Acura #93 Battles to Fourth at Road America, #60 Retires

The Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian #93 team secured a fourth-place finish at the six-hour SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America on August 3, 2026. This result allowed the team to maintain its second-place position in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship standings with two races remaining in the season.

Performance of the #93 Acura ARX-06

The #93 Acura ARX-06, driven by Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande, began the race from pole position, leading the initial 15 laps. However, the team faced early challenges, including a speeding penalty during its first pit stop, which dropped the car to the rear of the GTP field.

Further complicating their race, the #93 car experienced a torque shaft sensor failure. This issue significantly reduced the vehicle's power output and straight-line speed for the remainder of the six-hour event. Despite these technical difficulties, the team continued to compete.

Yelloly and van der Zande ultimately crossed the finish line in fifth place. Following a post-race penalty assessed to another competitor for an earlier incident involving the #93, their official position was elevated to fourth. This outcome helped the Acura #93 team retain its second-place standing in the IMSA championship.

Challenges for the #60 Acura ARX-06

The sister #60 Acura ARX-06, piloted by Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, started the race from second position. The car initially appeared poised to contend for a podium finish, but multiple incidents throughout the event necessitated extended pit stops for bodywork repairs.

These repairs caused the #60 to fall outside the top five. The car's day concluded prematurely in the final hour due to another incident, resulting in a 10th-place finish, with the car not running at the end of the race. Driver Tom Blomqvist acknowledged making a mistake that contributed to the car's final incident.

Race Conditions and Team Outlook

The six-hour SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America was marked by numerous disruptions, with the series issuing over 40 penalties throughout the event. This high number of incidents contributed to a challenging environment for all competitors.

Drivers Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande both commented on the difficulties, particularly the torque shaft sensor issue on the #93, which forced them to reduce power.
