SummarySome vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines may exhibit higher-than-expected engine oil consumption. This bulletin outlines the combustion chamber cleaning procedure for vehicles diagnosed with this condition. All internal combustion engines consume some engine oil during normal operation, depending on driving conditions and mileage, and this procedure should only be performed when deemed necessary based on inspection and diagnosis of the vehicle as outlined in TSB 26-EM-015H, Engine Oil Consumption – Inspection & Repair Guidelines, or the latest revision.

SummaryCertain vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines may exhibit higher-than-expected engine oil consumption. This bulletin provides the inspection and repair procedures for vehicles exhibiting this condition. All internal combustion engines consume engine oil as part of normal engine operation. Oil consumption rates may vary based on mileage, operating conditions, driving habits, and maintenance history. Hyundai recommends following the prescribed maintenance schedule and periodically checking the engine oil level using the dipstick to maintain proper engine oil level.

SummaryThe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified the presence of substandard and dangerous driver’s-side airbag inflators manufactured by Jilin Province Detiannuo Automobile Safety System Co., Ltd. (DTN). These inflators were not supplied, approved, or authorized by the vehicle manufacturers and have primarily been found in vehicles that previously experienced a crash and underwent airbag replacement using non-genuine parts. These dangerous inflators have ruptured during deployment, posing a serious risk of injury or death due to metal fragments entering the vehicle cabin. To date, Hyundai is aware of three people who have died while driving a Hyundai vehicle with one of these substandard replacement airbag inflators that deployed in what likely would have been a survivable crash. NHTSA has issued a public advisory urging vehicle owners and service professionals to have vehicles inspected if there is reason to believe that a non-genuine replacement airbag may have been installed. Vehicles with salvage or rebuilt titles, prior airbag deployments, or unknown repair histories may present a higher risk. NHTSA strongly cautions against self-inspection by vehicle owners and recommends inspection by trained technicians.

SummaryCertain 2019 - 2022 model year Veloster N, 2022 - 2023 model year Elantra N, and 2022 - 2023 model year Kona N vehicles may have a Fuel Control Valve (FCV) in the High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) assemblies that could allow excess fuel to enter the fuel pump. This condition may result in a reduction or loss of motive power at low speeds. The vehicle will also have Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0088. The warranty coverage for the High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) has been extended to 15 years or 150,000 miles from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use and is valid for original and subsequent owners.

SummaryCertain 2019-2022MY Veloster N (JSN), 2022-2023MY Elantra N (CN7N), and 2022-2023MY Kona N (OSN) vehicles are equipped with high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) assemblies that have fuel control valves (FCV) that could allow excess fuel to enter the fuel pump due to gradual wear of the FCV plunger. An air/fuel mixture that runs too “rich” may result in a reduction or loss of motive power at low speeds. The vehicle will also have Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0088. Hyundai is extending warranty coverage for the HPFP under this condition to 15 years or 150,000 miles from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use (whichever occurs first) and is valid for original and subsequent owners.

SummaryN Vehicles are designed to maximize dynamic steering performance. In normal Ackerman steering geometry, the inner front tire turns more than the outer tire to help cornering in low-speed situations, i.e., parking lot maneuvering or sharp U-turns. N vehicles have a steering geometry optimized for performance driving. The N vehicle’s steering angle difference between the front wheels is reduced to enhance cornering performance. While this helps in high performance driving conditions, it can cause a higher level of tire side scrub that may create a slow shudder or vibration while turning at full steering lock. The feel is similar to turning a 4WD vehicle on dry asphalt when locked in 4WD. This shudder or vibration at parking lot speeds is normal, and no repairs should be performed. Additionally, the summer tires on the N vehicles can make the shudder or vibration more pronounced in cold ambient conditions.
