I was driving on the highway at 9:30 AM in about 65 degree whether in a 2022 Mercedes Benz CLA equipped with a panoramic sunroof. I got on the exit ramp which was directly under a highway bridge when suddenly I heard a single, loud bang. I look up and realized that my sunroof had completely shattered and I all could see was the bare sky above the windscreen. Luckily, there was no one in the passenger seat and no other drivers around me because I suddenly swerved due to the shocking nature of the incident. My vehicle is only 2.5 years old, and I bought it brand-new. In addition, I keep it maintained at a local Mercedes-Benz dealership. There was absolutely no indication that this was going to happen. The sunroof is not used often, and there were no signs of weakness or cracking.

Rear camera works, but the hatch will not close making it difficult to open and close the trunk. I have seen many vehicles in this Family Class with the rear camera in the same condition which leads me to believe that it's not a maintenance issue.

The contact owns a 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA250. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local dealer and the vehicle starting very rather slowly. The vehicle was diagnosed however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that the vehicle operated normally; however, the following day while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle started to lose automotive power. The contact pulled over to the side of the highway until the vehicle came to a complete stop. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was inspected by two independent mechanics however, the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.

I was driving down the highway without any vehicles in front of me at around 65mph when all of a sudden my panoramic roof exploded out of nowhere, it sounded like a gunshot going off inside the car and I nearly crashed my vehicle from the sudden explosion, I luckily had the glass shade cover up and glass did not fall in my face, I had my [XXX] daughter and [XXX] son in the backseat and they are now terrified to get back into any vehicle. This is extremely dangerous situation and will cause a serious accident in the future if not fixed. Nothing hit my roof and I wasn’t even using it at the time no one touched the thing, it just exploded out of nowhere. I am driving around 55K miles in this car, and my check engine light comes up. I head to a local place to get a code check. The guy looks it up and tells me this is pretty much with EVERY Mercedes CLA around that mile point.. So, I look up on reddit and other forums, and it's exactly what he said. Pretty much the PCV valve is faulty and costs around $1800-2500 to fix after 50-60K miles which causes emission problems and other safety concerns if not taken care of. It makes no sense how this is not a recall. Of what I read, Mercedes knows all about this and has done nothing, just leaving the drivers to take care of a problem that they did nothing to cause. I am not sure if this is for the NHTSA or what, but it is kind of unacceptable.

There was a recent extended warranty issued by Mercedes-Benz to repair certain vehicle models free of charge that have a check engine light code P052E. Unfortunately my vehicle (2015 CLA 250) was not included in that recall, but the CLA250 models have the same issue and run the same risk of safety being compromised. Now myself, and many others, have to pay a hefty out of pocket price for a malfunction that is strictly the fault of the manufacturer. Please look into this and strongly consider having Mercedes-Benz include the CLA 250 models in this warranty.

