- #11585079April 24, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Collision Mitigation Braking System malfunctioned on 4/23/24 causing automatic abrupt braking when driving over metal hole cover in road. The braking was so intense the car behind our family nearly collided with our car. In the moment this happened the car was not in driver’s control as a result of malfunction. Contacted local Honda dealer by phone who was familiar with the issue and advised there is no doubt the cause is the CMBS and there is no diagnostics or resolution for the problem.

On January 10, 2024, took the car in to Coral Springs Auto Mall, Coral Springs, Florida, for oil change. When driving home noticed the wheel was sticking. Drove the car till January 17th, gave it a week, and it got worse. Took it back to the shop, at which time they said the battery needed replacement but that the steering wheel needed a bracket, which had to be ordered. The said they would let us know when part would be in, maybe in a week. A week later we called and was told part could take as long as 6 months to a year. We requested a loaner but they had none available until January 31st. Have been driving that loaner till today as the called today to say part was in. Today is April 24th, so we have been with the loaner for 84 days, almost three months. The car was a Honda CRV Hybrid. The loaner is a Honda Pilot and not Hybrid. The cost of gas over that period of time was ridiculously higher because it was not a Hybrid. It was too large, but it was the only loaner they had so I was forced to drive it and pay the cost. Also, am paying $458.88 per month to finance my Hybrid CRV, when I can’t even drive the car I’m paying for. Believe I should receive some kind of compensation regarding the months I paid for my car and did not have it, as well as compensation for the difference in the cost of the gas.

- #11584910April 24, 2024STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
When driving at 70-75 mph with adaptive cruise set, the steering wheel feels like it locks and won’t turn But when you add force, it breaks loose. This is not lane keeping assist, it is something different. It is getting worse but the Honda Dealership says they can’t replicate it. It appears to be getting worse over time and I’m afraid it could cause an accident by completely locking up the steering wheel.

My 2002 Honda CRV's ENTIRE Passenger Side Airbag Assembly was REPLACED on 11-20-2019, per Honda. This was done as (per Honda) the Inflator bolt was broken and the applicable part to remedy the recall would not be available for approximately 3 months. An open recall (NHTSA Recall # 19V-501) from 06-27-2019 still is showing on my vehicle - If the ENTIRE Passenger Side Airbag Assembly was replaced on 11-20-2019, there should be no open NHTSA recall on my vehicle issued prior to 11-20-2019.

My Body Control Module failed and has been confirmed by the dealer. They are replacing it this morning. It’s been failing for close to a year I didn’t realize. It would set off the tire pressure monitor, caused the battery to die and turn on the brights. 3 days ago the alarm kept going off and turning the dashboard on. When I drove it to the dealer, multiple electronic systems were not working correctly. For a - barely- 3 year old car this isn’t a component that should be going bad!

- #11584482April 22, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Driving on the highway at 65-70 MPH from Buffalo on [XXX] - so there was heavy traffic. Engine started to run rough, then the warning system showed almost all of the errors on the dash, including TPM, collision avoidance, lane alert, etc. Then the car could only go about 25 MPH, so had to pull off to the side (luckily) and turned off car to restart since that has worked before. This time it did not work, so had to drive about 1 mile to next exit on the side of the road and call for a tow from Erie to Pittsburgh. This has happened before when trying to accelerate from an ramp to the highway. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11584610April 22, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Traveling about 30mph on a street, the car activated the automatic breaking for no apparent reason. The screen flashed the orange “BREAK” sign at the same time that the car slammed the brakes on (with no prior warning). There were no cars in front, next to, or around me to the sides. There were no people or animals around and the weather was fully clear. The car behind me honked loudly at the sudden breaking of my vehicle. Everything in my car flew forwards (bags falling off the seat into the foot bed). It was very dangerous and I was lucky to avoid being hit from behind. I believe I injured my back and neck from the short stop as well. And my car just went through a full inspection at Firestone two days ago and everything checked out fine. The breaks activated for absolutely no apparent reason.

Easiest way to explain it is the steering wheel gets stuck while driving. This is result in a car accident that seriously hurts others or myself because my steering wheel locked up or got stuck. This issue started back in September 2023 after I had my car serviced and there was a recall on the system that need some update. My husband drove the car and immediately noticed what I had been feeling and I took my car in 1-18-2024 due to this recurrent issue. Dealership confirmed that my suv will need the steering wheel rack replaced was told the car shouldn’t be driven due to safety reasons caused by this faulty part. Dealer confirmed on 1-18-2024 that the part needs to be replaced however the part is on back order and no date for arrive has been set. My car has been sitting in my garage for 3 months now due to this safety issue which in fact there should be a recall linked to my vin #.

Sticky steering since 2k miles on vehicle. Sticky steering when at 35-55mph during gradual turns, especially to the left. Recently at 16k miles, the steering was stuck in a position to the left and then "clicked" back into use causing an overcompensation of the wheel for a moment. I feel it is unsafe to drive. Dealership (twice) cannot "recreate the issue" and will not fix even though it is the same issue in the Honda special bulletin 23-037 affecting the Civic.

- #11584420April 22, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SERVICE BRAKES
The contact owns a 2024 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving uphill at 10 MPH, the "Brake Issue, contact dealer" "Brakes Needs Servicing," warning message illuminated. The vehicle independently accelerated and crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy. The contact injured their head on the steering wheel. The contact also received bruises to their neck and knees that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was able to be driven the short distance home. The contact then stated that they later had the vehicle towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery had failed, however, they did not provide a diagnosis for the brake failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,024.

Sticky steering. When trying to make minor steering adjustments steering wheel will not move so you need to apply more force until you break the steering free but you have applied so much force you then over correct. Does not happen all the time.

At about 5,000 miles the steering started to become sticky at higher speeds. When driving straight it jerks slightly throughout the drive. Honda dealer has informed us we need a replacement part. 53620-3d4-a25. I believe this is a replacement steering rack. We took in to the dealer in October and as of April part is still back ordered with no estimated timeframe for delivery likely due to demand as a result of too many other customers with same issue. I believe this should be a recall to encourage Honda to address in a more timely manner.
