MINI has commenced its first-ever participation in the Rebelle Rally, with the new MINI Countryman Untamed Edition making its competitive debut. The rally, which began on October 8 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, will serve as a proving ground for the adventure-focused Countryman variant over approximately 1,500 miles of challenging terrain.

The Rebelle Rally Challenge

The Rebelle Rally is an off-road navigation competition that spans roughly 1,500 miles across Nevada, California, and Utah. Unlike modern navigation methods, competitors are prohibited from using GPS, relying instead on traditional tools such as maps, compasses, and road books to find checkpoints.

This event tests both vehicle durability and the teamwork of its participants. The demanding conditions are intended to push the limits of both the machinery and the human element, requiring strategic decision-making and precise navigation skills.

The MINI Countryman Untamed Edition's Debut

The 2026 Rebelle Rally marks the competitive introduction of the MINI Countryman Untamed Edition. This new variant is designed to offer enhanced capability and versatility for off-pavement exploration, aligning with MINI's broader global introduction of the model. Its distinctive, rugged design elements are intended to visually communicate its adventure-ready nature.

Behind the wheel of MINI's inaugural Rebelle Rally entry is Felicia Killman, an experienced rally competitor and MINI enthusiast. Killman has a background in both driving and navigating rally cars, including campaigning a specially prepared MINI in stage rally competition. Joining her as navigator is Erika Ferrer from BMW Group Corporate Communications Mexico, who brings experience as a co-driver in various rally championships, including three consecutive regional titles.

Killman and Ferrer have undergone intensive field training, practicing navigation across dunes, rocky terrain, and loose surfaces. Their preparation also included extensive map-and-compass navigation practice and decision-making exercises under pressure, crucial for the rally's no-GPS format. The vehicle itself has undergone preparation by a dedicated BMW Group engineering team, balancing standard engineering tasks with the specific requirements for off-road competition. Technical and outfitting partners, including Thule, DealerTire, Pelican Cases, Morimoto Lighting, Heinlein Racing Development, Peak Design, and GoPro, also supported the vehicle's readiness.

MINI's Rally Heritage and Future

MINI's entry into the Rebelle Rally extends its history in motorsport, which includes notable victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in the 1960s with the original Mini Cooper S. These early successes demonstrated the Mini's compact dimensions, agile handling, and innovative engineering against more powerful competitors. More recently, MINI has achieved international success in the Dakar Rally, further establishing its reputation in demanding off-road competitions globally.

This inaugural Rebelle Rally participation represents a new chapter for the brand, demonstrating the capabilities of the MINI Countryman Untamed Edition in a real-world, challenging environment. The event allows the new model to showcase its adventure-focused design and engineering, moving from a global reveal to a rigorous competitive test.

For prospective MINI Countryman Untamed Edition owners and enthusiasts, the Rebelle Rally provides a public demonstration of the vehicle's ruggedness and off-road potential. The performance of the MINI Countryman Untamed Edition in this challenging event offers insight into its design for adventure beyond paved roads.
