Acura announced on July 16, 2026, the integration of Google Gemini, an advanced artificial intelligence assistant, into its vehicles equipped with Google built-in. This enhancement aims to provide drivers of select ADX, MDX, and ZDX models with a more conversational and hands-free voice interaction experience. The update is designed to offer a more connected and personalized driving environment.

Enhanced Conversational AI

Google Gemini serves as an upgrade to the existing Google Assistant, offering more intelligent and natural interactions. It is capable of maintaining context across multiple exchanges, allowing drivers to engage in continuous dialogue without needing to repeat information. This functionality is intended to help drivers keep their focus on the road and their hands on the steering wheel, improving safety and convenience.

The system moves beyond requiring exact commands, enabling more nuanced requests from users. For instance, instead of a precise query like "Hey Google, find the nearest restaurant for lunch," drivers can now ask, "Hey Google, I'm hungry and want to stop for lunch along my route, what are some options?" Gemini's ability to understand context and layered instructions makes the in-vehicle experience more intuitive and akin to natural conversation.

Introducing Gemini Live for Broader Assistance

Further expanding its capabilities, Acura is also integrating Gemini Live, a feature that facilitates free-flowing conversations with the AI assistant. Drivers can activate this function with a simple prompt such as "Hey Google, let’s talk." Gemini Live extends beyond typical vehicle-related requests, offering assistance with a wide array of tasks.

This includes helping to plan weekend trips, identifying family-friendly activities, summarizing current news, or even aiding in brainstorming sessions for upcoming meetings. The goal is to keep Acura drivers informed, organized, and engaged while they are on the move. Access to Acura Google Gemini features requires drivers to be signed into their Google Account.

Availability Across Acura Models

The integration of Acura Google Gemini will be rolled out to specific Acura models and model years equipped with Google built-in. The 2024 Acura ZDX, across all its trims, will receive this update. For the Acura MDX, all trims from the 2025 model year onwards will be included.

Additionally, the 2026 Acura ADX A-Spec Advance trim will also feature the new AI assistant. This phased rollout ensures that a range of Acura's premium vehicles will benefit from the enhanced voice interaction technology. Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, noted that intelligent technology is a key element of the premium driving experience for Acura clients.

The introduction of Google Gemini into these Acura models represents a step towards more integrated and intuitive in-car technology. By offering more natural and context-aware voice interactions, Acura aims to provide a more seamless digital experience for its drivers, aligning with current trends in automotive connectivity and artificial intelligence.
