I’ve had this repaired by Kia and immediately failed again, but a component to the alternator and ac unit is attached to the drive train and will cause an alarm that hybrid battery failure and sudden power loss(they told me this with the first “fix” but failed within an hour of leaving Kia. It’s happened again tonight and nearly caused a crash on the freeway and I’ve seen many others with this issue and I want to drive my kid home safely so any help would be wonderful with this issue. Thank you!!

Got the recall letter but kia dealer and customer service have no info about when the remedy will be available. This is a major issue as I need to sell the car now to use the cash for other urgent matters. Dont even think the dealer will give a decent wholesale amount or take them on a trade. It is lowering the value and decreasing the demand as its a safety hazard for the vehicle which isnt fair . How long are they legally allowed to drag this out with no compensation to all those waiting ? Is there a class action suit ? Thank you for your help ! [XXX] [XXX] or cell [XXX] . - #11550994October 20, 2023POWER TRAIN, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Hybrid System Failure due to overheating Overheating due to coolant leak into resorvoir My car started having white smoke come from exhaust during driving Took to the repair shop, repaired the coolant reservoir next day, same issue took back to the service tech stated they couldn't find the leak, but the reservoir was empty. Took the car for a second opinion, the service people had my car all day, after picking up, was told by the repairman that it was the engine and KIA is aware of it. Stated he is unable to help and I should take the car to a KIA dealer For weeks the car was still blowing smoke Took the car to KIA of Stamford Had the car for a few hours, tech said coolant leak and I will need to replace the part which is 3000, advised there is a bypass method on the internet for NIRO owners with the same issue online, and I was told they will not do the bypass due to emission laws. Advised my car should be covered under Emissions warranty, and was told it does not cover the part. Advised the service man this should be covered under my 100,000 warranty with KIA, which is what I was sold, and was told this is not the case, and I wasn't covered. Advised KIA I have an extended warranty with WIZ autos where i purchased the car. Spoke to the warranty department and was told it wasn't covered under their warranty either. May 2023 While driving I saw white smoke, my car began to overheat and I tried to pull over, when I pulled over the car would not drive. HYBRID System Malfunction The car has been with Wiz autos and they are now telling me the repairs will cost $5,800 There are many people online suffering because of this defect. There are reports online that once fixed, the issue returns months later. Wiz autos is asking me to pay 6000 for a repair and 3 month warranty on the part. Issue: Coolant leak is causing issues that affect the safety of drivers, as well as destroys their vehicles and KIA Motors has been the worst to work with.

Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. HEV light lit up on dashboard and a warning message was displayed alerting me to immediately pull over and turn off the vehicle. At the same time the vehicle was not responding and acceleration became troubling and with marked hesitation. After waiting several minutes I attemped to turn the vehicle on again but the warning light and alarm went off. Vehicle is currently at the dealership but they have not offer a solution or even a temporary remedy.

I was 3 1/2 weeks into a four year lease driving this brand new car and it stopped completely in the middle of the road flashing a HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE warning. I nearly died. It would not move nor turn off. Had to be in the shop for 2 weeks. I don’t feel safe in this car and I want out of this lease asap. Kia is not willing to work with me on this

On March 28, 2023 the vehicle HEV warning light came on. I called the dealership where I was informed they did not have any mechanics available to look at it until August. No one to work on Hybrid. I then took it to a mechanic shop, And I was informed to take it to the dealer. I could not drive the vehicle. I called KIA, Temple Hills back, I was told if you tow the vehicle here it will just sit. April 8, 2023 had it towed to another shop, the mechanic stated he thought it was the battery, which I was informed hybrid has 3 batteries, to check with the dealer to see if they had them, or could order one. Called the dealership Temple Hills, stathat they had never heard of a battery for that car. I was told to call back next week, after he spoke with the parts dept. manager. I called back a week later, and was told they knew nothing about a Kia Niro, could not help. The mechanic looked for a battery at other shops, ebay. The one I Paid 600.00dollars for did not work. After being there for 1 month. I called Kia dealership Bowie Md. On June 6, 2023 spoke with Jacob, the advisor. The vehicle was towed there, Jacob refused to give me any updates on the vehicle after 1 month being there, just sitting. I would call him trying to get updates, he informed me that they only had one mechanic, just a whole lot of nothing, the vehicle could catch on fire. Another month passed and I went to the dealership, along with my brother. Jacob was not answering my calls/returning them. Vehicle just sitting there. Jacob, then said the mechanic that worked on the hybrid was out for surgery, he would be in touch. I asked for the Kia Corporate number, which I received. I contacted Kia, corporate on July 13, 2023, spoke with them several times, informing them that the vehicle was not operable, and I was still making car notes/ paying insurance on a vehicle that I was not driving. At the dealership now for 3 months. Jacob, not communicating I can email you documents/fax, all paperwork.

- #11549802October 13, 2023UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
I backed out of my drive and began to go forward. Five times in my 2023 Kia Niro HEV within one block the dashboard began to flash red, beeping sounds were emitted, and then the brakes slammed rapidly bringing the car to a stop. My attempts to accelerate were futile until the car let me accelerate about 5 -10 seconds later.. There was absolutely nothing in front of me or to the sides of me or anything coming towards me. This was entirely phantom braking. In four of these phantom forward collision avoidance ( FCA) instances there was nothing in back of me. However, the fifth episode involved a car that was in back of me and nearly rear ended me with the sudden illogical stop caused by the phantom braking. I had the car towed to the dealership. The car dealer did not find any log of this happening and could not make it happen on demand. After three weeks of looking at it, they finally called their national tech line and decided a sensor need to be realigned. They took the fender off the car, did the realignment and declared the vehicle repaired.

Car gives digital signal of overheating, white smoke pours out of exhaust but there is no code that allows dealership to diagnose and remedy. This has occurred twice in the last 6 weeks and the car has sat at the dealership for weeks. This problem and inability to repair without a $1,200 exhaust system replacement is well documented on-line [XXX] ] and the dealership is unhelpful. It appears there's a design flaw that allows this to occur and should be remediated by the manufacturer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Hi, We made an appointment for lube oil and filter change for Oct. 12 in Redding. We made the call because the dock to recharge the phone was getting very hot and the phone shut down and said it needed to cool down. Two different phones and several times. We do not use it. During the call to two different dealers. Harper Motors and Redding Kia the said there was another issues with no remedy but we should receive a recall by mail. This leading to yesterday morning. Sept. 30, 2023 at 08:30. I put my foot on the brake and pushed the start button. Nothing happened except the dash read Check regenerative braking system and some other things then everything shut down and screen went black. The dash made a winding down sound. Everything shut down and locked. No response with the FOB. Hatch will not open. No lights anywhere. I can not move the gear shift to move the gear shift. It recommends moving the car away from structures and other cars. Because of fire danger. 2022 Kia Niro PHEV. As noted before we made contact with the dealers, They said to have it towed to them. It is a fire safety issue. How do I get it out of my garage with it locked down like this.

Driving to work and all of a sudden my front right side tilts down and scares me to death. This starts to effect my steering. This also happened to the side only 1 time. I believe this maybe a front lower control arm issue.

I have now had 8 instances of the Low Power warning coming on while driving, which reduces available power, and when coming to a stop, car cannot go forward. This has happened at highway speeds as well as city street speeds. This happened 4 times on a 50 mile drive today, creating a very dangerous road situation. I now feel the car is unsafe to drive, as an accident is waiting to happen. I have contacted the dealership where car was purchased and am waiting to hear back from them.
