potential stalling of the vehicle. Honda has issued several TSBs but none have my VIN. Some of the TSBs are TSB A18-025, TSB A21-010 and TSB ONLN9403292021. It has been inspected by Honda dealer and confirmed to be a issue but no action unless I pay them a lot of money. I would like to see if NHTSA can help to add my vin number to the list or help me get Honda to repair my vehicle.

The sunroof/moon roof glass suddenly popped and exploded. No debris of any kind or any car was near me. My car was alone. The roof spontaneously made a “pop” sound and exploded. I’m lucky I wasn’t killed, injured, or in an accident. Glass that explodes and shatters can cause serious harm. There is obviously some sort of defect in Honda’s sunroof glass. Please investigate this thoroughly.

- #11719241February 19, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VISIBILITY/WIPER, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
The vehicle previously received a manufacturer dash wiring recall repair. After the recall repair was completed, the vehicle began experiencing intermittent and cascading electrical and communication failures across multiple integrated systems. Affected systems include Apple CarPlay, the DVD system, in-vehicle camera systems, CabinWatch, and repeated “MOST network unavailable” error messages. These failures occur intermittently and result in multiple systems disabling simultaneously. The vehicle was inspected by a Honda dealership, which confirmed the issue involves wiring within the dash harness. The dealership stated the affected wiring is not sold or serviceable separately and that correction would require replacement of the entire dash harness, but that this portion of the harness is not included in the original recall coverage. Because these systems share common power and communication pathways, failures cascade across multiple modules. When the camera system fails, rear view camera functionality and related warnings are unavailable while backing up, reducing the driver’s ability to detect obstacles, pedestrians, or children behind the vehicle. When CabinWatch is unavailable, the driver is unable to visually monitor children seated in the rear rows while driving, which affects situational awareness and the ability to respond quickly to unsafe conditions inside the vehicle. These failures also impact driver information systems and create intermittent loss of critical visual feedback, increasing driver distraction as systems drop out unexpectedly while the vehicle is in operation. The condition began after the recall repair and appears to be related to or a continuation of the original recall defect. The vehicle remains available for inspection, and the condition has been confirmed by a manufacturer-authorized dealer.
