Car stalled in the middle of the road while driving. Took it in to dealer ship for a recall to get this repaired or flashed. Engine burning excessive oil. Car has always been kept up with maintenance. While operating the vehicle the car stalled due to low oil compression. Vehicle has aprox 155k miles. Check engine light has came on. Due to the issue that car engine is burning oil there is a new permanent code p0420 which is a bad catalyc converter since the cars emission system is failing. Car has been sitting at home for about 1 month or longer as we don’t drive it and are still financing the vehicle

My vehicle is almost un-drivable at night due to a terrible headlight bean pattern. See attached image. I have taken to two different Kia Dealerships with no results and reached out to Kia. Got their recall letter, parked the car. It came up for inspection last December 2023. No inspection station would inspect it due to the fire hazard. It has sat since, not on the road. It runs and drives fine in my driveway. Now I've had no vehicle since December. I'd like it fixed. Or have them just buy it back off me.

The propulsion battery has so much degradation that when I drive on the freeway the "turtle" mode activated not allowing me to do freeway speeds with cars around me. It forced me to slow unsafely while cars were behind me, I had to react quickly to turn on my hazards and try to get the vehicle to speed up. If I was too slow or another driver was inattentive we would have been hit from behind by a vehicle going much faster.

The contact discovered how to disconnect the ABS module and disconnected it. The contact was concerned that the ABS module would cause a fire. The contact was notified of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact owns a 2013 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle began to shake with an abnormal whining sound coming from the vehicle. The ABS and check engine warning lights were illuminated. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the Hydraulic Electrical Control Unit (HECU) had caused the failure and the sound continued after the vehicle was turned off. The contact disconnected and reconnected the battery to drive the vehicle home. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer where the failure was confirmed and it was confirmed that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the recall did not cover the replacement of HECU, just the HECU fuse. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,300.

My catalytic converter failed just under 4 years after getting the SC176 recall done in July 2020. I believe it's possible there was a step missed in the replacement of my catalytic converter related to the recall, specifically the Catalytic Overheating Protection Engine Control Unit logic that may have caused the converter to fail. I do not detect that on the attached receipt from the repair that was done for the recall. Although there were no safety issues that happened, after reading the recall and what can happen as a result of the catalytic converter failing, I am concerned for my safety if I drive it any longer in that condition. The problem has been diagnosed by my local Kia dealership on Friday 4/19/24 and that is where the car is presently. I have attached the inspection report and the cost to fix it. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other the Kia dealership. There was a ticking sound when I accelerated that wasn't there before on 4/3. The service engine light came on Thursday 4/4 when I was getting my routine oil changed. I changed the PCV valve and the light went off until approximately 4/17 and then I called the dealership to schedule bringing it in for the diagnosis which was 4/19. This is the only information I have at this time. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and slowing for a traffic signal, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle made an abnormal clunking noise and failed to slow as needed.
