I was just at Empire Lakewood Nissan Dealership in Colorado on [XXX] for a few things. During my visit recall P4A17 was performed. I now notice on my drive in to work my heater isn't working now. It just blows cold air through the defroster and not at my feet as the HVAC indicator shows. I always have my auto climate feature set to 68 degrees F. It didn't finally come on until I'm almost to work. One of the best things about an electric car is I don't have to wait for the engine/coolant to warm up. My car was always warm by the time I left my neighborhood. Now I'm pulling into work and it's finally warm? What did P4A17 do to my car? When the outside temperature is below freezing, the heater runs for about 10 minutes and then starts blowing nothing but cold air. This is not just an inconvenience and discomfort, but leads to distracted driving which could result in an accident. Lately the temperature has sometimes dipped below 0 degrees F, and the car is almost undrivable. This problem has been widely discussed on the Leaf owners' forum online and was just acknowledged by my service representative at Valley Nissan in Longmont, CO. There were no warning lamps or other indications of the problem before or after.

Never had an issue with defrost or heat on my 2024 Leaf until I had the recall P4A17 applied. At the last cold snap, the heater worked fine for about 15m and than stopped working, just blowing cold air. I switched it off and waited a bit, switched it back on and it worked again. Called my local Nissan dealer and they said that they are aware of the issue and Nissan working on a fix. Happened again today 11 Feb. another cold snap, 12F when I left the house. Heater worked fine. Again after about 15m only cold air.

The rear view camera picture on the display is grey and does not display any video signal at temperatures below about 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Backing up without the rear view camera picture causes a safety hazard.

After a recent software update, my vehicle's cabin heating system began malfunctioning. On cold days, when heat is most critical, the system suddenly stops providing heat and blows cold air (around 64°F) for the remainder of the drive. This issue compromises both safety and comfort. My car is still under warranty so I brought it to the vehicle to Eden Prairie Nissan. Initially, the technician claimed I was not performing the "proper starting procedure" (keeping the blower speed low for the first few minutes). However, the provided owner’s manual supplement makes no mention of such a procedure affecting the heating system. After speaking with the dealership manager, I learned that other Nissan Leaf owners are experiencing the same issue. I was informed that the problem is an unintended consequence of a software update designed to prevent overheating. Despite following the dealership's instructions, the issue persists. For example yesterday during a 20-minute drive, the heating system stopped after five minutes, even with the blower on the lowest setting it was 9F outside. This morning during a round trip to an appointment, the system provided no heat at all 11F outside. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if additional details or documentation are required.

ACCIDENT:Date: [XXX] Time: [XXX] Location: Balboa Park – San Diego – Morley Field Sports Center – Parking lot Parking lot - Google Maps Driver – Geico Insurance coverage || no passengers What: Nissan Leaf 2023 Model SV+ - 8410 miles -- Unintended Acceleration Incident Backing up to leave parking lot – with seat belt on – looked at rear view camera – clear. Backed up slowly – then intersected with the rear bumper of a Honda – slowly I braked – then went into Drive mode to get out of the intersection. Then I lost control of the car. Car went lurching forward fast – zoomed up over parking curb – 5 in – side-swiped the side of a tree with right front bumper – gashed with parts flying all over the grass. Crashing noises from jumping the curb and hitting the tree. I braked hard and got vehicle to stop = approx. 3 feet from another tree – which I would have hit straight on. No airbags were deployed. It all happened at high acceleration in an instant. After I recovered from the shock, I assessed the situation. The dashboard showed a malfunction – right front tire – no air pressure. Contacted my insurance company – GEICO – and opened a claim. GEICO arranged for my vehicle to be towed by ASAP Towing to my home. Took photos of the wreckage – collected all the pieces I could in a bucket – some were too large to fit into my car = air dam or some sort of under side cover – made of gray bendable plastic. Called ASAP - the towing company – asked about a flat bed as my front right tire was flat and the front bumper of the car had fallen off. My Leaf needs to be repaired. It needs to be reprogrammed by Nissan so that I feel safe driving it. Of note, I had to my Nissan dealer – Mossy Nissan Poway – for the recall R23A6 on Sept. 26, 2023. Did they address the recall issue? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The Electoral System gives a red warning on the Dashboard Stating, " NO POWER SERVICE EV SYSTEM." The EV goes completely dead even with a charged battery it takes several times trying to restart the car aprox 20minutes to more then a hour until finally the car turns over. I believe this is safety risk as it strands its occupants in sometime dangerous or unknown locations or even in the middle of nowhere. It has put me at risk by similar situations. There has been several owners of this vehicle complaining about the same thing so I know im not the only owner that is having this trouble. The vehicle is going to the dealership tomorrow maybe they have answers but for how new this car is a 2023 Nissan leaf S with under 9,000 miles on it, is unacceptable. When the red box comes up there is NO Prior Warnings that the car will restart or will completely die when driving.

My front collision system will sporadically start flashing when there is nothing in front of me. One time a dealer was able to read a code saying that it overheated, and told me that was a known issue with no solution. It was 100F, but I have had the same issue at 35F. The dealership and corporate cannot tell me how the safety system will respond with this error, either disabling my crash prevention system or possibly automatically breaking for no reason. I have taken it to the dealership 4 times. One refused to even try to read the code as it was happening. Another read the code but refused to record it. The other times they kept the car for a total of 8 days and didn’t even look at the component. It seems like they know that this safety issue exists and have no plans to address it. They also refuse to answer my question about liability if it causes my car to automatically break and cause an accident. This has happened at speeds between 0 and 75 mph

The front all-around parking view camera is now dark purple ( no other colors) and its lens is not aligned. I am taking it into Nissan for warranty repair on 8/27/2024. At least one other user online has a similar issue with their 2023 Leaf, mine is a 2024. Since this camera is used for parking situational awareness , you might consider it a safety issue. If it is systemic issue.

The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Leaf. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was swerving to the right and then accelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated as needed upon depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, the contact stated that after the driver pulled over to the side of the road and released the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that the driver immediately depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle stopped. The contact stated that upon releasing the brake pedal, the failure recurred, and the vehicle accelerated to 45 MPH unintendedly. Additionally, the steering was pulling to the right and to the left independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that upon depressing the "Cancel" button on the steering wheel to cancel the driver's assist features, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The driver was able to control the steering wheel by using physical strength. Additionally, the driver depressed the brake pedal and stopped the vehicle. The driver was able to drive to the residence nearby. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. When the Power switch is depressed the vehicle takes a certain amount of time before the READY to drive light is illuminated and the vehicle can be shifted into drive out reverse mode. However, if the gear shifter is moved into either drive or reverse prior to the light illuminating the vehicle will enter Neutral mode instead of remaining in Park. If the vehicle is stopped on any incline the vehicle may begin to roll in an unexpected direction once the brake is released believing the vehicle has shifted into the correct mode. If another vehicle, pedestrian, or object is near the vehicle it may be impacted before the driver has the time to depress the brake pedal. Further making this issue unsafe is that normally the gear selector has to be held in the neutral position for 2 seconds before the vehicle shifts into neutral. With this issue, the vehicle immediately goes into neutral when the shift selector is placed in drive or reverse. The issue was presented to a Nissan dealership for which they responded the vehicle is operating normally. Contacting Nissan consumer affairs also resulted in the statement that the vehicle is functioning normally. The issue with the "normal" operation being an unsafe operation was not of interest to either the dealership or consumer affair department, though the consumer affairs rep said they may look into it. For comparison, the same procedure was performed on a 2012 Toyota Prius in which it remains in Park, as would be the expected result if the vehicle was not ready to shift into gear.
