A known problem with these trucks is ground strap failure. I was driving and all the sudden lost power steering which almost caused an accident. There is a customer satisfaction program N252515590 that covers 2019-2024 trucks but mine was not included in this for some reason. I did have the truck fixed a my cost and was looking to get my money back from GM. I'm not sure if you can help with this but wanted to make a report that is happening with more trucks then they are fixing. If you need any other info from me please let me know

- #11738685May 19, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
2021 GMC Sierra AT4, VIN [XXX] , NHTSA Campaign 25V-274, GM Case XXX. Brake pad monitor failed at 128,923 miles -- 24 miles after leaving Penske Chevrolet (released at 128,899, RO XXX, 04/17/2026). Brakes became spongy immediately following service. Monitor disabled entirely to stop recurring red Service System alert. Root cause is a burnt fuse block ground fault confirmed in writing by two GM-authorized dealers. Ray Skillman (RO XXX, 06/05/2025) documented the fault then deleted Labor Operation 14BUZ ENGINE ELECTRICAL from the recall repair work order. Penske documented verbatim: "all of these other faults share this same ground circuit." The recall repair at Ray Skillman used a remanufactured short block instead of a complete engine per N252494002. The original seized-engine oil pan has never been replaced across three dealerships and 128,000 miles. GM's own Part 573 filing states this defect "increases the risk of a crash." I drove 300 miles on an interstate on 04/22/2026 with active brake warning and no loaner because GM Executive Resolution refused to authorize one. Three GM dealers have inspected this vehicle. GM Executive Resolution Team [XXX] ) has not returned calls or emails and has not confirmed in writing this vehicle is safe to operate. OnStar issued a Critical Alert for P0617 on 04/15/2026. Zero brake faults existed in the 13 months prior to the Penske visit. This is a direct continuation of unresolved electrical damage from a botched federal safety recall repair at 384 days and counting. Multiple times now my vehicle has had its engine locked up while driving at highway and regular uphill driving. Along with towing aswell. I have had it repaired multiple times and last time dealer wouldn’t tell me what happened because GM wouldn’t let them figure out what happened. Along with multiple attempts at fixing the transmission and brakes that are still on going issue. Same with the engine.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH the rear wheels suddenly seized causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the road. The vehicle was restarted and slowly driven home. The contact indicated that later after restarting the vehicle it was discovered that the vehicle would not drive forward or in reverse. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V083000(POWER TRAIN ). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 67,000.

I was driving my 2019 GMC and all of a sudden I pulled into a subdivision the vehicle shut off and would not start again. I wasn't given an y warning or heard any sounds it shut off and would not start up again. I checked the battery and it was fine. I had it towed to a mechanic shop. They replaced the starter, and the battery module. after that they ran codes and the codes were P00C6 and P0340. I had it towed the the local chevrolet dealership and they told me I needed to have the engine replaced, however they don't have any engines available or know when they would be able to get one.

Sitting at a red light and when the light turned green, the engine made a noise and lost power while trying to cross the intersection. The check engine light came on along with some other lights. It was then towed to a mechanic and the engine had to be replaced due to failure of the lifters. The mechanic said it is a common issue with the GM 5.3 engine but unfortunately their has not been a recall.

The front upper grille deflector detached and hit my windshield and bounced off behind me during a drive at normal highway speeds. This created a random flying debris object that appears to have been a problem with the 2022 and later Sierra 1500 models; however, the recall only appears to address the 2022 model. It also appears quite common for the 2024 year model as well. Vehicle has never been in an accident so nothing beyond typical use would have caused damaged to the connections. The plastic connectors appeared to have failed.

