•Symptom Description: While driving straight at highway speeds (typically between 50 and 70 mph), the steering wheel temporarily locks or catches in a central "notch." When making routine micro-corrections to stay centered in the lane, the wheel physically resists. •The "Catch" Release: To overcome this resistance, I must apply deliberate physical force to "break the wheel free." Once it breaks loose, the sudden loss of resistance causes the vehicle to jerk slightly, making it difficult to maintain a smooth, safe line of travel. •Systems Eliminated: This issue persists regardless of whether the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) or Road Departure Mitigation (MDS/RDM) are turned on or off. This is a physical, mechanical resistance in the steering column or gearbox, not an electronic driver-assist intervention. •Diagnostic Note: Because this is a mechanical friction/binding issue within the steering components, it does not trigger a dashboard warning light (MIL) or store an electronic diagnostic trouble code (DTC). A standard computer scan will show no faults. These micro adjustments make it difficult to stay centered in the driving lane, putting myself and others at risk of injury. Aggravation and frustration grow the longer the car is driven. The car was inspected at a local Honda dealer and it was suggested that the rack and pinion steering mechanism be replaced at a cost of $5,625.31. I further enquired to Honda Corporate Goodwill Assistance for help repairing this problem (case #16673404) and was told that there would be no financial reimbursement available. The car is drivable but I will not be taking it on any long drives (over an hour) due to this condition.

My 2020 Honda CR-V (approx. 51,000 miles) developed steering resistance and an intermittent creaking noise when turning in either direction, with noticeable resistance when turning the steering wheel to the left. No warning light came on. It happens at speeds under 45 mph, during lane changes, curves, and after driving for awhile. On October 12, 2026, Tampa Honda (Tampa, FL) road-tested the vehicle and confirmed the concern. The technician traced the noise to the electronic power steering gear assembly. With the outer tie rod ends disconnected to isolate the gear, resistance in the steering was still present. The dealer recommended replacing the electronic power steering gear assembly, estimated at $5,296.28. American Honda declined goodwill assistance. Safety risk: resistance in the steering requires extra effort and can cause the driver to over-correct, especially at highway speed, increasing the risk of leaving the lane or a collision. The symptoms match those in Honda recall 24V-744 and NHTSA investigation EA23-003 (momentary increased steering effort from a defective EPS gearbox worm wheel), which covered 2022-2025 Civics and 2023-2025 CR-Vs but not the 2020 CR-V. Honda has also replaced EPS gearboxes on the same CR-V generation for manufacturing defects (recall 18V-663, 2017-2018 CR-V; Product Update 22-011, 2022 CR-V). Many other 2020 CR-V owners have reported similar gearbox failures to NHTSA at low mileage. I ask NHTSA to determine whether 2017-2022 CR-V EPS gearboxes share the worm wheel, spring, lubrication process or supplier involved in 24V-744, and whether the recall scope should be extended to the 2020 CR-V.

2022 Honda crv. The battery was old and had low voltage. There were no warnings of this and no issues starting car. While idling at light at intersection the entire car just died. It was on and there was power to it, but everything broke and it appeared like there was some kind of major electrical disfunction. No steering no brakes could not shift could not turn car on or off. Towed to Honda dealer. They replaced battery and confirmed this can happen on the road while idling if battery is getting old. Very dangerous

Breaks deploy while driving 3am with no other vehicles around. There were no obstructions, debris or vehicles in sight for miles & my auto-braking system engaged causing my car to go from 45 down to a severe lower rate with lights flashing "auto brakes" & my head/neck to whip forward towards windshield. This was just one of the many times including while driving on XXX highway that could cause accidents!! Please investigate this problem further. Thank You. The steering is sticky. It feels stuck when going around curves. This creates a jerky driving experience and I'm worried it could cause an accident on wet or icy roads.

