Tailgate comes open without wanting too. Few times I've come to find the truck with the tailgate open, has occurred twice while driving. There is a recall for the same issue with the 2500 and 3500 series GMC Sierra. My truck is a 1500 series GMC. Surely same issue and faulty tailgate lock as the 2500 and 3500 trucks.

The control valve system on my 2021 gmc has malfunctioned and this is the second time, currently sitting at Nelson GM Dealer in Fergus Falls MN. I have to drive back to TN as thats where I live and the mechanic said this issue will happen again. This vehicle hasn't had recalls but I believe it was missed since this is the second time with this same issue. This is a GM wide issue as I have researched.

Since brand new, the engine makes a significantly loud chirping sound at two occasions. First is every time the fuel saving auto start kicks in to start acceleration. The other is any time you come to a stop from above 25-35 MPH. At around 16 MPH, there is a loud chirping as you decelerate. This appears to be a timing malfunction and is affecting fuel economy. The vehicle has 8,800 miles on it, and it is getting worse. It has been looked at 4 times and has not been identified. I know there was a GM bulletin from 2022 about this 6.2L V8 Engine, but they state it is "normal". I have never heard a normal sound of this kind from an engine. And certainly not on a $75K vehicle. Please investigate and make them correct the issue or replace the engines. people work too hard to afford nice vehicles, and should not have to deal with this issue.

6.2L Engine burning excessive oil, so dealer per GM started an Oil Consumption test at 34,457 miles went through the process until 45,145 miles and dealer took it in at 45,468 to tear down engine, I contacted GM Aftersales and Customer Service VP and he had a representative start working the case, Engine was found to have scored cylinders on the driver's bank decision was made to replace engine. Engine was replaced and picked up vehicle and was told to bring it back in 5k miles for an oil change. I brought it back in 1k miles and retained the filter and used a filter cutter and inspected the filter. Filter had a significant amount of Metal and Metillac pieces imbedded in the filter (I have the filter still) I reported this to the Dealer and GM Aftersales and Customer Service, They noted this a normal! I then had the filter only changed at 500 more miles and still contained some debris, this is the second truck that I have owned the first was a 21 same issue first replacement failed in 25 miles, 2nd motor failed at start up and then I traded into this 22' and took a major financial hit on trade in, then a 3rd motor in the 21' and it made it so the truck could be wholesaled or sold, by this time I had bought this truck that has just had the motor replaced and currently have 7k on the new motor which was replaced under warranty. I feel confident that the metal debris that was in this engine is a contributing factor if not the factor that is causing the engine failures and suspect this engine will have the same demise. I welcome you to take possession of the filter and inspect it yourself. I have a video of the filter that I would be glad to share. These engine failures have cost me $25,000 in trade in loss.

at 8500 miles the engine had lifter go out while I was driving down the highway cause to truck to vibrate and becoming on unsteady causing me to pull over in the middle of traffic. later at 36500 miles it had another lifter go out this time I was driving home at a slower speed but still cause me to have to pull over vert fast as the vehicle became unsteady and vibrated causing all the alarm to come on. Both times the truck was fixed under warranty nut they replaced it with the same parts that are causing the problems. Soon my truck will be off warranty and this will come out of my pocket.

I purchased a 2025 GMC Siera Denali Ultimate in December 2024. Approximately 2 weeks after purchasing the vehicle, I was driving down the road I received a message that said, "Service Suspension". I was able to call OnStar for diagnostic and the truck was throwing code C2A0A. I took the truck into the dealership to see what the issue was. The dealership said that I apparently ran something over and it must have flown up and broke a plastic sensor cover on the lower rear left shock. I never hit anything but have no way to prove. So, I had to pay $526 for a new shock. Even if I did run over something if that area of the shock is that sensitive it should be better protected especially if it's not covered under warranty.

My truck was put on an engine oil consumption plan at ~14,000 milee. Then a month later the engine complete seized while i was driving at 60 mph in the middle of southeast Missouri. The dashboard started flashing with a warning saying that I needed to press the start button. The vehicle came to a stop and i was unable to get it to turn over. I currently have a warranty claim with GM amd the vehicleis at Laura GMC in Collinsvill, IL awaiting a replacement engine. I have no confidence in GMs ability to fully resolve the issue. My life has been completely disrupted as a result of their lack of quality controls.

I purchased this vehicle new in 2021. It is an Ultimate Denali trim level with a 6.2 engine. Within the first year, the driver's side head on the engine had a massive failure with only 7,000 miles. I started up the vehicle and was parked idling briefly when several light came on along with a rough idle and some exhaust smoke. I contacted On Star, who could not diagnose the problem. The vehicle was disabled and ended up being towed to the dealer, where it was being repaired for 10 days. The lifters, valves and push rods were replace. The mechanic admitted there was an internal GM problem with the 6.2 engine. I asked for the same repair be made on the passenger side head. The GM dealer refused, knowing of the faulty factory installed parts. The polished tailpipe tips were not replace and were stained by the black exhaust. They are still stained this day. I purchased this vehicle for my retirement to tow my RV. Now, I have been reluctant to travel because of the other head letting go on me somewhere out west, operating under a work load. I know of two other people who purchased new GM vehicles with the 6.2 engine, who experienced the same failure, with around the same mileage on their vehicles.

