Third transmission failure in 10 months on this vehicle (8-speed automatic). (1) Oct 2025, 67,885 miles: transmission shuddering; dealer replaced the complete transmission with a GM remanufactured unit under extended warranty (RO 240481, Nucar Lannan Chevrolet of Woburn, MA). (2) Jul 2026, 82,439 miles: vehicle would not shift on the highway while driving; DTC P2824 stored; dealer replaced the transmission valve body under warranty (RO 248929). (3) Aug 3, 2026, approx. 82,500 miles — three days after the valve body repair was returned to me — the transmission locked up and the vehicle would not shift gears while in traffic. Loss of gear engagement while driving creates risk of a crash from sudden loss of propulsion. Vehicle is back at the dealership now for the third repair. This vehicle's 8-speed transmission (8L90/8L45 family) is the subject of known shudder/valve-body defect litigation covering 2015–2019 Silverado models.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission and drivetrain system appear to be defective. The vehicle repeatedly experiences hard shifting, transmission shudder, hesitation during acceleration, delayed engagement when shifting into gear, and erratic gear changes. These problems occur during normal driving and have progressively worsened over time. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The transmission hesitation and delayed acceleration create a serious safety hazard. When pulling into traffic, crossing intersections, or changing lanes, the vehicle does not respond immediately when the accelerator is pressed. The delay leaves the vehicle exposed to oncoming traffic and increases the risk of a collision. The hard shifting and shuddering also cause the vehicle to behave unpredictably, reducing driver confidence and making it unsafe to operate in normal traffic conditions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem is consistently reproducible during everyday driving. The transmission shudders, hesitates, and shifts harshly on a regular basis. Although the condition is intermittent in severity, it occurs frequently enough to create ongoing safety concerns. At this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. The vehicle remains available for inspection. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The first symptoms were occasional hard shifts and slight hesitation during acceleration. Over time, the condition worsened, progressing to severe shuddering, delayed acceleration, and increasingly harsh gear changes. No warning lights or diagnostic messages appeared when the symptoms first began, making it difficult to identify the problem before it be

Transmission failure with no electronic warning or codes. Hard shifting was identified while under warranty but because no codes were present no action was taken to correct the issue.

Dealer warranty fixed lifter the first time lifter went out at 1100 miles. The vehicle has failed again with multiple lifters going out and camshaft needing being replaced also on my extended warranty at 73000 miles. I do not want to take this vehicle back in my possession as it has put me and my family at risk twice being stuck on highway with no power.

Driving home on the interstate my truck started making a knocking sound and the vehicle would shake over 45 miles an hour. We took to a dealer that said the lifters were bad, and potentially caused damage to the cam shaft. There was no warranty. I asked how this happens under 60,000 miles and was told it’s just part failure. And with the 6.2 engines, it’s a known occurrence. I then see that Chevy 6.2L engines for earlier years had a recall for this same issue but our 2017 was excluded. The dealer quoted $10,500 for repair. But we found a local shop that did the work for around $7500.

- #11753922July 31, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Purchased new Aug 2019 in PA. Headlights had condensation behind them within the first month. Brought it into the service dept. in Bedford PA. Was told they wouldn't do anything with it because the issue would resolve with the air port in the back of the headlight assembly. The situation did not resolve, took it back multiple times and they refused to replace headlight assembly while it was under warranty. Now there is an inch of water in the headlight, and the bottom right blinker quit working. Of course now it is out of warranty, and the dealership in WI where I moved is quoting me $1500 to replace the headlight assembly and seal.

I was driving the vehicle and suddenly there was a loss of power and a ticking noise. I was up to date with my oil changes per dealer recommendations. Had the vehicle towed to to Chevy dealer and they said they weren’t able to find what the problem is without further diagnosing. Further diagnosing was estimated to be about $2500. I had it towed to an independent shop, Viking Motorsports, to which the owner/mechanic tore down the engine and deemed it as bearing failure in my 6.2 L87. There was no warning whatsoever, just went from running to engine dead immediately. I proceeded to an engine change that has costed me approximately $15,000 and would like full reimbursement if not partial reimbursement from GM given that this is a known issue for the problem. I did not go with the Chevy Dealership for the job since they quoted me $20,000+ for the engine swap and realistically that wouldn’t make financial sense. I have a High Country and at 102,000 miles when the engine has failed. This has put me in such a financial bind.

On or around XXX a my 2021 Silverado started making a rattling sound from the engine. The truck began to stall and the engine shut off three times while driving. I attached scanner the next day and the track showed P00011 and P00016 codes. Those codes are for the Camshaft Sensor and the Crankshaft Sensor. I went online and did research about the two codes and discovered there had been a couple recalls for these codes concerning my year model truck: (Recall Number 25V-274; GM: Campain N252494000). NHTSA Engineering Analysis EA25007 or RQ26001 I spoke with the Dealer I purchased vehicle from (Lynn Layton Chevrolet - Decatur, Al)and they said they will not begin repairs until they receive payment from GM or myself. I then spoke with Tyler at GM Corporate Customer Service. He said my VIN was not included in the GM Campaign|Recall. I asked why not because it is a 2021 Silverado and I’m having the exact same problems as vehicles included in the recall. He said because they checked their system and the parts used on my truck were from a different manufacturer than those included on the recall. I said that shouldn’t matter because my truck is having the same exact problems. I asked him to check and see if GM would be able to provide financial assistance to have motor repaired or replaced. Tyler told me that GM will not do repairs - they will only replace the engine. He said GM would not provide any financial assistance because my truck has 170k plus miles on it. I informed Him that I had previously taken my truck to Lynn Layton Chevrolet about these symptoms and it was diagnosed as transmission/torque converter problem. They changed transmission fluid and charged me ~$700. I then asked if GM would authorize a “Goodwill Replacement”. He said they would not. I called Lynn Layton Decatur back and asked how much would engine and reps if I have to pay for it. They said 10k -12k A local mechanic said he will fix for $6,000. Please help me get this resolved. The contact's husband owned a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 54 MPH, the steering wheel jerked to the left and sent the vehicle over onto the opposite side of the road, where the vehicle struck a steel electric pole. The contact stated that the two front and two side air bags deployed. The Police Department, Sheriff's Office, and the Fire Department were called, and the firemen used the jaws of life to extract the contact's husband from the vehicle. A Police report was filed. Medical attention was needed, and the contact's husband was taken by ambulance and then airlifted to a hospital. The contact's husband sustained a compound fracture to the left forearm, a fractured pelvic bone, fractures to the C5, C6, and C7 in the neck, a fractured first rib, a spine injury, and a left knee injury. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,400.

- #11753743July 30, 2026BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
a week ago I was backing up and this truck is supposed to be equipped with a "REAR CROSS TRAFFIC BRAKINGF – When in Reverse, the system warns of detected cross-traffic approaching in either direction and provides alerts and hard emergency braking to help reduce the severity or help avoid collisions at very low speeds", I backed into another vehicle that was parked behind me. I did not receive any warnings and the automatic braking did not activate. I was fortunate that I was going slow and only damaged the other drivers door and my tailgate and bumper.
