For technicians, this Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) requires a Service Technical Update Information (STUI) picture as part of the repair process. The STUI picture must clearly show the newly installed amplifier along with the last 6 digits of the VIN and the repair date on a piece of paper. Claims submitted without a clear, complete, or correct picture are subject to debit. Additionally, incident parts are subject to callback, and claims may be debited if parts are requested but not returned.

Repair Procedure Summary

The repair involves replacing the external amplifier located under the driver's seat. The general steps are:

1. Record the customer's radio presets before starting the repair. Ensure the engine is off.
2. Remove both front and rear bolts securing the driver's seat (14mm bolts). The tightening torque for these bolts is 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft (49.0 – 63.7 Nm).
3. Gently raise the driver's seat to access the amplifier, taking care to avoid damaging the floor harness seat connectors.
4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal by loosening the 10mm bolt.
5. Remove the existing external amplifier by disconnecting its connectors and loosening the mounting bolts.
6. Install the new external amplifier and connect its connectors.
7. Take the required STUI photo of the newly installed amplifier, including the last 6 digits of the VIN and the repair date on a piece of paper.
8. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
9. Turn the ignition ON, wait for the head unit to power on, and verify that sound can be heard from all speakers. If testing radio, ensure clear sky view for signal. If testing Bluetooth/Phone Projection, ensure the phone is compatible, volume is increased, and properly connected.
10. Reprogram the customer's radio preset stations if necessary.
11. Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order to complete the procedure.
