2023-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale / Dodge Hornet Uconnect Update

Stellantis has released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 08-370-25, dated November 8, 2025, to resolve various software-related issues affecting the Uconnect 5 system in 2023-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet vehicles. This update aims to improve the overall stability and functionality of the infotainment system, addressing several common customer complaints, including the need for an Alfa Romeo Tonale Uconnect update.

This bulletin, revision 08-161-24, supersedes TSB 08-161-24, which was issued on July 13, 2024. The updated TSB includes significant revisions such as updated vehicle years, build dates, new market notes, customer symptoms, repair summaries, Labor Operation (LOP) codes, and detailed repair procedure steps.

Symptoms

Owners of affected vehicles may experience one or more of the following issues with their Uconnect 5 system:

• The "Head Unit (HU) does not show the Charge/Climate Summary popup after key off."
• "Performance Pages disappear."
• "Blind spot chime does not work if CAN activation signals duration is less than two seconds."
• "Speed limit sign on Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) is showing incorrect speed."
• "Touch freeze/Disassociated Center Stack Display (DCSD) off."
• "CP/AA wireless disconnection."

These symptoms indicate underlying software problems within the Uconnect system, which are addressed by the software improvements detailed in TSB 08-370-25.

Diagnosis / Trigger Conditions

If a customer reports any of the symptoms listed above, a technician should proceed with the repair procedure outlined in TSB 08-370-25. The diagnosis involves using a wiTECH Scan Tool to verify that all related systems are functioning correctly. If any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or symptom conditions other than those listed in this bulletin are present, they must be recorded and repaired before proceeding with this update.

This bulletin applies to 2023-2025 Dodge Hornet (GG) and 2023-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale (GC) vehicles built on or before November 25, 2024 (MDH 1125XX). Affected vehicles are equipped with either the Uconnect 5 W 10.25" Display (Sales Codes UBH or UEH) or the Uconnect 5 Nav W 10.25" Display (Sales Codes UBS or UES).

Important Warnings for Technicians and Owners

• Display Screen Module (DSM) Update: The Display Screen Module (DSM) must be updated to the latest available software before the radio update is performed. Failure to do so may result in a "blank/black screen."
• USB Drive Requirement: A 32 GB USB flash drive is required for this update. It is recommended to use a quality, name brand (Kingston®) flash drive over a generic one.
• USB Port Usage: "Make sure no other device is plugged into any of the USB ports while performing this re-program. If other devices are connected to USB ports during re-programming, it may cause failure of files to be loaded which may cause the radio to need replacement."
• Ignition During Update: "Do NOT turn the ignition off until the two minute timer has expired." during the initial update phase. Also, "Do Not turn off the vehicle when the software update is completed and told to remove the USB flash drive." and "Do Not turn off the ignition at this point." until the radio restarts and the home screen is displayed.

Repair Procedure Summary

The repair involves a multi-step software update to bring the radio to version U33.43. This process requires careful execution by a qualified technician:

1. Pre-Update Checks: Verify the Display Screen Module (DSM) has the latest software. If not, update it first to avoid a "blank/black screen" (as shown in Fig. 1, a security warning may appear, requiring the technician to press "No").
2. Check Radio Software Level: Access "Vehicle Settings" > "System Information" to find the current "Radio Version" (Application Version).
   • If the radio software is U33.43 or higher, no update is needed for the radio.
   • If the software is at or above U29.42 but under U33.43, a single USB update to U33.43 is required.
   • If the software is under U29.42 (e.g., U27.52 or lower), a two-step update is necessary: first to U29.42, then to U33.43.
3. USB Flash Drive Preparation: A blank 32 GB USB flash drive, formatted to NTFS, is needed. Technicians download the software files from DealerCONNECT>Service>Uconnect Command Center>Uconnect>More Information >Dealer software downloads. When downloading, technicians must select the "MAC" radial button (as depicted in Fig. 2). The downloaded file will be a ".zip" folder on the USB's root directory; it must not be unzipped.
4. In-Vehicle Update: With the engine started, the prepared USB flash drive is inserted into a USB port. The system will verify the update and prompt the technician to press "Update Now" (Fig. 3). During the update, the technician must press "Continue" on the display screen (Fig. 4). The update process can take approximately two hours (Fig. 5 shows "Update Successful" and prompts to remove the USB).
5. Post-Update Steps: After the update, the radio may display a "SWITCH-INVALID_BINARY" error pop-up (Fig. 6). This message should be ignored, and the technician should press "OK" to continue (Fig. 7, showing "Completed Update"). The radio software level is then re-checked to confirm U33.43. A "Factory Reset" is performed via "Vehicle Setting" > "Reset" > "Perform Factory Reset." After the reset, the ignition is turned off, the driver's door opened and closed to allow modules to sleep for five minutes, then the ignition is turned back on. Finally, any set DTCs are cleared using the wiTECH tool after cycling the ignition Off and back to Run quickly.

Required Tools or Parts

• wiTECH Scan Tool or equivalent diagnostic equipment.
• One 32 GB USB flash drive (Kingston® brand recommended).

Warranty Information

This repair is reimbursable under the provisions of the warranty. The dealer must use failure code CC (Customer Concern) with this Technical Service Bulletin. When using failure code CC, the 3C's (customer's concern, cause, and correction) must be provided for processing.
