We were sitting in the a parking lot (not driving), and heard a loud pop. The windshield had spontaneously cracked. There were no chips prior. The entire windshield had to be replaced. I had to pay $563 (insurance deductible) to have it replaced.

ENGINE
When starting in the cold (approx 30 degrees F or less), the Kia has a very high pitch squeal. The sound appears to be coming from inside the engine and is NOT a pulley or slipping belt. There is a lot of discussion about this issue on the web, and Kia has not issued any resolution to any of the customers who have complained and taken to dealers. I’ve owned over 10 vehicles and had glass chipped from rocks or hail and understand that happens. My Kia Telluride simply with no vehicles around on a paved road driving 55 miles an hour just cracked like it had been hit by a bullet and then proceeded to spread over 6” from the time the crack happen until I got it into my garage 5 miles down the road. The weather outside was 56 degrees according to vehicle and no rain or abnormal driving conditions. I have seen in numerous forums this is a common problem with the 2020 Kia Telluride. This should be a recall issue.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT
The contact owns a 2022 Kia Telluride. The contact stated that the rear backup camera would intermittently remain in operation while in the drive which caused a distraction to her while driving at various speeds. The contact also mentioned that other electrical delays would occur with the infotainment screen. The contact stated that her vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V577000 (Electrical System) and that upon arrival to the dealer; she mentioned the failure to the dealer. The dealer informed her that the recall would repair the failure; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 0.

Sustained small rock chip in lower left of windshield. After a few miles formed a crack that extended half way across windshield. Research shows that Kia claimed 2020 vehicle issues and would replace windshields for no charge. They will not for 2021 Kia Telluride. I feel they have a quality issue in the windshield of the model I own, yet they refuse to take ownership if the issue. I see forums with owners having the exact same issue. I have owned vehicles for over 50 years and have never seen a windshield crack as easily as these.

ENGINE
On cold mornings when the temperature falls below thirty degrees, the car emits a loud screeching noise from the area of the throttle body. I had the belts and pulleys checked at my last oil change (two weeks ago) and they were fine. It it’s distinctly coming from the area of the air intake and throttle body. The high pitched squeal will last for about 10 seconds and stop. By the time the vehicle gets to the dealer, it has warmed up or the temperature has gone above 30.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The low beams to high beam headlight stared working intermittently in Aug 2021. Maybe one side worked or the other or neither. I took it to KIA and they said a bulb was about burned out. Replaced both bulbs but was still having the same issue. Took it back in Sept 2021, they said they did a diagnostic test and everything showed it was ok. Left, same problem. Called again had appointment in October 2021, finally said there was a problem with the "curtain" or cover that moved to change the lights from High to Low beam. They ordered only the left side. Replaced that in December 2021. Left dealership and the left one works great, the right one only intermittently. Called again and asked that they replace the right one, tech had to ask someone if they were ok to do that. Got that approved and the part just came in. Setting up appointment soon. This has taken 4-5 months to get resolved, and I'm still not done. Too long if you ask me.

Optional LED headlight buckets fog up and will not dry out. Kia has a service bulletin out regarding this issue, it was performed and the situation has not improved. Recently, in minus 20-30 degree F weather, the condensation inside the housing frosted up the entire inside of the housing. The LED headlights do not generate enough heat to adequately melt the frost creating decreased headlight performance. The vehicle has been into the dealer multiple times and the service bulletin was performed once and the desiccant packs were replaced the second time. The frost issue occurred after both had been done. Kia states that this is normal operation for their LED headlight bucket and the dealership, claiming to be under orders from Kia will not dedicate any more time to the investigation of my issue.

SUSPENSION
Rear Struts/Shocks have been replaced twice due to failure and they have failed again. The first time was due to horrible noises coming from rear of vehicle going up inclines. The second time they were replaced noises came from the rear going over any slight bump or rough terrain.

Windshield cracked and quickly spread with no sound or impact. Inspection at dealership reveals a tiny chip along the crack that the dealership says indicates and impact. Windshield seems very fragile as I have had other cars that have suffered more serious impact and not had major cracking issues. Also windshield replacement cost is very high as the dealership claims they need to recalibrate the camera that is use for lane keep assist. The previous years also had windshield issues that were covered by warranty.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
The high beam headlights fail to activate, yet the blue dash indicator shows lights are on high beam. Furthermore, when on low beam the headlights do not broadcast a sufficient distance ahead or to the side to enable driver to see the road sufficiently for safe driving. This issue has been reported by almost 100 other drivers, many of whom have North Carolina addresses, but the reports also list other states such as Nevada. This is a major safety issue that is evolving currently and hopefully, you will make it a priority to contact the manufacturer for a recall. This was first noticed on 12/23/2021, but became prominent when spouse driving me home from hospital ER for unrelated injury on 12/28/2021.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Dash gage cluster (tach, speedometer, fuel, and engine temp) all go to zero while driving. The digital speedometer readout is also zero. Basically the entire dash is dead minus the entertainment system which functions perfectly.This also shuts down all adaptive cruise and collision avoidance systems. Restarting the vehical will not bring dash instruments back. Ocassionally cycling to door locks and or disconnecting negative battery lead will bring dash instruments or they will begin randomly begin functioning again on their own. They always malfunction and come back as an entire cluster. I also have video of the vehical in motion with the instruments dead.

POWER TRAIN
My new AWD 2022 Kia Telluride vibration/ humming at 65 mph and above from day 1. It’s been in service 5 times and they are not able to fix the problem. The dealership we bought it from didn’t even admit there is a problem so we had to take it to another dealership which actually admitted there is a problem. They just changed the drive shaft and rear differential and the problem is still there . It’s been in service longer than it’s been with me. Very frustrating.
