In late February/early March, my GMC Sierra with around 9000 miles had the following to occur on a cold start: check engine light came on as well as the service esc light & traction control light, truck shuddered and shimmied. Took for service on March 4, 2024 with 9774 miles on odometer, where service tech said they couldn't duplicate concern (see attachments: March Service Invoice Pg 1 & 2). Took truck home & same issues kept occurring especially on cold mornings & days. Took the truck back for service on April 1, 2024 with 10895 miles on odometer. Told them to keep it till its fixed & to start it on cold mornings because thats when problem occurs. They had truck till April 12, 2024 and were able to duplicate the concern. Dealer changed the fuel injector (that was not the problem). Service tech finally found the cylinder 8 has a misfire until vehicle gets to operating temperature. They replaced all 8 lifters in bank 2 (right side) & gave me an oil change. This seems to have fixed the problem, but I won't really know until winter 2025. My problem with this lifter issue is that this engine will probably only last for 3 maybe 4 years tops because of all the metal shavings that are roaming around in the engine. This has been a problem with GM engines for some time & GM has yet to fix it or at least take responsibility for their poor engineering. I paid over $70,000 (of which GM made around $17,000) for this truck only to have the engine probably make it for a few years. My last truck I kept for 10 years. I don't see this happening with this truck.

While towing a trailer in tow/haul mode on the highway traveling around 60mph, their was a strong downshift clunking sound. About 10 miles later, it happened again, except this time the brakes logged up and truck skid for about a full second and then trailer began fishtailing slightly. Check engine like P2C7A came on. Seems like brakes or transmission momentarily locked up.

Transmission had a hard shift which jolted the truck switching gears to a lower one unexpectedly. It caused my body to jerk back. It happened 3 times. 2 were mild but the 3rd time was extreme. Always while accelerating. Average speed was about 50 mph when this occurred. Dealer has confirmed a failure of the transmission valve body. If the transmission were to be put in park while traveling, it could cause major accident and injuries. After the 3rd time the engine warning light came on and the truck went into limp mode.

I have a 2014 Silverado high-country. The truck has approximately 110k miles. I was told by chevy the frame is rusted through and unsafe to work on. They know these trucks had problems with the rust coating and only put out a bulletin to have them recoated. The problem is rust is rust. Once the metal was exposed there is no going back. My truck would other wise last another 50-70k miles.

Well, we ended up having a problem with our transmission in our 2020 truck. I am the wife and I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden the truck started bucking and went down to 35 mph. I was in a middle lane on the highway when this happened which Was very scary! Then I was stranded along side the highway until I could get help. Here we found that our transmission went out already only after four years, which is crazy. Very crazy! We bought this truck because we were told with the weight of this truck and all that it would pull out 42 foot fifth wheel we have. So of course we did use this truck to pull our trailer and now four years later we have been without a truck because we cannot even find a transmission with our transmission code of OMEF. Now today we found a possibility which is going to cost $7000 which is Love Ludacris! We buy a $65,000 truck just for years ago and now had to put $7000 out for a transmission. Is there anything we can do to rectify this situation??

AC will not run while truck is in idle. I was told by the dealer all GM trucks with the 6.6 gasoline engine this is a standard on them. this is a major safety issue when it becomes 100 F outside.

To Whom It May Concern, This is a brand new 2024 GMC Sierra AT4 Diesel Truck with 4,000 miles. The first incident occurred when I was doing about 5 mph. The truck maintained its speed without my foot on the gas pedal and the cruise control was not on. Then when I tapped the gas pedal, everything return to normal. The second incident was about 2 weeks later in which the same thing happened. The third incident which was about one week later, I was doing about 5 mph and the truck accelerated on its own. I let the truck accelerate to approximately 28 mph. At that point I hit the brakes to stop the vechicle and pulled over. The truck was idling very high so I turned off the engine. All the ignition lighting remained on, but the truck would not restart. Even after removing the keys from the vehicle the ignition lighting remained on. At that point the truck had be towed back to the dealership which is Rainbow Buick, GMC in Covington, Louisiana. I've been told by the Rainbow Service Department that they do not know what's wrong with the truck. It's been sitting there for 10 days now was a dead battery. My salesman who I don't really believe, said he has the exact same truck and it happen to his tuck at 30,000 miles. I file a claim with GMC Customer Support but have yet to hear from them. I'm obviously very disappointed with my new truck, my salesperson, and service department. If there's anything you can do to help please let me know! On July 5, 2024 while traveling and towing our 5th wheel (7,200lbs) with our 2017 GMC 2500 6.0L GAS engine (with the 6L90 transmission) and without any previous warnings or signals the check engine light illuminated and approximately 10 mins later the vehicle went into limp mode with "Transmission Hot.....Idle Engine" warning, causing us to lose power of the vehicle. We coasted over to the side of a 2 lane road with no shoulder and stopped the vehicle to let it cool down. This happened several times leaving us stranded in places that were NOT safe to allow the transmission to cool because we had no other choice since we were on country roads with no pullouts. At this point, we were just trying to get to the closest safest place to disconnect the trailer, so we could have the vehicle looked at by the GMC dealer. The closest place was an RV park approxiamately 20 miles away, so we limped there and disconnected from the trailer. Our safety and the safety of other drivers was a huge issue since there was nowhere we could pull over where we would be out of danger. We had no warning that our transmission was bad up until this point. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed on July 8, 2024, that the vehicles transmission failed and needs to be replaced. We serviced our vehicle religiously and had the transmission flushed/changed at 49,944 miles. The failure of the this transmission occurred at approximately 54,000 miles. We were stuck and without our vehicle for 7 days while we waited for The GMC dealer to replace our transmission. There are plenty of problems with the GMC/Chevrolet 6L90 transmissions and unfortunately, we fell victim to this problem. GMC should be held accountable for issuing a recall as we could have easily caused an accident and serious damage to ourselves as well as others. This transmission is failing causing it to be is unsafe.

On June 8th I started my truck and it made a strange unfamiliar noise before starting. I thought it was bizarre. Shortly after I stopped in traffic and my truck stalled out. It stayed on but when I went to give it gas I didn’t move. So I restarted the engine and the same strange noise was made. Along with the noise I smelled something funny so I pulled into a gas station. Little did I know my truck was on fire. I got the vehicle away from the gas pumps and within 5 minutes the whole truck was on fire. Before this fire I had brought the vehicle in for service due to a check engine light multiple times the codes will be listed below. I also had an interlock device installed in the truck at the time.
