The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic with a short circuit in the electrical system. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated again. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder #1. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and directed the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

ENGINE
Car stalled twice on highway going 55 miles to zero.pressing accelaerator wont make any difference. Thw malfunction infmdicator starts blinking when it happanes. Once the car comes to a complete stop and restart the engine then only we can continue to drive. Also malfunction infdcator goes away after restarting.We brought the car dealer and since there is no diagnostic code they wouldnt repair.

ENGINE
Gasoline leaked past fuel injectors and diluted the oil. Fuel injectors and spark plugs have had to be replaced with OEM parts. The problem has been confirmed by an official Honda dealership and by an independent service center. This issue has been repaired twice by a mechanic and has happened a third time. When the issue appeared, check engine light, parking brake, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, forward collision warning lights have turned on. Car disables adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and forward collision detection when issue occurs. The attached file shows the first incident and first inspection at 82,200 miles. The second incident occurred at 103,000. This second incident was the exact same issue.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
SUDDEN PHANTOM BRAKING WITHOUT WARNING IN MY 2018 HONDA CRV. I WAS DRIVING ~40-45 MPH ON LOCAL RESIDENTIAL STREET I FREQUENTLY TRAVEL ON; SUNNY, DRY DAY, 55 DEGREES, NO ADVERSE WEATHER. NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND ONE TRUCK TO MY RIGHT SIDE IN HIS LANE. NO OBSTACLES IN LANE. MY CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHT AT ALL BRAKED EXTREMELY HARD TO A FULL STOP. EVERYTHING IN MY CAR WENT FLYING FORWARD. HUSBAND AND SMALL DOG WERE IN BACK SEAT; HAD HUSBAND NOT BEEN HOLDING OUR SMALL DOG, OUR DOG WOULD'VE FLOWN FORWARD. I HAD NOT APPLIED ANY BRAKING AT ALL, WAS SIMPLY DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. THIS INCIDENT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HAD A CAR BEEN BEHIND ME, WE'D HAVE HAD SEVERE REAR-END COLLISION WITH POSSIBLE HARM OR LOSS OF OUR LIVES. I'M NOW READING ONLINE THAT THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS "GLITCH" THAT WAS INVESTIGATED AS "PHANTOM BRAKING" IN 2022 BY NHTSA, BUT NO RECALL EVER RESULTED -- HOWEVER, MAZDA AND TESLA EXPERIENCED SAME ISSUES IN 2022 AND RECALL WAS DONE WITH MAZDA VEHICLES. NOW I READ THAT AS OF MARCH 2024 A NEW NHTSA INVESTIGATION IS BEING DONE RE: HONDA PASSPORTS AND HONDA INSIGHTS. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING 70 MPH AND HAVE A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT THAT COULD KILL ME BECAUSE THIS HAS NOT BEEN DEALT WITH BY NHTSA FULLY! I CALLED MY HONDA DEALER WHEN I ARRIVED HOME AND HE GAVE ME HONDA NATIONAL CUSTOMER PHONE # AFTER BRUSHING OFF THE INCIDENT; SAID HE'S NOT HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. I TOLD HIM TO GOOGLE COMPLAINTS OF PHANTOM BRAKING IN 2018-2019 HONDA CRVS AND ACCORD SEDANS. I TAKE EXCELLENT CARE OF MY 2018 HONDA CRV; HAS ONLY 13,530 MILES TO DATE AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I WILL NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL I HAVE RESOLUTION TO THIS HIGHLY DANGEROUS SAFETY DEFECT IN THESE HONDA VEHICLES! I HAVE READ THERE HAVE BEEN CRASHES, FIRES, AND INJURIES FROM PHANTOM BRAKING IN HONDA VEHICLES. HOW MANY DEATHS OR LAWSUITS WILL IT TAKE TO HAVE THIS HONDA DEFECT RECALLED AND FIXED?! 1.7 MILLION CARS AFFECTED AS OF THE 2022 INVESTIGATION! 250000 WITH NEW 2024 INVESTIGATION!

STEERING
The steering rack has to be replaced.Dealer ordered part. Part won’t be available to install until September .I have 8000 miles. Problem with steering is sticky steering. When at highway speeds the steering feels to stick and then turn . I also have another 2023 Crv hybrid sport that at 7000 miles the steering rack had to be replaced . It now has 15000miles.no problem yet since replacement.

While driving the steering became very "tuggy". There was nothing smooth about maneuvering the vehicle. You could steer with little effort, then for no reason it would be real hard to turn, then turn quickly forcing a correction. It changed significantly from the way it was in the first two or three thousand miles. The dealer looked at it and said I could not drive it home. I received a loaner car from Honda, but they are now saying it may be September before I get it back. This is a real safety issue on my new car. It only has 8300 miles. I have nothing from the dealership, but it has been reported to Honda under case number 14550367.

The paint is suddenly peeling off the car in large pieces. This is occurring above the rear window. The paint is white and I've found numerous complaints of others experiencing the same issue with the Honda white paint. Honda states they will not cover this as it is no longer under warranty and there are no active recalls on this vehicle. When I asked if this was covered for the 2013 Honda CRV they would not answer but suggested I could 'submit a claim to the NHTSA to have my vehicle added'. This is the first Honda I've ever owned and have never seen this happen. Honda needs to be held responsible for this repair. No car that is garage kept should have the paint peeling off it. Please advise next steps.

A loud pop like a gunshot went off which was the sound of the Moonroof spontaneously shattering while driving.If this had been open then the shattered glass could have rained down on driver and passengers causing injury and/or wreck due to sharp pieces of glass.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. While driving on a two lane road with no other vehicles and no objects on the road, the "Brake" warning light came on. Thankfully, the Collision Avoidance system didn't come on this time but if the warning had activated the Collision Avoidance in traffic, a rear end crash could have happened.

Thief's are easily clone Honda vehicle fab device and stealing the cars. Lot of honda cars stolen in this week with same procedure by cloning the fab devices and taking the vehicles. When we complaint in the Police station , this issue is mainly with Honda Vehicles. Seems to be less security in the Honda vehicles. I am requesting from this Platform to Honda team , please do something to improve security features. we recently lost lot of 2024 CRV model cars and Honda accord cars. they are easily targeting the Honda cars (after 2020 model cars)

My vehicle was parked in my closed garage. My car's sunroof shattered when I came back to the car to drive it out for the evening. The incident happened in my closed garage. I took it to the dealership and the dealership said that they have no idea what happened. They didn't look too much into a diagnosis and just stated it could be environmental reasons even though it was in my closed garage. I contacted Honda and let them know about it and they refused to look more into it as well. They said since they don't know the reason, its environmental. I think this is a safety issue since it could be related to faulty glass or improper installation, maybe a defect. I also think it was improper for Honda to not investigate the issue on their side and figure out a proper diagnosis. I think this is very dangerous since I could have taken out the car and opened the sunroof headliner and glass could have been in my face and disrupted my driving.

Brakes have excessive squeel noise when applied. Taken to dealer(S) multiple occassions, Discovered that rear brakes/calipers had "excessive amounts of molykote under all pad shims. Pad shim coating was flaking off in large chunks. Abnormal discoloration in rotors found. " Noise continues, rotors damaged , Honda refuses warranty repair as " brakes are a normal wear item" . Issue was reported immeditely on vehicle delivery, has been taken to 2 different dealers,

Driving down the highway on April 6, 2024 I hear a loud explosion and the passenger rear window had exploded sending glass flying everywhere. The window is completely exploded. Today was the first warm day that I had to turn the air conditioning on in the car and 5-10 min after I turned the air-conditioning on, the window exploded.
