The power lift gate started malfunctioning maybe six months after I purchased the car new. I brought it to Toyota two or three times and they cannot replicate it because it’s a random occurrence. It will either not open and beep open an inch and beep. open foot and beep , there are no recalls. I’ve been told it happens to other people and for some reason Toyota is unable to fix this. It is very frustrating and it has been happening on a brand new car. Also, there seems to be some defect where mice are nesting and getting in to the car into the cabin air filter in quite a few Toyota models. This needs to be rectified also.

Sunroof glass blew out. Driving down road, no traffic, sounded like a shotgun blast. Pulled over and saw the sunroof had a hole and the rest was crystallized. Had the interior cover been pulled back we would have been showered with broken glass.

On Saturday [XXX], I was driving my car when the seatbelt light started beeping as well as a warning on the dash saying there was an airbag malfunction. I immediately took my car into the Toyota dealership in Roseville, California and Monday I was notified that this was part of the recall for defective airbags, I was also told that there was no fix currently and there wouldn’t be one until March 2026. they said the delay was due to the fact that the problem with high humidity so they were taking care of cars in high humidity areas first and California would be later. Until then they said they would keep my car and give me a loaner which turned out to be a regular RAV rather than the hybrid which I own. I told them that was unacceptable that I bought the car for the hybrid feature and they said they didn’t have any hybrids available. I certainly hope I get a hybrid to drive for a year and 7 months! Keep getting an service engine maintenance message/ check engine light. No codes show up, most likely the coolant bypass valve everyone is having an issue with. Don't receive message when ac is off. Or when blasting heat. Reset and comes back. Needs to be a recall. I see there is a class action lawsuit pending.

Tires were problematic at less than 36K miles, but dealer did not mention anything other than a need to rotate and balance the tires.

Started seeing the message on the dashboard that says “engine maintenance required visit your dealer” when I took it to get it checked out they said it was the coolant bypass valve, the worker at the Toyota dealership mentioned that it has been happening to other vehicles as well, so he knew exactly what the message meant. Upon doing my own research I found many others with the same issue on their RAV4’s as well. This issue is not covered by their warranty

I own a 2021 RAV4 which I routinely get serviced at the Passport Toyota. On June 29, I took my car to Passport Toyota for service because the maintenance required message appeared on my car’s dashboard. The service advisor texted me a list of recommended services for my RAV4. One of recommended services was to replace the coolant bypass valve. I agreed to the service at $800. On July 3rd the check engine light came on and the car begin to overheat. I was 2 miles away and immediately drove there to inform them of the issue. They checked my car in for service, and explained to me that a hose must have come loose and was the cause of a coolant leak. When I received my vehicle, the check engine light was off, and the car seemed to be in working condition. On July 23 the maintenance required message returned. Again, I immediately drove my vehicle to the dealership and checked it into the service department. My service advisor notified me that they needed to reset the maintenance required message, and it would go away. I received my car back and the maintenance required message was no longer there and seemed to be in working conditioned. The next morning, July 24 while driving to an appointment, my car started to overheat and the check engine light came on again. This time the car was smoking. I was less than 5 miles from the dealership so I took it back to the them and checked it in for service. After having my car in for service for one week, they called me and stated that the issue was related to me having blown a head gasket, and I would need a new engine. The service department continued to do test as required by Toyota to determine the cost of a engine and how much they would cover. Three weeks later, they told me that Toyota will pay half the cost and I have to pay $3200 out of pocket with only about year warranty. I brought my car in several times and clearly mistakes and misdiagnosis were made on their part which led to the destruction of my vehicle.

The paint of the exterior body is peeling off after becoming bubble on the surface. It appears all over the body including hood, roof, doors, etc. For reference, please see attached photos. This can eventually start rusting. This has come to know only after using a car for a year and four months, which proves this needs to be addressed because it may be going to start rusting other parts of the body or structural components. Car is available for inspection, on request.

I just purchased a 2024 Toyota RAV4 SE Hybrid in March 2024 at Summit Toyota in Akron, Ohio. On [XXX], the A/C was not blowing cold air and was making loud noise when turned on. I made an appointment for the car to get checked. Our RAV4 has approximately 3200 miles and is used by my wife sparingly around town. Summit Toyota called me on 8-19-24 and said there was damage to the compressor from “possibly” a rock. They said it would not be covered under the warranty. The total cost is around $1.250.00. We currently have a 2020 Highlander and many other Toyotas before our current ones. We decided to purchase this RAV4 because we wanted the reliability of a Toyota. After today’s assessment from Summit Toyota that this was “possibly” caused from a rock then there must be a design flaw in the grate opening size. This is a safety concern if rocks/road debris can damage components of the vehicle this easily. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

UNKNOWN. I drove my car off the dealership lot and not even 10 minutes into my ride home, as I pulled of the highway, I noticed that the RPM of the vehicle was slowing down. I pressed down harder on the gas to get it to accelerate but it just kept jerking and slowing down. Eventually I tried to get off to the side of the road and the car stopped in the middle of two lanes. The Check Engine, Battery warning and Electric Power Steering lights all came on the dashboard. There was also another error message: Engine Stopped Steering Power Low. I called the dealership and they came and towed the car. Not sure what the issue is but saw on some forums that this has happened to other RAV4 owners on used and brand new cars as well. Someone encouraged users to report it to the NHTSA so Toyota is aware of the issue.

I am unable to use any GPS system when connected to the Multimedia function via Apple CarPlay. The location of the car on the maps is inaccurate. I could be a few feet to a few miles off. I called Toyota Brand Engagement to report this. Initially I asked if they could give me a complimentary subscription to their "Direct Connect" as suggested by the Toyota Service center at my Dealership. Ihad hopes that this might improve the location services. This was denied. I have taken it to the dealership 3 times in an effort to resolve this. I was told that they have seen this a few times and have replaced the radios in some cars previously with some success. At the last service visit Toyota was contacted by the service center and they were told to NOT replace any more radios and Case #240705001763 was initiated by the Toyota Brand Engagement center concerning MY car. No fix has been supplied yet nor have I received any communication about this. On Friday August 9, I spoke to "resolution specialist" who said she would escalate this as a safety issue. I have not received any communication since (except the post call survey). This is a safety concern as it renders all GPS wayfinding apps inaccurate( Waze, Google maps, Apple maps. This is a huge problem if you are relying on these. I paid almost $50,000 for this car and I expect the GPS to work

While making a slow right turn into a carport (1-2 mph), the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own and crashed into the carport wall, continued to full throttle causing the tire to skip along side of the wall. The vehicle is currently not being used as we continue with the process with our insurance provider and begin to initiate contact with the car dealer. There were no warning lights or indications of a malfunctioning vehicle prior to that point. Initial online research provided at least 10 other reports that the exact same occurence happended to other 2023 RAV owners causing vehcile and property damage. We are fearful to use this vehicle now and would like to submit a safety report to prevent any similar instances in the future that may result in serious injury or death. NOTE: We also have video footage of the incident from our carport security camera, if you need that for further review.

While driving early in the morning on 95 without other traffic nearby, my moonroof exploded. There was no crack of a rock, only a very loud pop. The glass broke outward. I pushed it in to vacuum the pieces out in the picture attached
