BMW M and BMW Motorrad are releasing nine exclusive "100 Jahre Nürburgring" edition models to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Nürburgring racetrack in 2027. This special BMW Nürburgring edition highlights the track's role in developing high-performance vehicles, combining unique design elements with advanced technology.
Exclusive Models and Design Details
The "100 Jahre Nürburgring" edition includes six BMW M automobiles and three BMW Motorrad M models. The automotive lineup features the BMW M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan, and M5 Touring. For motorcycles, the BMW M 1000 RR, BMW M 1000 R, and BMW M 1000 XR are part of this collection, with each Motorrad model limited to 100 units worldwide.
A defining characteristic across all nine models is the exclusive Historical Nürburgring Green paint. This color is complemented by "100 Years" logos, "Nürburgring since 1927" wording, and the Nürburgring silhouette integrated into the design.
BMW M automobiles feature edition graphics on the front doors, C-pillar, and rear sections, depending on the model. Stripes in the exclusive design run across the M carbon roof for coupe and sedan models, and across the steel roof for Touring variants. The color scheme incorporates light grey tones, Nürburgring Green, and black, with green accents on wheels and kidney frames. Black Sapphire metallic is an alternative paint option.
Motorcycle designs include a painted fuel tank with the Nürburgring silhouette, an airbox cover with anniversary branding and a "one of 100" marking, carbon wheels with Nürburgring Green accent stripes, and an Alcantara-look seat with "100" embroidery. Black components like the rear swingarm and rear frame complete the look.
Performance Enhancements and Interior Features
A key technical innovation for the inline six-cylinder BMW M models (M2, M3, M4) in this BMW Nürburgring edition is BMW M Ignite. This patented pre-chamber ignition system, implemented in these engines since July and August 2026, aims to increase efficiency, particularly under high load conditions.
BMW M Ignite is designed to reduce fuel consumption during racetrack use and assist in meeting Euro 7 emissions requirements, all without compromising performance. This technology exemplifies the direct transfer of motorsport expertise to production vehicles.
Inside the BMW M automobiles, the black interior is accented with contrasting green and white stitching. Inline six-cylinder models receive an M Alcantara steering wheel with matching stitching and a 12 o'clock marker, while BMW M5 models feature an M steering wheel with a similar design.
The Motorrad models incorporate visible carbon, Alcantara-look materials, black chassis components, and individual anniversary markings. Standard equipment for the motorcycles includes the M Track Package, an M Cover Kit for the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R, an exclusive M motorcycle mat, and a paddock stand.
Availability and the Nürburgring Legacy
Ordering for the BMW M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan, and M5 Touring models from this BMW Nürburgring edition begins in September 2026. The BMW M2 will follow, with orders opening in January 2027. Information regarding the availability and ordering of the BMW Motorrad special models will be announced at a later date.
The Nürburgring, particularly its 20.8-kilometer Nordschleife with 73 corners and significant elevation changes, has served as a crucial development and testing ground for BMW M and BMW Motorrad for decades. BMW's connection to the track dates back to its first victory there in 1927.
This demanding circuit allows for extreme condition testing of chassis, powertrains, aerodynamics, brakes, and thermal management systems. Insights gained from this rigorous testing directly inform the development of series production vehicles, embodying the edition's tagline: "Born on the Racetrack. Made for the Streets."
The "100 Jahre Nürburgring" edition underscores BMW M and BMW Motorrad's historical ties to the iconic German racetrack. These nine special models offer enthusiasts a blend of performance, exclusive design, and motorsport-derived technology, celebrating a century of automotive and motorcycle heritage at the Nürburgring.
