The 2027 Kia EV3 all-electric SUV has been named “Green Car of the Year®” by Green Car Journal, with the 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid also securing “Green Minivan of the Year™” honors. These awards recognize Kia's efforts in expanding its electrified vehicle offerings across different segments.

The 2027 Kia EV3: Expanding Electric Accessibility

The all-new 2027 Kia EV3 is positioned as Kia's most accessible electric vehicle, aiming to broaden EV adoption among a wider consumer base. Its design draws inspiration from the larger EV9, integrating advanced technology with practical everyday usability within a nimble SUV package. This model is intended to make all-electric mobility more attainable for a diverse range of drivers.

Underpinning the EV3 is the 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), a dedicated EV architecture. This platform supports an energy-dense battery system, enabling certain trims to achieve an estimated range of up to 321 miles on a single charge. For convenience, the EV3 supports rapid charging capabilities, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% charge in approximately 31 minutes when connected to a 350kW DC fast charger. Notably, it features NACS compatibility, eliminating the need for an adapter.

The introduction of the 2027 Kia EV3 is anticipated in Kia showrooms nationwide towards the end of 2026, offering a new option in the growing electric SUV market.

2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid: Efficiency Meets Family Utility

The 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid received its “Green Minivan of the Year™” award for successfully blending innovative technology with a practical design, without compromising on performance or fuel efficiency. This turbo-hybrid variant delivers a robust 242 horsepower, providing ample power for daily driving and family excursions.

Fuel economy is a key highlight, with the Carnival Hybrid achieving an EPA estimated combined rating of 33 MPG. Beyond its powertrain, the minivan is equipped with a selection of advanced driver assistance features designed to enhance safety and convenience. Its spacious cabin offers flexible seating for up to eight passengers.

The Carnival Hybrid also provides substantial utility, boasting up to 145.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row. This combination of efficiency, technology, and interior volume makes it a compelling choice for families seeking a versatile and environmentally conscious vehicle.

Recognition for Kia's Electrified Strategy

These distinct awards from Green Car Journal underscore Kia's strategic focus on expanding its electrified vehicle portfolio across various market segments. Eric Watson, vice president of sales for Kia America, highlighted that the recognition of both the EV3 and Carnival Hybrid demonstrates the breadth and diversity within Kia's electrified product lineup.

The Green Car Awards, presented annually by Green Car Journal, are widely acknowledged as significant environmental accolades within the automotive industry. Green Car Journal and its associated platform, GreenCarJournal.com, have been dedicated to covering the intersection of automobiles, energy, and environmental sustainability since their inception in 1992, making their endorsements influential.

This dual recognition serves to validate Kia's approach in offering a range of gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles through its network of nearly 800 dealers across the U.S., including several models assembled in America.

For consumers actively researching new vehicles, these awards provide an independent endorsement of Kia's latest electrified models. The 2027 Kia EV3 and 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid offer distinct propositions for those prioritizing environmental performance, whether in a compact electric SUV or a family-friendly hybrid minivan.
