Audi Group maintained a stable operating profit in the first half of 2026, reaching €1.1 billion, despite a challenging global market environment marked by geopolitical uncertainties, US tariffs, and heightened competition in China. The company also announced significant product portfolio expansions, including the upcoming Audi Q9 SUV and the all-electric Audi A2 e-tron.
Financial Performance and Market Conditions
Audi Group reported a stable operating profit of €1.1 billion in the first half of 2026, a slight increase from €1.087 billion in the same period last year. This resulted in an improved operating margin of 3.8%, up from 3.3%. Despite these gains, the company's revenue decreased to €29.2 billion from €32.6 billion, primarily attributed to a challenging market environment.
Geopolitical uncertainties, US tariffs, and intense competition, particularly within the Chinese market, significantly influenced Audi's business performance. The company's financial results were positively impacted by strict cost discipline and reduced provisions related to CO₂ compliance, alongside a decline in restructuring expenses. Net cash flow saw a substantial increase, reaching €1.9 billion compared to €0.9 billion in the first half of 2025.
Looking ahead, Audi has revised its full-year 2026 forecast, anticipating revenue between €58 billion and €63 billion and an operating margin ranging from 5% to 7%. The net cash flow forecast remains stable at €3 billion to €4 billion, reflecting ongoing efforts to navigate global economic pressures for Audi H1 2026 results.
Strategic Product Expansion
Audi is proceeding with a significant renewal of its product portfolio, introducing two key models designed to enhance its market position. The new Audi Q9, positioned as the brand's portfolio flagship, is a large full-size SUV. It was unveiled in New York at the end of July and is slated for launch in North America and Europe during the fourth quarter of 2026. This model was specifically developed to meet the demands of the US market, focusing on space, technical excellence, quality, and safety.
Further expanding its electric vehicle offerings, Audi will unveil the fully electric Audi A2 e-tron in the fall of 2026. This entry-level model family will compete in the compact class and aims to make premium electric mobility more accessible. The A2 e-tron will be manufactured at Audi's Ingolstadt plant, contributing to the rejuvenation of the brand's model range.
Global Sales and Regional Highlights
In the first six months of 2026, Audi brand deliveries totaled 727,245 vehicles worldwide, representing a decline of just over 7% compared to the previous year. This reduction was largely driven by persistent competitive challenges in China and the impact of US tariffs. However, performance outside of China remained more resilient, with deliveries nearly matching the levels of the prior year.
Key European markets demonstrated stable demand. Germany saw a 4% increase in deliveries, reaching 107,571 vehicles, with fully electric battery electric vehicles (BEVs) experiencing a 23% surge to over 25,000 units. Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) demand also grew significantly by 147% in Germany. Other major European markets, including Spain (+21%), Italy (+17%), and Great Britain (+10%), reported higher deliveries across all powertrain types. Incoming orders in Western Europe increased by 7% year-on-year, with PHEV models showing a 117% rise. North America (excluding Mexico) deliveries stood at 82,187 units, while China recorded 232,227 units.
Audi's first-half 2026 performance reflects a strategic focus on efficiency and product renewal amidst a complex global economic landscape. The introduction of key new models like the Audi Q9 and Audi A2 e-tron signals the brand's direction for future growth and market positioning for Audi owners and prospective buyers, as indicated by the Audi H1 2026 results.
