  SERVICE INFORMATION NOTE - Failure to follow the procedures in this bulletin may result in the denial of a warranty claim. In an effort to protect the paint finish, Paint Guard Film (PGF) is applied on many new Nissan vehicles. Paint Guard Film is a temporary white plastic protective film that is applied by the factory to the horizontal painted surfaces of the vehicle. The PGF protects the paint finish during vehicle handling, transportation and storage from harmful elements such as acid rain, iron particles, bird droppings, tree sap and other environmental contaminants. NOTE - Paint Guard Film CANNOT remain on the vehicle for more than six months after the vehicle's manufacture date. PGF must be removed at the end of six months. A wiring issue between the Key-Slot and the BCM. 4. A Key-Slot issue. If DTC B2190 is stored due to 1 or 2 above, it will not erase, or go to "PAST", until a known good registered Intelligent Key is inserted into the Key-Slot.   SERVICE INFORMATION Starting with 2010 Model Year, Nissan vehicles have been gradually incorporating a new type of DTC known as Permanent DTC or P-DTC. If a vehicle is equipped with P-DTCs, all emission related DTCs will also set a P-DTC if the MIL is turned ON. A listing of which DTCs that will also set a P-DTC is found in the DTC Index in the EC-Engine Control section of the Electronic Service Manual (ESM). If a DTC repair is performed and the DTC erased, a vehicle may fail an Emission Inspection and Maintenance test if the P-DTC is not also erased. See this bulletin for further detail.

Advise the customer not to rest their foot on the brake while accelerating. * Use CONSULT-III plus in Engine Data Monitor to check operation of the brake lamp circuit signal. For the APPLIED VEHICLES, the below language supersedes similar language in existing owner?s manuals. Future printings of owner?s manuals for the APPLIED VEHICLES will also contain the below language. For the APPLIED VEHICLES: NISSAN recommends using Genuine NISSAN NS-3 CVT Fluid ONLY in NISSAN CVTs. Do not mix with other fluids. Do not use Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) or Manual Transmission fluid in a NISSAN CVT, as it may damage the CVT. Damage caused by the use of fluids other than as recommended is not covered under NISSAN's New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Using fluids that are not equivalent to Genuine NISSAN NS-3 CVT Fluid may also damage the CVT.   SERVICE INFORMATION Applied vehicles equipped with a CVT have a "cap" that appears to be a fluid level gauge. This "cap" will NOT have a gauge or "dipstick". This is normal. Do NOT replace the "cap" because it is thought to have a "dipstick". The fluid level is not checked from this location. The fluid level for applied vehicles is checked from the oil pan (refer to the appropriate section of the Electronic Service Manual [ESM]). Whenever checking, filling, or topping off a CVT's fluid level of an applied vehicle for any reason, use the procedure outlined in the appropriate section of the ESM.
