Toyota is commemorating six decades of its popular Corolla model with the introduction of the 2027 Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition. This limited-run vehicle, based on the SE Hybrid grade, will be available in early 2027, with only 2,500 units produced for the U.S. market. The standard 2027 Corolla lineup is expected to arrive at dealerships this fall, with pricing for the LE grade starting at $23,325, excluding dealer processing and handling fees.

Since its debut in Japan in 1966, the Corolla has evolved from a compact car into one of Toyota's most significant global vehicles. This 2027 Toyota Corolla Special Edition aims to honor that heritage while incorporating modern hybrid efficiency and updated styling.

The 60th Anniversary Special Edition

The 2027 Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition will be limited to just 2,500 units for the U.S. market. This commemorative model builds on the SE Hybrid grade, blending fuel efficiency with a more athletic appearance. Buyers can choose between two exterior colors: Ice Cap or Supersonic Red, with the latter being exclusive to the Special Edition and a first for the Corolla sedan.

Exterior features for the 2027 Toyota Corolla Special Edition include 18-inch machined, black-finished alloy wheels and exclusive 60th Anniversary badging, replacing the standard SE emblems. Inside, the cabin features driver-focused sport seats with Black and Red Sport Fabric inserts, along with 60th Anniversary door sills and custom floor mats. A 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia System is standard on this special model.

Updates to the 2027 Corolla Lineup

The broader 2027 Toyota Corolla range offers both gas and hybrid powertrains across various grades. Gas models are available in LE, SE, and XSE grades, while the hybrid lineup includes Hybrid LE, Hybrid SE, and Hybrid XLE, in addition to the 60th Anniversary Special Edition. A new exterior color, Inked, has been added for both Corolla and Corolla Hatchback models.

Gas-powered Corolla models are equipped with a 2.0L Dynamic Force 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine, generating 169 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque. The LE grade achieves an estimated 32 city/41 highway/35 combined MPG. Hybrid models feature Toyota Hybrid System 5 (THS 5), combining a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT) for a net combined 138 horsepower. These hybrid variants offer an estimated 53 city/46 highway/50 combined MPG for the Hybrid LE FWD and Hybrid XLE grades. Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is an available option on Hybrid LE and Hybrid SE grades.

All 2027 Corolla models are built on the TNGA-C platform, which contributes to handling agility and ride comfort. Standard safety features across the lineup include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Interior and Technology Features

The interior of the 2027 Corolla emphasizes comfort and connectivity, with quality materials throughout the cabin. Standard technology includes an 8-inch touchscreen for the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, a 7-inch fully digital gauge cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.

Higher trim levels and the 2027 Toyota Corolla Special Edition come standard with a larger 10.5-inch multimedia screen. The XSE and Hybrid XLE grades further enhance the tech experience with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an available JBL® Premium Audio system. Connected Services trials are included, offering features such as Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Wi-Fi Connect, with Remote Connect also available on select grades.

The introduction of the 2027 Toyota Corolla 60th Anniversary Special Edition, alongside the updated standard lineup, continues the model's evolution. These new offerings aim to provide a blend of efficiency, technology, and distinctive design for prospective buyers, maintaining the Corolla's long-standing presence in the automotive market.