While out of Town driving back home Wheel lock up on my 3500hd dually 2023 gmc .. vehicle had shudder effect and from 75 to 25 mph drasticly and engine reduced power light came on and wouldn’t come out of drive and then after stopping vehicle To cement parking safety block the vehicle had multiple codes for valve body and transmission failure relating to the na242454441 issue on previous year models and gmc is not working properly on a resolution but admitting that it is having the exact issue of previous models and with this issue I was promised for full replacement at no cost I am currently working with executive team to help fix the issue that the dealership in Levelland Texas is not honest about what codes are within parameters when infact have A dtc code reader and was able to get a photo and have history of code showing etc

I recently purchased my vehicle from Big Star Dealership in Baytown Tx. At a little over 1000 miles i was towing a camper. The vehicle stalled, fuel pouring from engine. It was towed and repaired due to fuel pump failure. At a little over 3000 miles the vehicle would not start. Dealership initially said water contamination then changed it and said gasoline contamination and now they say DEF contamination. The vehicle stalling the first time almost caused me to wreck the vehicle

The front grille deflector on my GMC Sierra flew off my truck on a windy day, hit my windshield hard but luckily did not crack it. A vehicle behind me did swerve out of the way to avoid the flying grille deflector but no accident luckily occurred. The piece is damaged but I was able to recover it. I had called the dealership I bought this vehicle at ( around June of 2025) they had confirmed this recall was “fixed” a few months prior to my purchase of the vehicle. Question from me would be, would my local certified GM dealership be able to provide this recall fix? I do not necessarily like the idea of taking back a potential highway safety hazard 2 hours away from my home on the interstate 70 mph back home once this is fixed / repaired with glue/ epoxy that may need 24-48 hours of drying time to cure. Also how can I trust the dealership who “fixed” this issue for it not to happen again?

My GMC sierra AT4 with the 3.0L Duramax Diesel, has 1,500 miles on it, when the engine failed. I was traveling from [XXX] to [XXX] , towing a trailer, when the check engine light came, and the truck entered reduced power mode. It immediately slowed the truck without warning - which made for a very dangerous situation for all of the vehicles behind me and for my vehicle. After getting the vehicle and trailer to a dealer, disconnecting the trailer, and then getting the truck in the shop, the dealer defined the OBDII code as being P06DD - Engine oil pressure control solenoid valve stuck off. U0146 - Lost communication with central gateway module, and U1605 - Lost communication with side obstacle detection control module - right on private CAN Bus. The dealer indicated that the P06DD code meant that the thrust bearing on the crankshaft failed and the engine would need to be replaced. The ending only has 1500 miles on it. It turns out that there are MANY GM 3.0L diesel engines that have failed for this issue and that GM issued a Technical Service bulletin in 2025 for this issue - TSB 25-NA-307. I work in the medical device industry and when there is a safety issue with your products - you initiate a RECALL. To date there has been no recall simply the TSB. What is the NHTSA going to do about ensuring that GM, and other manufacturers, are making engines safe? These engines can literally explode - sending metal shards through the engine into the passenger compartment. The transmission has always been rough. It has now gone out at 75,000 miles. This transmission issue really seemed to get worse about 50,000 miles. But when I called the dealer, they said they were backed up and couldn't get to it for 9-12 weeks (Covid excuses at that point). Then, it really had an issue going down a large grade into [XXX] . But the issues seemed fairly intermittent. I had an independent shop who said it was hard to tell if it was intermittent. They didn't find metal shavings at the time. ADDITIONALLY, it has also always been a little rough driving. A mechanic looking at it today told me there are no sway bar links at all. This truck has not been modified. This had to have come off the line faulty. Among all the other things. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

catastrophic internal engine failure on my 6.2L engine. Several times vehicle was to Gm Gunn Buick GMC regarding power loss knocking noises. Received the run around that vehicle past all their initial inspection and test. They only replaced a VALVE LIFTER REPLACEMENTS BANK 2 without further assessment of the engine or components. I took my vehicle to another shop to conduct a thorough inspection and they found broken metal from the piston/skirt and likely connecting rod damage inside the crankcase. Broken piston skirt/piston material • Cylinder wall damage/scoring • Metal debris throughout lower end • Possible bent/broken connecting rod • Potential crankshaft/journal damage from debris circulation • Oil pickup area contaminated with metal Lifter failure leading to dropped valve/ piston contact • Rod bearing failure • Oil starvation • Spun bearing • Piston failure/detonation Advised GM Gunn Buick and GMC of the secondary engine inspection by another shop. Manager told me it was my issue now and they wouldn’t replace my engine it wasn’t there problem. I had to pay out of pocket for a new engine replacement due to the negligence of GM and their agency lack of maintenance and customer care and service