Engine failed due to a loss of oil pressure. Rod bearing failed which cause metal to be dispersed throughout the engine causing the engine to seize from a sudden loss of oil pressure from oil pump failure. Engine was replaced in June 2024 failure happened in May 2024. While driving a system message came on DIC that stated pull over immediately to prevent engine damage and no oil pressure. I was driving uphill with cars on my right in the #2 lane. Engine shut off before I could pull over resulting in decreased braking power and a lack of steering. I almost hit 2 vehicles trying to pull over to get my family to safety on the right hand shoulder. I couldn’t pull over to the left hand shoulder as there was a guardrail in the way. When I got my vehicle pulled over the only thing that stopped my vehicle from going over the cliff was a bunch of wood chips on the right hand shoulder. From the time the warning lights came on to the time the engine shut off and seized was maybe 5 seconds. It took 31 days to replace the engine and the dealership did an inspection on the engine. There was absolutely no warning there was any problems until the lights came on. My wife and [XXX] and [XXX] were in the vehicle at the time this happened. It was so dangerous where we broke down California Highway Patrol stayed behind my vehicle with its lights on. It was also a fire hazard with the exhaust sitting on the dry bark. My engine locked up on me 3 times without notice or warning at all while driving 75-80mph down the highway. All the times myself and my family were put in danger of being hit by traffic and the locations were the vehicle stopped was around a curve where other drivers wouldn’t notice until it was too late. Freezing cold and could stay in the vehicle scared we might get hit while inside. Second time it stopped at around 10:30om in the middle of nowhere in [XXX]. Even the cops couldn’t get us tow. Finally 6 hours later a friend had to come get us. I reached out to the GM CEO per email and no reply. I tried to get them to take the vehicle back and after supposedly fixing the engine after having it for 3 months I got it back with no loaner to use during this time. The engine failed again a month later. Again after supposedly fixing the engine it failed a third time. If failed the first time in January 2024 and the second time in May 2024 and then the third time in July 2024. I have anxiety and now taking medication from even driving this vehicle afraid it will stop again. Replacing the engine isn’t acceptable to me. Please help. The first place to to rebuild the engine Crossville, TN (Dave Kirk Chevrolet GMC), then it to Parks Buick GMC-Greenville: 2640 Laurens Rd, Greenville, SC 29607. and then to Loves Buick GMC, 736 Saturn Pkwy, Columbia, SC 29212. I have all the email sent to GM leaders and their executive leadership team. My vehicle had only 22,000 miles on it and I guess doesn’t fall under the lemon law in SC so they didn’t want to take it back. I feel helpless in this situation. Even getting a lawyer isn’t guaranteed a win and then I’ll be out of more money. Being a [XXX] this really sucks to be treated like my life and family life doesn’t matter. I bought the vehicle brand new from Jim Buick, GMC, Cadillac in Columbia, SC. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The tailgate will drop completely down by itself while driving at highway speeds. It has happened numerous times while driving on the interstate highway when I had large items in the back of the truck. Items such as propane cylinder, large cooler with ice and drinks, luggage, furniture, etc. The first time was a few days after buying the truck in Sep 2022. I reported it to the dealer, the ordered a replacement electrical component and replaced it. That did not correct the problem. I took it to another dealer in early 2024 and they worked on it but said it was going to be a recall by GMC but they did not know when. It's been almost a year and the tailgate still falls down by itself completely at random. It just happened again today while driving in heavy traffic on city streets. Fortunately, I didn't have anything in the back of the truck. It happened once during the night while the truck was in my garage and hit the garage door. I no longer put anything in the back of the truck, but I am concerned that it happens to others or will happen and someone on the highway will be seriously injured when a large heavy item falls out on the interstate highway. It can cause a major accident and GMC is obviously not as concerned as they should be. It's not the dealer's fault and is solely GMC's responsibility to correct this condition before someone is injured or killed.

On [XXX], I was driving my truck on [XXX] through Phoenix, AZ. It was 5 days after I had purchased the vehicle and only had 250 miles on the odometer. I was in the left lane was traveling at approximately 75mph. Within the span of about 20 seconds, several lights on the dash annunciated and several messages including a message about a brake failure and steering assist failure and then the engine suddenly turned off. The steering seemed heavy and the brakes seemed less responsive. I was able to coast to a stop on the side of the road thanks to the help of a couple truckers who blocked traffic across multiple lanes. The truck was towed to the dealer and they told me the entire engine needed to be replaced. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Transmission had to be replaced from the dealership. Hard shifting dealership said truck was 23 days out of warranty. I couldn’t get into the dealership that truck was purchased from for 3 weeks. Had to go to the Jeff Gordon dealership, which is Chevrolet. And I had to replace the transmission.

I was driving home from work on the highway, when the top part of the front grill broke off and flew up hitting the windshield. It caused me to abruptly swerve into the other lane of the highway. Luckily there was nobody in the other lane. The part could of also hit another car that was behind me. Going on line, I see this is quite common issue for 2022 GMC trucks and it occurs on the same conditions, driving down the highway. I suggest a recall to get this fixed.