I purchased my vehicle early March from Carmax. They offer a 90 day guarantee on anything that will go wrong with the vehicle full coverage. My daughter was having my grandchild so what a great opportunity but to drive my new vehicle from Chicago to Florida to give it a good run when I arrived I was having problems with the Eco drive, which is the start stop enabler. The car would die out. Also, there were a few alarms as far as the temperature of the vehicle and the service mechanism being that I had left at the dealership at 9:30 PM at night and hit the road immediately I had to notice until the morning, but there was some cracking on the exterior of the driver side tire. Upon arriving to Florida. I brought the car directly to Mercedes at the Daytona auto Mall soon as I walked in they service representative stated we don’t deal with Carmax and I said well they said the car is covered under warranty to go ahead and bring it into you guys and they will take care of the bill. They made a big fuss about it saying that it needed to go to Carmax then Carmax needed to bring them the vehicle even though I had all of my stuff located in the vehicle for traveling then they proceeded to tell me that they would not give me a loaner car during the time of my service. The Carmax representative that I spoke with in service his name was Al when I had addressed all of my concerns he had mentioned due to the tire issue. They would be replacing all four tires and that they would address the issues with the Start stop control the computer reacting and then disappearing, and also a safety recall that I had noticed about the airbags because the passenger side airbag kept displaying a blinking needless to say, after being totally inconvenienced, they have my vehicle for over a week. The second I went to pick up the car. I had to pick it up in the afternoon due to having to work in the evening they had it ready in the express. .I PURCHASED BRAND NEW VEHICLE FROM CARMAX OF OAKLAWN , WHO IMPORTED THE VEHICLE FROM NAPERVILLE IL IT CAME WITH 90 DAY GAURANTEE OR MONEY BACK.I THEN DROVE TO FLORIDA 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE OF WHICH MY BOYFRIEND [XXX] AT THE TIME CAN ATTEST THE VEHICLE DROVE AMAZING.UPON MY ARRIVAL I WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE ECO DRIVE AND THE COMPUTER CODED AND DISAPPEARED 3 TIMES. I CONTACTED CARMAX 800 NUMBER THEY ADVISED ME TO BRING IT TO THE DAYTONA BEACH AUTOMALL CARMAX WHO THEN REF ME TO THE DAYTONA AUTOMALL MERCEDES BENZ DEALER TO BE SERVICED. MERCEDES SERV REP "SAID WE DONT DEAL WITH CARMAX" AND SENT ME BACK TO CARMAX AFTER MY SERV REP INSTRUCTED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE THERE. SO THEN I WENT TO CARMAX WHO THEN DELIVERED THE VEHICLE TO MERCEDES BENZ OF DAYTONA. I WAS GIVEN A LOANER VEHICLE OF WHICH MY PERSONAL ITEMS DISAPEARED FROM "CONVIENTLY LEGAL DOCUMENTS AND FILES" THEY REPLACED BOTH BATTERIES IN THE VEHICLE AND (4)TIRES CLAIMING IT WOULD FIX THE PROB . SOON AS I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I INFORMED THEM THAT IT WAS NOT RIGHT AND NEEDED THE ADVISOR TO CONTACT ME ASAP. I CONTINUED TO HAVE MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL, FUEL AND COMPUTER INDICATIONS. THE VEHICLE IS NOT THE SAME CAR. I ALSO COMPARED MY VIN NUMBER THROUGH MERCEDES AND EXPRESSED A DIFFERENT MODEL OF VEHICLE. THEY CLAIMED THAT IT WAS DO TO SYSTEM BEING OUTDATED AND THAT THERE IS NO UPDATE FOR IT. SO WHY DO MY EMERGENCY SAFETY ITEMS SHOW AN ELECTRIC CAR ? DIFFERENT MODEL THE CAR STATES ITS A CLA 45 AMG. FUEL BURNS VERY QUICKLY ENGINE IS LOUDER AND I AM NOTICING A GRAYING IN MY HANDS AFTER EXCESS DRIVING ALMOST LIKE BLISTERING , THE ENGINE SOUND IS NOT CORRECT AND THE COMPUTER KEEPS JUMPING HUNDREDS OF MILES SAYING ITS OVER THE PACKAGE IN AN EXCESS OF 200 MILES PER DAY AT TIMES . On Friday, September 27, around 12 pm, while driving on i880S near Union City, California, something horrific happened. The sunroof of my 2021 Mercedes CLA 250, with just 49,000 miles, suddenly exploded without any warning. The sound was so loud and violent, it felt like a gunshot. I was immediately overwhelmed with fear and panic as I struggled to process what was happening. In my rearview mirror, I could see shards of glass scattering across the road behind me. When I looked up, I was horrified to see that the remaining glass was hanging in dangerous shards just above my head, barely held in place by the sunroof cover. I shudder to think what might have happened if that cover hadn’t been there—if it had fallen, I would have been covered in glass. And if there had been passengers or children in the car, the consequences could have been unimaginable. This experience left me deeply shaken and traumatized. I now have a lingering fear of sunroofs, and I no longer feel safe in my own vehicle. It’s not just the incident itself, but also the aftermath. When I brought the car to the dealer, despite still being under warranty, I was told this issue wouldn’t be covered. I was referred to MBUSA customer support, but after researching, I’ve seen numerous forums where others with Mercedes CLA and GLA models experienced the same problem and were similarly denied coverage. This is more than a manufacturing defect – it’s a significant safety hazard. This incident could have led to severe injuries, or worse. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. This isn’t just about my car – it’s about ensuring the safety of all drivers and passengers in vehicles with sunroofs like mine.

Engine was failed prior to purchase, it is available for inspection. Engine jerks while driving. Dealer changed engine and problem got worse. Vehicle was inspected at Mercedes Benz Manhattan. Engine light keeps coming on and engine oil raises above normal level and warning light comes on and dealer says its normal.
