Alex Palou secured victory at the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Detroit Grand Prix today, leading a complete podium sweep for Honda-powered cars. This marks Honda's fourth consecutive win on the downtown Detroit street circuit, with Kyle Kirkwood and Graham Rahal finishing second and third, respectively. The Honda IndyCar Detroit win further solidifies Honda's strong performance in the series.

Race Highlights and Championship Standings

Palou, driving the HRC-liveried 'Honda Honda,' claimed his fourth win of the 2026 season and his second career victory in Detroit. This triumph extends his lead in the drivers’ championship to a significant 62 points as he pursues his fifth NTT INDYCAR SERIES title. The HRC livery also serves to raise awareness for new HRC US business ventures, including a performance parts division offering genuine HRC components for Acura and Honda road cars.

Honda has maintained an undefeated record on the downtown Detroit street circuit since the series returned in 2023, securing every race win held there. This consistent performance underscores the manufacturer's engineering capabilities in the highly competitive INDYCAR series.

Podium Finishers and Season Performance

Kyle Kirkwood of Andretti Global finished second, moving back into second place in the overall championship standings. This marks Kirkwood's third podium finish of the year, following a second-place result in Phoenix and a victory at the inaugural Java House Grand Prix of Arlington. Kirkwood was the Detroit Grand Prix winner in 2025.

Graham Rahal, representing Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, completed the all-Honda podium in third place. This is Rahal's third podium of the 2026 season, with previous third-place finishes at Barber Motorsports Park and the Sonsio Grand Prix. His consistent performance adds to Honda's strong showing.

Honda's Dominant Presence

Beyond the podium sweep, Honda-powered cars demonstrated significant depth, with seven of the top ten finishers utilizing Honda engines. This included Felix Rosenqvist in sixth, Louis Foster in seventh, Marcus Ericsson in eighth, and Kyffin Simpson in ninth. These results were achieved across four different Honda teams, highlighting the broad success of the power units.

This marks the second time in four years that Honda has swept the podium at the Detroit Grand Prix, having previously achieved a 1-2-3 finish in 2024. The strong showing in Detroit follows a recent victory at the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, further cementing Honda's competitive position in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

The consistent Honda IndyCar Detroit win and overall strong performance at the Detroit Grand Prix reinforce Honda's standing as a dominant force in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. These results provide significant momentum as the championship continues, showcasing the capabilities of Honda's racing technology and its partner teams.
