Some 2016 Escape and Focus vehicles equipped with a front control display interface module (FCDIM) may exhibit the inability to store AM/FM presets and/or preset buttons work erratically. Engineering is currently investigating this concern. Until a new service procedure and/or parts are available use the pre-set buttons in the following manner. To store/program a new station for a pre-set location, press and hold desired button for 3 seconds. To select a previously programmed pre-set location, perform a quick press and release of the button. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 415-00 for normal diagnostics. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

Some 2016-2017 Focus RS vehicles built on or before 02-Aug-2017 may exhibit an Unable to Change Drive Mode message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and/or an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTC P26FE stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS) release 106.04 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com.

Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles with SYNC 3 may intermittently display an overhead image of a vehicle in the center of the SYNC touchscreen with no obstacle detection grids or warning chimes. SYNC may appear unresponsive when the overhead vehicle image is displayed. The vehicle image may intermittently display after shifting out of reverse or turning the vehicle off when in reverse. To recover the screen, perform any one of the following actions: touch the SYNC screen anywhere outside the vehicle image pop-up box, safely shift the vehicle into and out of reverse, or perform a complete ignition cycle (key off, open and close the driver's door then wait 5 minutes). If this does not resolve the concern, do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

Summary
Some 2016-2018 Ford or Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may exhibit a blank screen or other various SYNC symptoms only when the vehicle is in transport mode. This is due to the power saving features enabled while in transport mode and is beneficial for battery life to keep the vehicle in transport mode until the vehicle is prepped for sale. To prevent a SYNC system lockup during transport mode deactivation, follow the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure allowing time for the SYNC system to complete all tasks such as fully booting up or powering down and shutting off before moving to the next step of the procedure. If the vehicle exhibits a blank screen or SYNC symptoms after transport mode deactivation, refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for normal diagnosis. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.

Some owners of 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 may experience inoperative mobile device navigation applications. Mobile device navigation via AppLink requires SYNC 3 version 2.3 or higher for Apple iOS users. Mobile device navigation via AppLink is not currently available for Android users. SYNC 3 software upgrades to support these apps are not currently available, do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates. SYNC 3 software upgrade to support these apps is not a warrantable repair per the Warranty And Policy Manual, Section 3, Warranty Coverages SYNC.

Summary
Some 2016-2017 Focus RS vehicles may exhibit paint discoloration once the protective wrap guard is removed. It is recommended the wrap stay in place until vehicle is delivered, but no longer than 6 months past the vehicle build date. Longer time on the vehicle will increase the adhesive residue left on the paint surface. To assist with the wrap removal, vehicle surface temperature no less than -10Å?C (14Å?F) and no more than 50Å?C (122Å?F), with no ice/snow. Begin the removal from an edge and pull the film back upon itself to the middle of the panel, then repeat from the opposite side until the film is completely removed. The steep pull off angle and the speed of wrap removal affects the amount of adhesive residue remaining. Potential paint blemishes will typically disappear within 72 hours of removal of the wrap under normal circumstances.

If update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update APIM software. After Installation Complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation. If no updates are available or a blue or black screen is present after an update refer to WSM, Section 415-00 for diagnosis or SYNC 3 intermittent blank screen GSB for tips. For claiming, use causal part 14G371 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.

2017 vehicles equipped with a 2.0L GTDI, 2.3L GTDI, or 2.5L PFI engine will either be equipped with a diamond washer on each side of a smooth-faced crankshaft timing sprocket (early build), or a crankshaft timing sprocket with laser etched faces and no diamond washers (late build). If equipped, diamond washers should be cleaned, inspected and reused, if undamaged. Diamond washers should never be installed along with a laser etched crankshaft timing sprocket. Some 2017 Model Year Focus vehicles equipped with 1.0L gasoline turbocharged direct injection(GTDI) engines may exhibit illuminated malfunction indicator light(MIL) with DTC P04DB (crankcase ventilation system disconnected) stored in powertrain control module(PCM) memory. Inspect positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube assembly for O-Ring damage or partial disconnect. PCV tube connects to air induction system(AIS) and camshaft cover port. PCV tube assembly also includes crankcase pressure sensor(Reference 303-14 electronic engine controls). Engineering is currently investigating. To assist with the investigation, refer to the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website and use the report a vehicle concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report.

Some 2012-13 Focus and 2013 Escape/C-MAX vehicles may have the wrong part in the box for the BCM (base 14A068). The suspect service part number is GV6Z-14A068-G. The wrong part will have an engineering number of GV6T-14A073-GD and it will not work. The correct part will have engineering part number of GV6T-14A073-with a suffix of XA, XB, XC, or XF. Dealers should utilize the normal return process of a miss packaged part. Continue to monitor OASIS. When this concern is resolved, an update will be provided.

Some 2014-2017 Focus/C-MAX vehicles when a replacement BCM is received for a service repair may include a white Keyless Entry Card. In an effort to consolidate the complexity of BCM's only the highest level will be available for service. If the vehicle has the Keyless Entry buttons on the left door B-pillar the card needs to stay with the vehicle and shared with the customer as the keyless entry codes have changed. If the vehicle was not built with the b-pillar touch pad, discard the card, as it has no function, and cannot be added to the vehicle. If the vehicle has the stick-on wireless key pad, that keypad has it's own card, and again discard the one that came with the service BCM.

Some 2016-2017 Focus RS customers may ask to have the upshift lamp operation programmed to function on their vehicle. North American vehicles do not support this feature and it cannot be added. The performance shift indicator (the RS icon in the tachometer) still functions the same as described in the RS Owner's Supplement

Some 2015-2017 Focus ST vehicles may exhibit MIL On with a perceived Misfire after cold start. Diagnostic Trouble Codes DTC's) may include P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303,P0304, and P0316. Refer to General Service Bulletin GSB) G0000106 to confirm Historical DTCs no longer confirmed or pending, but have set at least once since the last time DTCs were cleared. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 and Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics. To assist with the investigation use the Report A Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and submit a Global Concern Report (GCR). Engineering is currently investigating this concern. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

Some 2013-2017 Fusion Hybrid Energi built on or before 24-Mar-2017, 2012-2016 Focus Electric and 2013-2016 C-MAX Energi and equipped with a TCU may exhibit inoperative remote features via MyFord Mobile app, discharged battery, incomplete user authorization and/or accessory protocol interface module (APIM) DTC U0198 with no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed. To correct, perform any open TCU field service actions (FSAs). If U0198 DTC remains, remove the TCU fuse for 5 minutes then reinstall prior to programming. Reprogram the TCU using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) release 104.05 or higher. An internet connection is required. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the SLTS manual.