**Loss of propulsion at highway speed - 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Approximately 3 months before submitting this complain, I was driving my 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid at approximately 60mph when the vehicle suddenly stopped responding to the accelerator pedal. The gasoline engine was still running, but pressing the accelerator produced no propulsion. A dashboard warning light came on. I believe it may have been the check-engine light, but I do not recall with certainty whether it was flashing or steady. I had to bring the vehicle to a stop and turn it off and restart it. Propulsion returned after restarting the vehicle. The incident was dangerous because it occurred at highway speed and left me unable to accelerate with traffic. Restarting the vehicle restored propulsion, but I am concerned that the problem could recur unexpectedly. I had happened a few times before (8/9/26, 9/24/26 and 9/28/26). I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving sudden loss of motive power. I ask NHTSA to consider the report in connection with its investigation of alleged loss of propulsion in 2020-2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid vehicles, including Preliminary Evaluation PE25016, if applicable. I do not know the underlying mechanical or electronic cause of the failure. I have taken it to a Honda dealer (Oursman Bethesda) and while they indicate there may be a fix, they cannot apply it as they have no evidence that the problem exists.

Driving on I-69 with all adaptive systems on including cruise control set at 65 miles per hour. The car had slowed to about 60 due to ahead car. . It started raining rather hard, a message said the Honda emblem was dirty and it automatically disabled all adaptive systems leaving the car moving at about 60 miles per hour without warning. I fortunately manually braked to avoid a rear collision. This disabling procedure happens to fast to be safe in traffic or at higher speeds.

Spouse parked the car in the garage, turned off motor. It was left in reverse gear, but car was off. She exited vehicle, went out to driveway, and the car was slowly rolling out of the garage. She had to jump in, apply the brakes. Then started vehicle and placed in Park. Shut vehicle off. I was able to replicate the same event. Lucky that our grandkids were not in or behind the car. As I understand the process, an electrical and/or programming failed to place car in auto park.

*Steering rack assembly and pinion *If this goes out I would not be able to steer the car causing harm to my life and others *yes at 2 Honda dealerships *I only take my car to Honda dealership *no warning lamps came on, the failure started last year in 2025 and finally diagnosed 7/9/25 at Royal Honda and again recently 9/2026 at Honda of Harvey. I notice a lot of Honda crv 2022 and on have recalls for steering rack assembly and pinion it should be 2021 also.

The steering wheel becomes very stiff and difficult to turn when I am making turns or changing lanes at speeds above 40 mph. I have to use significant force to move the steering wheel, creating a serious safety risk—particularly when driving on the freeway. This issue has occurred multiple times and is becoming progressively worse.

[XXX] <[XXX]> 12:38 AM (0 minutes ago) to me 2017 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD, approximately 111,000 miles. While driving, my vehicle suddenly displayed multiple warnings and repeated beeping, including Hill Start Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Collision Mitigation System problems. The vehicle appeared to slow down and the brakes seemed to grab or engage unexpectedly, creating a risk of losing control or causing a collision with surrounding traffic. Startup stuttering has also occurred. The failed component is UNKNOWN. Possible causes include a malfunction in the ABS/VSA brake-control system, electronic parking brake, sensors, wiring, or electrical controls. A fuel-delivery or engine issue may explain the startup stuttering. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has not been confirmed or reproduced by a dealer or repair facility to my knowledge. An auto-parts store tested the battery, starter, and alternator, which reportedly passed. Honda advised that my VIN is not covered by a fuel-pump recall. A manufacturer inspection specifically addressing the braking issue is UNKNOWN. No police or insurance inspection is known to have occurred. The warning messages appeared suddenly during the driving incident. The exact date was XXX going a speed of 60 and dropped down to 20 due to automatic braking, and road conditions were good, not wet or bumpy. The root cause according to Honda seems to be a fuel pump failure. I am reporting this incident because unexpected braking and multiple safety-system warnings may indicate a serious malfunction that could endanger me, my passengers, and other road users.
