The car has been recalled because incidents worldwide of the high voltage battery catching fire and/or exploding. Supposedly Hyundai is going to replace the batteries in affected cars, but to date has NOT done so.

The March 1, 2021 recall has not been resolved. The vehicle was purchased for its mile capacity however, due to this recall, I'm unable to use the vehicle for my travel/work as intended when I purchased the vehicle. As a result of the reduced miles, I must charge my vehicle between trips to ensure I have sufficient miles to make it home. This takes time out of my schedule and I must pay for the charging (I charge my car at my residence and have solar panels - thus no charging expense). This does Not take into consideration that at times, I cannot use my air conditioning or heating in my car to ensure I have sufficient miles to make it home or to the next charging station. I paid a lot of money for a fully functional car, for which I am NOT receiving. If I have reached the incorrect department, please forward this complaint to the appropriate department.

Dears, I have been contacting both the dealership and the manufacturer to assist with the recall, no help whatsoever. I had this issue before the recall and the car still has a similar issue, I cannot drive it and in the same time I don't have another car. and I cannot risk my life or my daughter's being in the car. both parties have been the worst to handle this issue as I was informed the remedy will not be out until end of June. this is a cost damage on me. please advise as I would really appreciate your help. Best, Haya

HYUNDAI HAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO BATTERY SAFETY ISSUES. THEY HAVE REDUCED MY BATTERY STORAGE TO 80% CAPACITY AND THIS LIMITS MY ABILITY TO TRAVEL UNLESS I STOP FOR EXTENDED PERIODS TO RECHARGE MY BATTERY. THE ONLY COMPENSATION THEY HAVE PROVIDED WAS A $200 VISA CARD, WHICH IS INCREDIBLY INADEQUATE, FOR THE TIME AND MONEY THIS IS COSTING ME. I'VE BEEN WITHOUT FULL BATTERY CAPACITY FOR OVER A MONTH NOW.

IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A RAPPING NOISE, FROM THE TIME I START IT AND DRIVE TILL ITS PARKED AND SHUT OFF. THE RAPPING IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY AND IS NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER YET. I BOUGHT THE KONA IN AUGUST OF 2020 AND IT HAS LESS THAN 3800 MILES ON IT. I AM DRIVING TO CHARLOTTESVILLE VIRGINIA WITH THREE FAMILY MEMBERS SO I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE ASAP.

- #11415035May 3, 2021SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
MY VEHICLE UNNECESSARILY ACTIVATED AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LOCKING THE WHEELS AND CAUSING THE TRUCK BEHIND ME TO SWERVE ONTO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID CRASHING INTO MY VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH THIS CAR. I WAS DRIVING IN THE SLOW LANE OF A LIMITED ACCESS FREEWAY. THE LANE WAS CONGESTED AND I ESTIMATE THE SPEED AT ABOUT 40 MPH. THE CARS AHEAD SLOWED AND BEGAN TO STOP. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND MOVED TO THE BRAKE. AT THIS TIME I WAS THREE OR FOUR CAR LENGTHS BEHIND THE CAR AHEAD, AND COULD HAVE STOPPED EASILY WITH FIRM BUT NORMAL BRAKING. AS SOON AS MY FOOT TOUCHED THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY VEHICLE LOCKED ITS BRAKES AND SCREECHED TO AN ABRUPT STOP. OBJECTS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT WERE THROWN TO THE FLOOR. A TRUCK BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT OF MY VEHICLE TO AVOID CRASHING INTO IT. THE DRIVER FOLLOWED ME HONKING FOR HALF A MILE UNTIL MY EXIT. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE, IN FEBRUARY 2020. FOLLOWING THAT INCIDENT, I TOOK THE CAR TO HYUNDAI DEALER SERVICE, WHO ADVISED THAT "THE CAR IS OPERATING CORRECTLY." SEE ATTACHED SERVICE REPORT. NOTE THAT NO VEHICLES CHANGED LANES IN FRONT OF MINE DURING EITHER INCIDENT, BUT NOTWITHSTANDING, THE DEALER SERVICE SUGGESTED THAT AS A CAUSE.

HEADLIGHTS ARE DEFECTIVE! THEY GET FULL ON CONDENSATION OBSTRUCTING THE LIGHTS AND ROAD AHEAD. THEY GO OFF AN ON WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING. HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SEND A BULLETIN TO ALL THEIR DEALERS NOT TO REPLACE THEM. THIS IS COMPROMISING OUR VIEW AT NIGHT SINCE THE LIGHTS GO OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. WE ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT! BOUGHT THE CAR IN AUGUST 2020. IN FEBRUARY 2021 THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL FREQUENTLY AND IT WAS RUNNING VERY LOUD. I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS ALMOST NO OIL IN THE CAR WITH LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON IT. BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DETERMINED THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR (BUT STILL PAYING FOR IT MONTHLY) SINCE MID-FEBRUARY. IT IS NOW LATE APRIL.

I WAS ENTERING MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND SLOWED DOWN AS WE NEARED OUR HOUSE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES SO THAT I CAN OPEN MY GARAGE DOOR, AS I RELEASED THE BRAKES, THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING BY ITSELF REALLY FAST AND I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR FROM SPEEDING UP ON ITS OWN.
