Nissan's long-running Heisman campaign is set to return for its 16th year, launching on September 4, 2026, with a new content strategy. The "Tell Them a Heisman Sent You" campaign will now feature extended video episodes on YouTube, complemented by 30-second television spots during college football games. This year's iteration introduces a fresh lineup of Heisman Trophy winners and highlights several key Nissan vehicles, including the upcoming 2027 Rogue Hybrid.

New Campaign Approach and Featured Stars

The 2026 Nissan Heisman campaign shifts its focus to longer, episodic content available on YouTube, with shorter versions airing on major television networks. This new format aims to showcase Nissan's vehicle lineup through character-driven stories where Heisman legends compete to be the brand's top spokesperson.

The roster of athletes includes returning figures such as Travis Hunter, Derrick Henry, Tim Tebow, Eddie George, Barry Sanders, and Jim Plunkett. Notably, Fernando Mendoza, the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner and 2026 No. 1 overall NFL draft pick, will make his debut in the campaign later in the season. Mendoza, currently the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, expressed enthusiasm for joining the campaign and meeting football icons.

Highlighted Nissan Vehicles

The campaign features a selection of Nissan's current and future vehicles, chosen by the athletes for their performance and appeal. The Nissan Frontier PRO-4X is included, recognized as the #1 Best Truck for Tailgating by USA Today Sports Readers' Choice Awards, with 92% of models sold in the last decade still on the road.

Also showcased is the Nissan Rogue Platinum, which earned the No. 1 Compact SUV for New-Vehicle Quality in the J.D. Power 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study℠ (IQS). The three-row Nissan Pathfinder is highlighted for being named a "Best New Vehicle for Teens" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Consumer Reports. The all-new 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid will also debut within the campaign later this year, featuring Nissan's third-generation e-POWER hybrid technology and dual-motor all-wheel drive.

Broadcast Schedule and Market Performance

The "Tell Them a Heisman Sent You" campaign will premiere with 30-second TV commercials during Week 1 of college football on September 4. These spots will run throughout the season on ABC, ESPN, Fox, NBC, and Amazon Thursday Night Football. Full-length episodes will be released on YouTube and promoted across Nissan's social media channels.

Nissan enters the new football season with significant market momentum. The company has been the fastest-growing mainstream brand in the U.S. over the past 11 months, recording 17 consecutive months of year-over-year retail sales increases. Additionally, Nissan was ranked second among mass-market brands in the J.D. Power 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study.

This updated Nissan Heisman campaign 2026 reflects Nissan's ongoing strategy to connect with consumers through popular cultural events while highlighting its vehicle lineup and recent market successes. The blend of established and new talent, combined with an expanded digital presence, aims to maintain brand visibility throughout the college football season for Nissan owners and potential buyers.
