- #11771708October 16, 2026POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The vehicle speed decreased independently, causing a loss of motive power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times, where it was diagnosed with an internal transmission failure requiring replacement. The contact stated the vehicle was unsafe and noted the issue was a known failure. The manufacturer was notified, and two cases were filed. The failure mileage was approximately 20,070.

I own a 2023 Nissan Rogue with the 1.5L VC Turbo engine. I am reporting an ongoing engine/drivability safety concern involving hesitation, vibration, shuddering/stuttering, abnormal RPM behavior, and trouble accelerating from a stop. On XXX, at about 68,365 miles, a Nissan dealer documented high/fluctuating RPMs and vibration at idle, duplicated the vibration, and performed recall R25D1 by reprogramming the ECM and completing a test drive. On XXX at about 69,410 miles, I returned for continued acceleration problems and vibration. Multiple engine/transmission mounts were replaced, but the symptoms continued. Before another dealer visit in XXX, [XXX] scanned the vehicle after the check-engine light appeared and found P0196, related to engine oil temperature. My Nissan service advisor told me not to disclose that code so Nissan could diagnose the vehicle independently. Nissan then independently found and documented the same P0196 code. Nissan recommended and I paid for repairs including the thermostat assembly, throttle body, and spark plugs after being told they would address my concerns. The dealer’s own repair record states the shuddering was reduced but still present. I continue to experience hesitation, vibration, shuddering/stuttering, and abnormal RPM behavior. I also continue to receive an engine oil service message even after an oil change and reset. My concern is that Nissan Recall 26V080 covers certain 2023–2025 Rogues with this same 1.5L VC Turbo engine for increased engine oil temperature that can degrade lubrication and lead to bearing seizure, engine damage, or engine failure. Nissan Consumer Affairs says my VIN is not included. I am asking NHTSA to review whether vehicles outside the current recall population may be experiencing the same or related engine oil temperature and drivability problems. The vehicle is available for inspection and I have dealer repair orders and diagnostic records. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11770484October 11, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
While driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue at highway speeds, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power without warning. The engine completely failed and would not restart, leaving me stranded on a live highway and nearly causing a major multi-vehicle accident. The vehicle had to be towed directly from the highway to a Nissan dealership. This failure is directly related to NHTSA Campaign Number 26V-080 (Nissan Recall R25E2) for engine bearing failure and lubrication degradation. The sudden loss of acceleration at high speed created an immediate and extreme crash hazard."

For about two years, I have experienced recurring engine malfunctions accompanied by the warning "Engine Malfunction — Power Reduced." I have taken the vehicle to Nissan for this issue on at least four occasions, and the problem has continued.

ENGINE SEIZURE & PROPULSION LOSS: While driving in heavy, fast-moving traffic, the vehicle suffered a sudden, total engine seizure with zero warning lights or limp-mode transition, resulting in an immediate loss of power and narrowly avoiding a multi-car high-speed collision. This follows a prior turbo line issue and a complete engine replacement. PHANTOM AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB): The vehicle's collision avoidance system frequently and unprompted slams on the brakes violently while traveling at highway speeds when no obstacles exist, creating severe rear-end crash risks from trailing vehicles. ELECTRICAL/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: The central infotainment screen continuously resets, the radio locks in the "on" position, and the vehicle suffers chronic no-start battery drains. SERVICE RECORD FALSIFICATION: Authorized dealerships are covering up these major issues by performing complete engine swaps and ECM reprogramming, yet fraudulently documenting the work on customer invoices as minor checks (e.g., "engine checked") to mask defect trends. This vehicle is a severe public safety hazard and requires an immediate federal investigation and recall.

On [XXX], my 2023 Nissan Rogue unexpectedly locked itself immediately after I stepped out, trapping my 2-year-old son inside in the heat. The key fob was physically inside the car. When the doors locked, I immediately tried to use my smartphone app to unlock the car, but it failed completely. I called my husband, and his app failed too—neither of us could unlock the doors or start the engine remotely. We had to call 911 while my son was trapped for about 7 minutes, until he managed to finally unlock the door from the inside. The car has not yet been inspected by a dealer or the manufacturer, but 911 logged the active emergency. Besides previous minor lag with the smartphone app, there were no other warnings before the app failed. There was a no key detected notification on dashboard despite key being inside vehicle. The vehicle and its computer modules are fully available for inspection upon request. While driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue, the sunroof glass suddenly shattered/exploded while the vehicle was in motion. I was driving at a low speed and did not see or hear any object impact the glass before it shattered. There was no known collision or incident immediately before the glass broke. The sunroof glass shattered and fell into the vehicle. I am reporting this because I am concerned that the sunroof glass may have failed unexpectedly while the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle has approximately 22,000 miles.

The Defect: My 2023 Nissan Rogue AWD equipped with 1.5L 3 cylinder VC Turbo engine began making growling,, shaking noises matching the symptoms of known engine main bearing failures as outlined in NHTSA Recall 25V437/26V080 (R25E2). This happened with only about 44,000 miles on my vehicle. I brought it in to Oak Ridge Nissan under the recall on September 22, 2026. . I was expecting them to check the oil pan for any metallic debris or further related problems. The Service mechanic noted: "Reprogram ECM and complete test drive with NO DTC PO524 present. Good Condition R25E20 0.9." The mechanic also noted "Transmission mounts. Just the one vibrating badly possible motor mount also but would need tostart with trans mount." (Which they listed as a $1,146.76 expense.) I was told this is my responsibility but it is not usual for a car with 44,000 to have this kind of problem. I don't feel they inspected this problem in a sufficient professional manner. warning Safety Problem: The car had a engine malfunction when I brought it in. It now reads AWD Malfunction The nature of this engine sound, AWD warning, and "Auto Start/Stop dashboard warning,, and recalled problem render this vehicle unsafe to drive. I have owned three other Nissans over the years and this one is the most problematic - it should not have this kind of problem at such low mileage.

While I was driving the right passenger back window exploded which is made out of soda lime glass. During the incident, I almost lost control of the vehicle and glass got all over me and my husband. We were driving on the highway at a 70mph speed. The explosion caused me to become stunned while driving and I almost recked and caused harm to others due to the window exploding.

I parked my car this morning at work and all was normal. I left in my car at lunch time and noted that the rear glass was shattered. No signs of impact to the rear glass, just shattered in to a million pieces. I have vent visors on my car and always leave the side windows cracked to allow air flow and aid in the car's internal temperature during the day. The temperature for today, as noted on the car's temperature gauge, was 78 degrees outside. As the day went on, after the glass shattered, pieces began falling out (as it had to be driven home) and left a hole in the rear of the vehicle. I did report the incident to Security at Wytheville Community College but did not report it to local law enforcement as there was no indication that anything had made impact with the rear glass. I do have video of the rear glass after it was first noticed but I am unable to upload it.

My engine light randomly came on with a bunch of other things and my car lost power in acceleration and can barely maintain a speed of 50 mph. Code P0196 popped up and I wanna know if it’s the sensor or the water valve. We brought the car in 3 times to a Nissan dealership and they still haven’t fixed it.
