Kia America Sets New Monthly Sales Record in August 2026

Kia America achieved an all-time monthly Kia August sales record in August 2026, reporting 83,793 units sold. This represents a 1 percent increase compared to the previous year. The company also announced pricing and feature updates for several 2027 model year vehicles, including the EV3, Sportage, and Niro.

Record Sales Performance for Kia

Kia's August 2026 sales surpassed previous monthly highs, with retail sales reaching 77,984 units, also a new record for the month. For the period spanning January through August 2026, cumulative sales climbed to 590,377 units, while retail sales through Kia dealerships totaled 543,085 units. Both year-to-date figures mark a 3 percent increase over the prior year and represent all-time highs for the brand, contributing to the Kia August sales record.

Six key Kia models contributed to these record August figures. The Seltos saw a significant 53 percent increase, while the Carnival grew by 13 percent. The K4 and K5 models each increased by 7 percent and 4 percent respectively, with the Telluride and Sportage also posting 4 percent gains.

Electrified Models Drive Growth

Electrified vehicles played a substantial role in Kia's sales success. Sales of hybrid models surged by 99 percent in August 2026 compared to the previous year, setting a new record for the month. The broader electrified lineup, encompassing battery-electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles, also achieved a record August performance with a 36 percent year-over-year increase.

For the January-August period, hybrid sales saw an even more dramatic rise of 111 percent year-over-year, and total electrified model sales increased by 60 percent. Specific hybrid models that set August records include the Sportage Hybrid with a 40 percent increase, the Sorento Hybrid up by 22 percent, and the Carnival Hybrid growing by 15 percent.

2027 Model Year Updates and Pricing

Kia also unveiled pricing for several 2027 model year vehicles. The all-new 2027 EV3, an affordable all-electric SUV, will start at $29,890 MSRP, plus a $1,495 destination charge. It offers an EPA-estimated 321 miles of all-electric range for the Wind FWD and Land FWD trims, with an available 288-horsepower GT model.

The gas-powered 2027 Sportage will have a starting MSRP of $28,990. Its X-Line trim now includes a standard Panoramic Sunroof and Smart Power Liftgate. The refreshed 2027 Niro hybrid crossover, exclusively offered as a hybrid, begins at $29,890. It features redesigned front and rear fascias, new exterior colors, an updated cabin, and new driver assistance technologies like Highway Driving Assist 2 and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor.

Kia's strong performance, highlighted by the Kia August sales record, positions the brand for continued momentum. The introduction of new 2027 models with competitive pricing and enhanced features aims to maintain this trajectory through the end of the year, potentially leading to a fourth consecutive annual sales record.
