Audi's new RS 5 plug-in hybrid is expanding its market reach to several overseas regions, following a strong initial reception in Europe where its entire 2026 annual production has already sold out. The high-performance model's global debut coincides with Audi's first Formula 1 night race at the Singapore Grand Prix this coming weekend, October 9-11, where it will be showcased alongside the brand's F1 cars.

Global Market Launch and Strong Demand

The Audi RS 5 has experienced significant demand since its European introduction. All units planned for 2026 production have been pre-ordered, and European sales figures are nearly double initial expectations. This strong performance has paved the way for its availability outside of Europe.

Manufactured at Audi's Neckarsulm plant, the RS 5 is now launching in key overseas markets. Sales are commencing in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, with subsequent rollouts planned for Korea, Taiwan, and additional regions. This expansion aims to meet the interest from markets known for their enthusiasm for Audi Sport models.

Performance and Electrification Showcase

The Audi RS 5 represents a significant step for Audi Sport as its first high-performance plug-in hybrid. The model delivers 470 kW (639 hp), integrating electrification with performance capabilities. This blend of power and hybrid technology positions the RS 5 as a natural complement to Audi's involvement in Formula 1, which also emphasizes hybrid powertrains.

The RS 5, in both Avant and Sedan variants, is regularly featured in the Formula 1 'Hot Lap' program at select races. This initiative allows guests to experience grand prix circuits from the passenger seat of high-performance production vehicles, driven by professional racers. Audi utilizes these events to highlight the RS 5's capabilities and its connection to motorsport innovation.

Singapore Grand Prix Special Liveries

To mark its overseas market launch and Audi's participation in the Singapore Grand Prix, the RS 5 and the Audi R26 Formula 1 cars will feature unique designs. The F1 cars, driven by Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, will sport a variant of Audi's new Titanium Silver Gray color. This special livery is inspired by Singapore at night, incorporating a bluish shimmer that reflects the city's twilight and illuminated architecture around Marina Bay.

The design also pays tribute to Singapore's cultural heritage by integrating traditional Peranakan patterns, reflecting the city's diverse visual influences. The new Audi RS 5 will also be displayed in this special color at prominent locations in Singapore, including the Funan Mall and the Audi House of Progress on Cross Street. It is important to note that this specific color scheme is a limited design for the event and will not be available for production models.

The expansion of the Audi RS 5 plug-in hybrid to global markets, coupled with its prominent display at the Singapore Grand Prix, underscores Audi's strategy to link its high-performance road vehicles with its motorsport endeavors. For prospective owners in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and other upcoming regions, the RS 5 offers a new option in the performance hybrid segment, building on its already successful European launch.
