- #11634650January 7, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
On December 26th 2024, I was travelling 5 mph or less while pulling into a parking space at a restaurant. As I let the steering wheel return to center, my hand hit the Resume button on the left side of the steering wheel and the vehicle immediately began to accelerate. I was able to step on the brake to prevent the vehicle from hitting the wall of the restaurant. The next day on December 27th, 2024, i was able to duplicate the problem. I had set the cruise at 55 mph before I came to a stop at a traffic light. I released the brake and pressed the Resume button and the vehicle immediately accelerated from a dead stop. I've been an automotive mechanic for over 30 years and I've never seen this happen before. It's my understanding that vehicles wouldn't engage cruise control unless the speed was over 35 mph.

- #11634151January 5, 2025BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Just purchased a new 2025 GMC Sierra. The backup camera system is useless at night if not in a well lit parking lot. This make the system unsafe as you cannot detect people or objects in the field of view. I've had many GMC vehicles over the years and this is the first one with this concern.

Shaking when accelerating. Sometimes so extreme it feels like you have been hit by another car. Random, inconsistent, and comes out of nowhere

- #11633823January 3, 2025FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road, where a mobile independent mechanic diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed. The mechanic determined that the entire fuel system assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to an unknown dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was currently being towed to the residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the repair could not be covered because the VIN was not included in a related recall and the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 206,000.

- #11633825January 3, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Headlights and turn signals failed. Flickering of various lights (Daytime running lamp, low beam, high beam, turn signals) followed by total failure. 3700 dollar repair at dealer to replace both headlamp assemblies. Barely over miles of warranty, but still in the 3 year warranty time period. Not having forward lighting is of course a major safety issue. Vehicle should be recalled. Many others are having the issue.

- #11633839January 3, 2025POWER TRAIN, ENGINE
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while her husband was driving 40-45 MPH, the vehicle experienced reduced engine power and failed to exceed 30 MPH. The contact stated that upon shifting to reverse(R), the RPM decreased, and the vehicle failed to respond. The driver was able to drive to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed, and there were metal shavings inside the transmission. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for the VIN to be added to a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Failed transmission; needs valve body replacement but part is on national back order. Vehicle has been at dealership since 11/12/24. Almost 2 months and no eta when part will be in. Dealership did offer loaner after first 3 weeks. Vehicle is available for inspection, no safety issues as the problem occurred in driveway at home. If the problem had happened on the highway though, there would definitely have been some safety concerns. No prior warnings or symptoms. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and was approved as warranty work. A recall should be issued.

On December 13th 2024, I was unable to drive my truck in reverse. I put the truck in neutral and pushed it out of its parking spot. I was able to drive the truck to the GMC dealership for diagnosis. On December 19th, I received a call from the dealership and I was told the transmission valve body was bad. I called on January 2nd 2025 for an update on the repair and was told the valve body was on backorder and they had no ETA on the Part.

- #11633601January 2, 2025UNKNOWN OR OTHER
UNKNOWN - While driving down the highway, the front hood molding flew off the front of my truck after a semi passed by me going the opposite direction. No physical contact was made to any part of my vehicle had occurred. The molding piece flew directly behind me on the highway and almost hit another car. I pulled over and inspected the front and noticed that the plastic clips that hold the molding piece in place had snapped off. After researching online, I have found numerous instances of people reporting the same thing happening to them.

- #11633611January 2, 2025SEAT BELTS
I was driving in a parking structure at low speed when a loud bang went off inside the cab. The hazard lights went off, there was an acrid electrical smell, and fine dust was coming from the steering wheel area. I stopped the truck and got out to look for a collision, but there was none. When I restarted the truck, the air bag light came on and I noticed that the seatbelts were retracted and no longer functional. I was not injured, but I believe that if this had happened in traffic or on the highway, I and my passenger could have been seriously hurt. The vehicle was towed to the GMC dealership, where they identified an error with the module that sends a signal to the airbags and seatbelts to deploy. Prior to this occurrence, I had no indication that the airbag/seatbelt system was faulty or in need of service.

- #11633622January 2, 2025ENGINE
I was driving and my vehicle started to give me warnings to pull over due to low oil. When I safely pulled over and check. the engine oil cooling line was detached from crimp joint and leaked all the oil. Called the tow truck and took the truck to the dealer (Charles hardy chevrolet in Dallas GA) And they telling me that the engine is locked and it need to be replaced. There is a recall for the part but they telling me that my vin number is not part of it. Even though is exactly what the recall said it would happen

this vehicle is garage kept and meticulous maintained, has 136,000 miles, original owner, brought to dealer for an oil leak, they said exhaust are frozen and won't come out after heating etc. they have to replace exhaust manifolds! Bolts should not seize is the head of a garage kept vehicle that's heated! Being a mechanic many years ago I have never seen this happen! this is the first year for the new engine, On a internet search I found it's not uncommon, and the bill is going to cost me over $8000 !. The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. While the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. Additionally, the RPM increased, and the drive signal flashed on and off. The vehicle was driven to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with transmission control module (TCM) failure. The contact was informed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact requested a second opinion from another independent mechanic, and it was confirmed as a transmission control module (TCM) failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.
